And then I had two kids, and I thought – I’m not feeling completely fulfilled, am I?” Usha Vance said. “So I really wanted a third child.” Usha has a sister, Shreya. After the birth of their third child, the family felt complete but they did not close out the option of having another child. “We have a daughter, who is amazing, and it was great. Panaji: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) on Monday issued notices to the Chief Executive Engineer of the Drinking Water Department, Assistant Engineer of the Water Resources Department and builder Prabhu Realtors, Dabolim, over a complaint by residents of Prabhu’s Violetta Complex about contamination of drinking water.The commission has asked both the authorities and the builder to file their replies by April 10 and remain present in person or through their representative for the hearing on the same day.Residents of Prabhu Violetta Residential Complex, Dabolim have filed a complaint with the Goa Human Rights Commission seeking immediate intervention into the issue of contamination of drinking water supply affecting around 200 residents including newborn children, pregnant women and elderly people in the complex.He said they suffered from chronic diarrhoea, several cases were medically diagnosed and confirmed to be typhoid.He said the builder is currently supplying water only for a few hours during the day and is denying supply at night, which is a serious lack of service and a direct denial of the basic human rights of the residents.Residents are seeking instructions from the authorities to immediately disinfect, repair, retest and restart the sewage treatment plant and water supply system so that it conforms to all statutory and technical standards before any further use.They are also demanding periodic and independent water quality testing of the water supply at the complex, the results of which be made public and shared with residents.They are also demanding the formation of an inquiry commission headed by a retired judge to probe the role and responsibility of the builder/promoter, Goa State Pollution Control Board, Water Resources Department, PHED, local panchayat and other agencies.

मुख्यमंत्री श्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने कहा कि चैती मेले से अब तक प्राप्त लगभग 13 करोड़ रूपये की धनराशि से चैती मेला परिसर का विकास एवं सौन्दर्यीकरण किया जायेगा। उन्होंने मेला परिसर के विकास के लिए मास्टर प्लान तैयार करने का निर्देश जिलाधिकारी को दिया.
मां बाल सुंदरी देवी उज्जयिनी शक्तिपीठ में आयोजित भजन संध्या में बतौर मुख्य अतिथि शामिल होने पहुंचे मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने कहा कि यह मेला सिर्फ एक आयोजन नहीं बल्कि हमारी लोक आस्था, सांस्कृतिक विरासत और गौरवशाली परंपराओं का जीवंत उत्सव है. उन्होंने कहा कि यह मेला भव्य रूप लेता जा रहा है. इस आयोजन से क्षेत्र में व्यापार, पर्यटन बढ़ेगा और अनेक संभावनाएं पैदा होंगी। स्थानीय विकास भी तेज गति से आगे बढ़ेगा।
सीएम ने कहा कि आज अनेक चुनौतियों का सामना करते हुए भी उत्तराखंड देश के प्रथम पंक्ति के राज्यों में अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज करा रहा है। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि सरकार चैती मंदिर को मानसखंड से जोड़कर एक प्रमुख सांस्कृतिक एवं आध्यात्मिक केंद्र के रूप में विकसित करने का काम कर रही है. सीएम ने कहा कि चैती मंदिर हमारे उत्तराखंड के द्वार पर है, इसलिए इसका मास्टर प्लान बनाया जाए ताकि मंदिर का भव्य स्वरूप बनाया जा सके.
उन्होंने कहा कि चैती मेला मंदिर से अब तक प्राप्त लगभग 13 करोड़ रुपये की राशि, जो कोष में जमा की गयी है, का उपयोग चैती मेला परिसर, मंदिर के विकास और मेले के आयोजन के लिए मास्टर प्लान बनाने में किया जाएगा. मुख्यमंत्री धामी ने कहा कि राज्य ने सबसे पहले समान नागरिकता का कानून लागू किया है. प्रदेश में नकल पर सख्त कानून भी बनाया गया जिससे पारदर्शिता के साथ 30 हजार युवाओं को रोजगार मिला है। सरकार काशीपुर के सर्वांगीण विकास के लिए कार्य कर रही है। सीएम ने कहा कि 133 एकड़ क्षेत्र में इलेक्ट्रॉनिक मैन्युफैक्चरिंग क्लस्टर पार्क विकसित किया जा रहा है. 16 औद्योगिक इकाइयां आवंटित की गई हैं।
सीएम ने कहा कि काशीपुर में करीब 1900 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से पेयजल, सीवरेज, सड़क सुधार, ट्रीटमेंट प्लांट जैसे काम तेजी से चल रहे हैं. इसके अलावा रोजगार और उद्योग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए 1100 करोड़ रुपये के इंडस्ट्रियल हब प्रोजेक्ट और 100 करोड़ रुपये के अरोमा पार्क प्रोजेक्ट पर काम किया जा रहा है. इससे स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था को लाभ होगा. शहर में बहुमंजिला पार्किंग और नए तहसील भवन का निर्माण कार्य चल रहा है।

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar AbdullahOn Monday, he strongly advocated against a bill brought by his own party’s MLA, which seeks to give land owners the right to cut walnut trees on their property.Omar said the passage of the bill will damage the country’s largest nut economy, of which Kashmir accounts for about 90 per cent, and will take away an important part of Jammu and Kashmir’s identity.The bill, introduced by National Conference MLA from Pahalgam Altaf Ahmed Wani, sought to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Specific Trees Preservation Act, 1969, to allow felling of walnut trees on private land.Under the 1969 law, no person is allowed to cut a walnut tree, whether on private or state land, without prior permission of the competent authority, and any violation of the law can attract a fine ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000.Defending his bill, Wani said that the law is creating a big problem for land owners because walnut trees occupy significant space, about three trees per kanal (0.05 hectare), and they do not give proper revenue to land owners.He said walnut was once a major source of income in Kashmir, but most of the trees have grown old and stopped yielding. Wani said that felling is largely done by the owners themselves, and over the years, many people have been injured and died due to falling from trees during felling. He advocated high density plantation in place of old trees.Wani said, “It is a strange law where I am not allowed to cut a tree standing on my own land. One has to knock on many doors to get permission, which has become a source of corruption.”However, Omar defended the restrictions, saying the law serves the broader objective of preserving walnut and poplar trees. He said that about 3.5 lakh metric tonnes of walnuts are produced annually in Jammu and Kashmir, which is about 90 percent of the total production of the country.The CM said walnut wood is integral to the handicraft industry, especially wood carving, and expressed concern that allowing felling of walnut trees could lead to concrete buildings being built in their place. “I am sure that once the walnut trees are cut down, the owners will build houses or other structures there,” Omar said. He said the government can consider changes only if walnuts are cultivated on the same land in place of the trees cut.Although the walnut industry faces competition from soft-shelled varieties from areas like California, Chile, Kashmiri walnuts are valued for their superior taste. Major export destinations of Kashmir walnut include UAE, Turkey, Iraq, Singapore, Algeria, Qatar, Bhutan, Kuwait, Seychelles and Nigeria.

Their system, known as Quipu, used knotted cords and color-coded wires to store records across a vast empire. For a long time it was believed that it was primarily numerical. Most recently, the research was accepted in February 2026, although it makes some broad suggestions. Some scientists reportedly view the quipu not simply as a counting device, but as a structured way of organizing and processing information. Almost like a primitive computing system. That idea has generated debate, curiosity, and even a little skepticism. Still, the possibility alone is interesting. Civilization without written script. Yet managing complex administrative data across different sectors.
What is the structure behind Quipu knots and Inca records?
For years, scholars such as Marcia Asher and Robert Asher argued that the Quipu knots likely represented a decimal-based numerical system. Each knot, each position, holds meaning in a structured way. Other researchers, including Sabine Hyland, have suggested that quipus may also encode linguistic elements. Symbols that can represent sounds or concepts. About 95 potential markers have been proposed in some studies. These characteristics appear to have meaning beyond simple counting. The structure seems layered, almost modular. This is not unlike how modern systems organize data into categories and subcategories.Single nodes alone do not explain the whole picture. उत्तर प्रदेश समाचार: उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस ने बड़ा फैसला लेते हुए 31 गंभीर मामलों में सीधे एफआईआर दर्ज करने पर रोक लगा दी है. अब इन मामलों में पीड़ितों को पहले मजिस्ट्रेट कोर्ट में शिकायत दर्ज करानी होगी. इस फैसले के पीछे इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट की हालिया टिप्पणी को मुख्य वजह माना जा रहा है. इसके बाद डीजीपी राजीव कृष्ण ने सभी पुलिस अधिकारियों को सख्त निर्देश जारी किये हैं.
किन मामलों में लागू होगा नया नियम
इस नए आदेश के तहत पुलिस अब दहेज उत्पीड़न, घरेलू हिंसा, चेक बाउंस, भ्रूण हत्या, पशु क्रूरता, पर्यावरण प्रदूषण, बाल श्रम, उपभोक्ता धोखाधड़ी और खाद्य मिलावट जैसे मामलों में सीधे एफआईआर दर्ज नहीं करेगी। इन मामलों में पहले कोर्ट में शिकायत दर्ज करानी होगी, जिसके बाद आगे की प्रक्रिया शुरू होगी.
डीजीपी का सख्त निर्देश
डीजीपी राजीव कृष्ण ने सभी थाना प्रभारियों और जांच अधिकारियों को स्पष्ट निर्देश दिया है कि एफआईआर दर्ज करने से पहले यह सुनिश्चित कर लें कि मामला पुलिस के अधिकार क्षेत्र में आता है या नहीं. उन्होंने चेतावनी दी है कि नियमों का उल्लंघन करने पर संबंधित पुलिसकर्मियों के खिलाफ विभागीय कार्रवाई की जायेगी.
हाईकोर्ट की सख्ती के बाद लिया गया फैसला
हाई कोर्ट की सख्त टिप्पणी के बाद यह फैसला लिया गया है. कोर्ट ने कहा था कि कई बार पुलिस गलत तरीके से एफआईआर दर्ज कर लेती है, जिससे आरोपियों को फायदा होता है और पीड़ित को न्याय मिलने में बाधा आती है. इस पर कोर्ट ने नाराजगी जताई थी.
दहेज के मामले में क्या है कानून?
दहेज निषेध अधिनियम 1961 के तहत दहेज लेने या देने पर 5 साल तक की कैद और 15,000 रुपये तक का जुर्माना हो सकता है। दहेज के लिए उत्पीड़न या मारपीट करने पर बीएनएस की धारा 498ए के तहत 3 साल तक की सजा का प्रावधान है।

Ranchi: Two illegal arms suppliers and armed criminals have been arrested following a raid conducted under Itki and Lapung police station (PS) limits on Sunday, police said on Monday.Superintendent of Police (Rural) Praveen Pushkar said arms dealers Shravan Singh and Suka Oran and a buyer Charo Minj were arrested under Itki PS limits, while Ashish was caught with weapons under Lapung PS. He said that a minor accompanying Ashish has also been detained.He said that Ashish and Shravan have criminal history as Ashish is an accused in six cases registered in Ranchi district and the other is an accused in one case registered in Itki police station. “One six-round revolver, two country-made pistols, three cartridges and one bullet and a bike have been seized from them,” he said.The SP said, “Police had received a secret information that two people were going from Bedo to Lapung with weapons to commit some crime. A team formed under the leadership of Bedo Deputy SP Ashok Ram conducted a raid to arrest Ashish along with the minor. The duo had planned to rob people at an isolated place.”Rural SP said, “During interrogation, the accused told that the weapons were purchased from Shravan and Suka, residents of Dola village of Itki.” Chanu, who bought the pistol from both of them, was arrested with the weapon.Police said that the arms suppliers used to bring weapons for sale from Lohardaga district.

Some passengers reported that concern spread quickly as cabin crew rushed to reassure passengers and calmly guide them on how to use masks while the plane prepared for diversion.Following the alert, the aircraft was diverted towards Lucknow and made a safe precautionary landing at CCSIA at 5.17 pm. Emergency response teams, including airport fire and medical services, were deployed in advance as part of standard protocol for such situations.All 148 passengers and crew were safely disembarked and taken to Terminal 3. Officials said no injuries were reported. A detailed inspection of the aircraft was conducted by the airport fire department and technical teams, but no visible signs of smoke or fire were found.Despite the absence of any immediate findings, the aircraft has been grounded as a safety measure and will return to service only after a comprehensive technical assessment and formal certification of airworthiness.The incident caused frustration among some passengers due to delays and uncertainty about onward travel. The administration placed a halt on asylum cases being handled by USCIS. Shooter Rahmanullah Lakanwal was deported from Afghanistan in 2021, when the US withdrew its troops from the country. CBS News reported that after three months of the moratorium, the administration has now decided to lift the moratorium on asylum adjudications for most cases except those filed by citizens of countries on the travel ban list.

There are mainly two types of asylum processes in the US – one handled by USCIS and the other handled by immigration courts. The first type was the one which had been on pause for the last few months. This is where people voluntarily file their case with USCIS to seek asylum in America. They have an interview with an asylum officer and if denied they are sent to immigration court. The second type is those handled by the immigration court. This process is defensive because the person goes to court to avoid deportation.
