The case of piracy has increased due to the telecast of Thalapathy Vijay's 'Jana Nayakgan' film on cable TV; Cable operator arrested
Thalapathy Vijay’s film ‘Jana Nayakan’ is facing a big piracy crisis. Following an online leak, the film was telecast illegally on a local cable TV channel in Coimbatore. A cable operator has been arrested and the equipment confiscated. The incident has added to the troubles of the film, which was already facing release delays due to certification issues.

Eagerly awaited film starring ‘Jana Nayakan’ Thalapathy VijayThere is going to be a devastating loss for the makers, because it has been leaked on the internet. Initially, about five minutes of footage surfaced on the internet, which quickly spread across multiple platforms, following which the entire film was leaked online. The unexpected piracy incident shocked the film’s makers and Vijay’s fans. The production house immediately issued a stern warning and asked people not to download or share the leaked content. He also said that strict civil and criminal action will be taken against those involved in spreading pirated copies. Many cinema stars reacted emotionally to the leak incident, condemning the situation and supporting steps to tackle the piracy syndicate.

New controversy has arisen due to illegal telecast of ‘Jana Nayakan’

The second bomb exploded just as the organization was dealing with reputational damage following online leaks. On 11 April, the film ‘Jana Nayakan’ was reportedly telecast on a local cable TV channel in parts of Coimbatore district. According to Nakkheeran, the illegal broadcasting took place in Karumathampatti and surrounding areas. This development surprised many of Vijay’s fans, as the film is yet to receive a proper theatrical release. Many viewers in the area watched the broadcast and informed local supporters of Vijay. Soon after, TVK District Administrator Mohanpriya lodged a complaint at the Karumathampatti police station, demanding strict action against those responsible for screening the unreleased film on cable television.

Cable operator arrested and equipment confiscated

The police went to the complainant’s location and found the cable operator who had shown the film illegally. Police also arrested Palanisamy, who was accused of illegal telecast of the film ‘Jana Nayakan’. The accused was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody. Additionally, police seized the cable operator as well as all items used in the broadcast, such as a computer and five hard disks. Sealing the Cable House office was also part of the investigation. Authorities believe the seized equipment could help trace the source of the pirated copy and reveal how the film reached the cable network.

Censor issues and release delays added to the film’s troubles.

The piracy problem comes at a time when ‘Jana Nayakan’ is already facing delays due to certification issues Central Board of Film Certification. The producers of the film had approached the courts to resolve the issue, but later withdrew the case and resubmitted the film for certification. Reports suggest that the Censor Board has recommended that Election Commission of India The final decision should be taken as the election code of conduct is in force. Due to these complications, the film’s planned release on January 9 was postponed several times, affecting overseas and OTT business deals. Meanwhile, investigation into the piracy case is ongoing.

Today's Quote by Rosalind Franklin:
Quote of the Day by Rosalind Franklin (Image source: Britannica)

Some scientists are distinguished not only for their discoveries, but also for how clearly they saw responsibility and progress. One such person was Rosalind Franklin. She was famous for her groundbreaking work on DNA structure, and she also strongly believed that scientific work should aim high. Her words often revealed that she thought deeply about life, not only about her own success but also about how people’s actions would affect the future. This quote represents a moment to think about how people see the future. This shows two different ways of thinking. One that focuses on individual outcomes and another that considers the larger impact on future generations. Simply put, it asks a question. Are choices being made only for short-term gains, or are they also thinking about what will happen next for other people? This idea is still important in many parts of life today. The decisions we take today will impact many areas in the future such as science and technology, environment and society. Franklin’s words draw attention to this link and push toward a broader perspective.

Quote of the Day by Rosalind Franklin

“Your faith depends on you and the future of others as a person, on my future, and on the fate of our heirs. It seems to me that your faith is more selfish.”

What this quote from Rosalind Franklin really means in simple words

This quote may seem difficult to understand at first. But when you analyze it its meaning will become clear. Rosalind Franklin is looking at two different perspectives. One approach focuses on the individual. It focuses on personal success, short-term goals and outcomes that help the individual or those around them. The second approach goes even further. It thinks about the long-term future and the people who come after.Franklin calls the first approach “more selfish”, emphasizing the importance of considering more than just one’s own interests. The quote doesn’t say that personal goals are bad. It says decisions should also consider how they will affect other people, especially those who will live in the future.

The scientific mindset behind the quote

Franklin’s work required precision, patience, and a long-term view. Her DNA research did not immediately give her results. This required careful observation and dedication to understanding the complex structures that would later become fundamental to contemporary biology. This kind of work makes you think about the future. Scientific discoveries can take years to achieve their full impact. The person who made the discovery may not even see the benefit. This quote shows how this person thinks. This shows how Franklin saw his work as more than just a personal success; He saw it as a way to add to a large store of knowledge that would help future generations.

Individual Success vs. Collective Responsibility

The paradox of the quote draws attention to an important idea. Individual success and collective responsibility are not always mutually exclusive, but they need to be balanced.People often think about short-term gains in many situations. It could mean advancing in your career, making money, or receiving praise. These are good goals, but they don’t always consider how decisions will impact the future.Franklin’s words remind us that the impact of what we do can last far beyond the present. When people and groups think about future generations, they can make choices that will last longer and be better for everyone.

Why is this quote still relevant today?

There are many examples in the modern world where thinking long term is important. When making decisions about climate change, technological advancements, and public health, you need to think about how they will affect the future. For example, the need to protect resources for future generations often influences environmental policies. Similarly, new technologies make people wonder how they will change society over time.Franklin’s quote fits right into these things. This shows how important it is to think about the bigger picture and not just the short-term benefits of actions.

A Glimpse at the Life and Work of Rosalind Franklin

Rosalind Franklin was a British chemist and X-ray crystallographer whose research helped us learn much about the structure of DNA. His famous photograph, often called “Photo 51”, was very important in helping scientists figure out the double helix structure of DNA.His work was part of a larger scientific effort, but it stood out because it was so clear and precise. Even though she had to deal with problems in a field that was mostly a male domain, she continued to do her research with focus and dedication.Franklin did much more than just work with DNA. He also made important discoveries about viruses and the structure of coal and graphite. His systematic and evidence-based approach to science is evident in the way he says it.

How does this perspective apply to everyday life

Even though this quote is from a scientific context, it can be used in everyday life. People often have to make choices that impact not only themselves but also those around them. For example, choices about school, work, or how to live may affect family members and your prospects in the future. Actions that are good for the environment, such as cutting waste or saving resources, also have a long-term impact.Franklin’s words make people think about these larger impacts. If you think about how your actions will affect other people, especially in the future, you can make more balanced choices.

Importance of thinking beyond the present

One of the main points of the quote is that it is important to think about more than just the present. Immediate results may be tempting, but they don’t always tell the whole story.Planning and being patient are both parts of long-term thinking. This means thinking about how what you do today will affect what happens in the future. People often use this method in other fields, including science, education, and public policy.Franklin’s statement shows that only thinking about the present can make it difficult to understand. People can make choices without thinking about how their actions will impact future generations.

Lessons for future generations

This quote is a reminder for future generations to think more broadly. This means that progress includes not only individual success but also contribution to the collective purpose. In school, this idea can get students thinking about how they can use what they know to help other people. In the workplace, it can inspire people to answer long-standing problems.Franklin’s words can help us think broadly about responsibility.

Other famous quotes from Rosalind Franklin

  • “Science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated.”
  • “In science, facts and evidence matter more than opinion.”
  • “The structure of DNA is not just a discovery, it is the foundation of understanding life.”
  • “Work and research require patience, accuracy and dedication.”

A lasting message from quotes

Rosalind Franklin’s quote gives a clear and important perspective on how people see the future. This becomes a point of showing the difference between thinking about your own consequences and thinking about the well-being of future generations. It emphasizes the importance of being responsible in both thought and action by encouraging a broad perspective. The idea is the same whether it is in science or everyday life. The choices we make today impact the world that future generations will live in.Franklin’s words are still important because they answer a simple but important question. Do people only do what’s good for them now, or do they also think about what will happen to other people in the future?

Campaign jingles are an old election staple, but now AI is crafting them. india news

Campaign jingles are an old election staple, but now AI is crafting them

As Tamil Nadu goes to polls on April 23, the election campaign is getting a new soundtrack – catchy, hyperlocal, AI-generated songs designed to stay in the minds of voters long after the rallies are over. From Coimbatore to the Cauvery Delta, candidates are trying to strike the right chord with voters through customized campaign tunes, with over 30 songs composed during the nomination phase alone. And this is no low-budget side act. Parties and candidates are willing to spend anywhere between Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 per song to increase their reach. The Playbook goes far beyond wall posters and van announcements. Political parties are now blending music, AI and social media algorithms to push more targeted campaigns, particularly on Instagram and Facebook, where ads are being tailored to suit budgets and voter demographics through meta ads.At the center of this fusion of music and politics is a growing ecosystem of AI creators. Ninth Direction’s creative head R Loganathan says they have delivered more than 30 AI-generated songs for 15 candidates alone, including many in Coimbatore. “Unlike previous elections, AI is now being used for better public outreach, especially through AI-generated campaign songs,” he told TOI. “There is a similar demand from DMK and ADMK candidates as well as some DMK alliance parties like Congress and Left parties. His client list spans party lines and geographies – from DMK and ADMK candidates in Tiruppur, Coimbatore and the Delta to DMK alliance candidates in the southern districts. Loganathan says his journalism background is helping him craft songs better tailored to individual candidates. “I have also received requests from former ministers for song packages ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000. Depending on the package chosen, we provide a song in different tunes to the candidate. But the trend of digital is not limited to songs only. Campaigns are also going global. Sources say the DMK’s IT wing is running an intensive social media operation from the UAE, targeting audiences abroad and using platforms like TikTok, which is banned in India but is active in several Gulf countries. A Dubai-based social media manager confirmed the scale of that effort, saying that the DMK’s IT machinery is more robust there than rival parties. “To connect with the Tamil audience here, they use extensive SEO strategies,” he said. “TikTok is banned in India, but it is active in many other countries, including the Gulf, allowing them to share content from Tamil Nadu and reach Tamil populations abroad.”At home, campaign professionals say the real change came during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, when the use of meta ads and algorithm-driven targeting increased. A popular YouTuber, now working as a freelance social media manager for the DMK, said this strategy has since become central to the IT wing of every major party.“Meta ads help target demographics and interests, while paid search engine optimization helps candidates better connect with niche and younger audiences,” he said. “For Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, it is easier because they are already using songs that are trending. But candidates who are new to social media or less active online have to rely heavily on paid promotions, and algorithms designed to deliver ads to targeted audiences in specific locations. But in the digital campaign sector, the price of visibility is very high. The more a candidate spends, the more often they appear on voters’ screens, the YouTuber said. “Although there is an official limit on election spending for each candidate, many spend over their budget through third-party services that are not reported.”

Not Vijay, it’s Vij-ai

He waved, grabbed the mic and was seen talking to the crowd. As a campaign vehicle of the Tamil Nadu Vettri Kazhagam passed through Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu, for a few seconds many in the audience thought that party chief Vijay had actually arrived in person. Calls started coming in, discussions started circulating and excitement spread rapidly. But the crowd-pulling spectacle was actually a technological trick: an AI-powered holographic projection of the actor-turned-politician, mounted on a vehicle, with synchronized speech, realistic gestures and a surprisingly lifelike appearance that quickly went viral online. And this idea is gaining momentum. The companies behind the technology say candidates from all parties are now enquiring, with some even looking for holographic recreations of political icons like M Karunanidhi and J Jayalalitha.

Hologram campaigning in itself is not new – PM Modi used it in the 2014 general election – but the latest version comes with an AI boost. Better lip-sync, seamless body movement and easy portability are making these projections more effective even in small towns and rural areas. The Kumbakonam show was reportedly organized by a team of just six people, including young engineers, using a 3D hologram fan display system for sharper, more dynamic visuals than traditional projectors. However, this technology is not cheap, costing around Rs 50,000 per day.

Wisden condemns India over ‘Orwellian’ governance (screengrab/x)

The 2026 Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack, to be published on Thursday, says the game’s previous USP as a “refuge from realpolitik” has been poisoned by the increasing politicization of the game under the “Orwellian” influence of India. The “Notes by the Editor” of the 163rd edition of the annual took aim at India’s growing political influence on the game, saying “Cricket has become a key piece on the BJP’s geopolitical chessboard”.Editor Lawrence Booth writes, “Was there a more blatant indictment of the governance of the game in 2025 than Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s claim that ‘politics and sports cannot go together’? Perhaps he had forgotten that he was also his country’s interior minister.”Booth refers to 2025 Mains asia cupHeld in the United Arab Emirates, “a tit-for-tat showdown ensued, with players from both sides making tasteless gestures about fighter planes, and India refusing to come on stage to receive the trophy from Naqvi”. The Asia Cup was played amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan as it was the first time the two faced each other on the cricket field after Operation Sindoor following the massacre by terrorists in Pahalgam. India won and refused to join hands with Pakistan.“It was clear long before this latest assumption that the BCCI was a sporting arm of India’s ruling BJP,” Booth wrote, “but the relationship became clear when India captain Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the first of his team’s three Asia Cup victories over Pakistan to the armed forces.” And the idea that cricket was now a legitimate proxy for more lethal activity was hammered home on “Now it was being compared to the game of T20.”Booth lamented that the administration of the game was “becoming more Orwellian, pretending that Indian exceptionalism comes without any consequences”. He also wrote that the decision by Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur Rahman “confirmed cricket’s fall into the hands of political masters”.

Biden VP pick 2020: ‘She was ready to say yes…’: Report claims Joe Biden ‘wanted’ someone other than Kamala Harris for US VP post in 2020

'She was ready to say yes...': Report claims Joe Biden 'wanted' someone other than Kamala Harris for US Vice President post in 2020

Former US President Joe Biden preferred Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer as his running mate in 2020, but ultimately had to choose Kamala Harris, according to a report cited by The Atlantic. The profile was published Sunday and focused on Whitmer as a potential 2028 presidential contender. It claimed Biden “wanted it to be like Whitmer” after being impressed by her response to President Donald Trump during his first term. However, the political climate following the Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests following the death of George Floyd played a significant role in the final decision. On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a black man, was killed by a police officer in Minneapolis, sparking global protests against racism and police brutality.“It seemed like all this attention might add up to something,” the report said, “and by the summer of 2020, Whitmer was being considered for the vice presidential nomination.”It added: “She wasn’t sure about it at first, people familiar with her thinking at the time told me; she was struggling to imagine herself as a creature of Washington, D.C.. However, she got along well with Biden, and when he asked her to fly to Delaware for a personal conversation, she was ready to say yes. Biden didn’t ask.”The report also cites a former senior Whitmer staffer who said, “There was a need for a Black running mate in this moment,” suggesting that Biden’s ultimate choice of Harris was influenced by other political considerations. A former adviser to both Biden and Harris was also quoted as saying the claim holds “some weight.”Despite not being selected, Whitmer continued to support the Biden campaign and later confirmed that she had gone through the vetting process.“If Joe Biden had called and said, ‘I want you to run and be my running mate,’ I would have said yes,” Whitmer told Fox 2. He further said, “This election was very important.”The report also said Whitmer was the first potential nominee to meet with Biden in person during the vice-presidential selection process in August 2020.Harris also said she initially refrained from pressuring Biden to remove her from office because she did not want to appear “self-serving,” adding that she remained loyal under increasing political pressure.Biden ultimately chose Harris as his running mate in 2020, and she became vice president. She replaced Biden as the Democratic nominee in 2024 after he withdrew from the race, before losing the election to MAGA leader Donald Trump.

Why Kamal Haasan missed the big role in multi-starrer Tamil Nadu politics. india news

Why did Kamal Haasan miss out on a big role in multi-starrer TN Politics?

last month, when Kamal Haasan Anna went to Arivalayam DMK Headquartered in Chennai, to accept Rajya Sabha nomination from CM MK Stalin, it marked the end of the road Makkal Needhi Mayyam (MNM) founder’s promise to provide an alternative to the two Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu.Haasan launched MNM in February 2018 to tap anger against power. MNM’s first political promo ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections featured the actor breaking a TV set on which a speech was being played, apparently by Stalin. Cut to 2026 and, accepting the Rajya Sabha nomination, Haasan “generously” surrendered the three assembly seats that the DMK had offered to the MNM as an alliance offer. Why did Haasan, who redefined success in films, fail to live up to his promise as a politician? The mistakes, perhaps, started early. MNM, true to its name (‘Maiyam’ meaning centre), seeks to be a centrist force representing various sections of the society. That position itself was seen as lacking credibility, as Haasan was known for his leftist views long before his political entry. Being at the center of political discussion also reeks of political conflict. In the electoral arena, MNM faced continuous electoral failures. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, it contested 37 seats and did not win a single seat with 3.7% vote share. In the 2021 assembly elections, it fielded candidates on 154 seats, won none and its vote share dropped to 2.5%. In neighboring Puducherry it got only 1.8 percent votes. Ahead of the 2024 general elections, MNM joined the DMK-led alliance. After the demise of influential leaders like Jayalalitha and M Karunanidhi, many saw a new political space in Tamil Nadu, which film personalities like Haasan and Rajinikanth could potentially fill. While Haasan took the risk, Rajinikanth postponed his political plans in late 2020 citing health concerns.Haasan’s core team included people from diverse professional backgrounds – IAS officer Santosh Babu, retired IPS officer AG Maurya, businessman R Mahendran, entrepreneur CK Kumaravel, social activist Kameela Nasir, actor director Sripriya and writer Suka. Despite being notable in their respective fields, they were all political novices, and Haasan failed to attract veterans from other parties.Anusha Ravi, a lawyer who was MNM campaign secretary, says she joined the party attracted by Haasan’s call for change. “But, soon, he lost his confidence and I felt demoralized,” says Ravi, who will join the BJP in 2024. Haasan is fond of cinema, but not politics. Some political analysts believe that Hassan lacks a coherent political strategy. “The MNM has a weak organizational structure and limited connect with the people,” says political commentator Aazhi Senthilnathan. “Haasan’s appeal is largely limited to urban voters. After the 2019 defeat, many key members left the party, with some joining other parties like the DMK.”Political analyst Priyan Srinivasan says Haasan was unsure how to deal with the setbacks. He says, “Election defeat is normal; You have to have a plan to take the party forward.” “Look at the name Tamil Nadu Katchi. It faced several defeats, but its leader Seeman is less dejected and keeps the party relevant.Viduthalai Chiruthigal Katchi (VCK) general secretary D Ravikumar says Haasan’s electoral defeat by a narrow margin to Vanathi Srinivasan in Coimbatore in 2019 was a turning point. “Had he won, his political career would have been different. Sustaining a political party requires patience, grassroots work and long-term commitment,” says Ravikumar, who describes Haasan’s stay in the DMK as “pragmatic and retrograde”.Haasan, known as ‘Sakalakala Vallavan (Master of all Arts)’ in cinema, is known for displaying intellectual depth and creative outspokenness. However, many of his works struggled to connect with rural audiences, as his ideas were sometimes ahead of their time. Under the guidance of legendary director K Balachander, Haasan became one of the most famous actors of South India.Yet, the transition from cinema to politics brings a different set of challenges, where individual talent must give way to collective leadership and organizational strength.Haasan is not the first big star to fail in politics. Legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan tried his luck with the DMK and Congress before founding Thamizhaga Munnetra Munnani in 1988. After failing to make a mark in the 1989 elections, it merged with the Janata Dal. For Tamil Nadu’s latest film-to-politics crossover star TVK Neta Vijay, Haasan’s journey holds many lessons.Foreigner StarsMG Ramachandran The actor joined DMK after leaving Congress in 1953. In 1969 he was appointed party treasurer. In 1972, after internal differences led to his expulsion from the DMK, MGR formed his own party, the ADMK. He will be Chief Minister twice and will remain in office for 10 years.J Jayalalithaa She joined the ADMK in 1982 and rose rapidly to become its publicity secretary by 1983. Known as ‘Purachi Thalaivi’, or ‘Revolutionary Leader’, she was a five-time CM and was the ADMK chief, becoming the longest serving general secretary of the party.Shivaji Ganesan After leaving Congress, he founded Thamizhaga Munnetra Munnani Party in 1988. But the party failed to win seats in the 1989 elections, leading him to briefly join the Janata Dal before retiring from politics.Vijaykant Founded DMDK in 2005 and has been MLA from the party twice. DMDK emerged as the second largest party in the 2011 assembly elections and Vijayakanth remained the leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly from 2011 to 2016.R Sarath Kumar The actor founded the All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) in 2007. After leading the party for more than 16 years, he merged it with the BJP in 2024, citing the need for stronger collective action and ideological alignment with PM Modi.
