Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee attacked on saturday BJP During the Eid-ul-Fitr program in Kolkata, she accused the Modi government of trying to usurp powers through SIR and impose President’s rule in the state, saying she stands with all castes, communities and creeds.Speaking after Eid prayers at Red Road, Banerjee alleged that the SIR was part of a wider attempt to influence the electoral process in the state, saying, “People’s names were removed in the SIR. I went from Kolkata to Delhi, Calcutta High Court to the Supreme Court for this. I hope people’s rights will be protected.”Mamata received loud applause from the gathering when she said, “Those who are targeting Bengal and trying to divide the people should go to hell.” His comments come amid a growing political controversy over the voter list verification process, which the TMC has repeatedly said is an attempt to remove the names of genuine voters, especially from minority-dominated areas, ahead of the assembly elections.Referring to Bengal’s long-standing tradition of communal harmony, the Chief Minister said the state would not allow attempts to divide the society to succeed.Mamata said, “Bengal believes in unity. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, everyone lives together here. We will not allow anyone to break this social fabric.” She said, “I stand with all castes, communities and creeds in Bengal. I will continue this fight. We will not let Modi ji take away our rights.”Mamata also accused the Center of trying to control the state government. “You are trying to forcibly take control of our government, you want to impose President’s rule. She said she would not be afraid, “Those who are afraid die.” “Those who fight are successful in life.” Elections for the 294-member West Bengal Assembly will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29, with counting taking place on May 4.On Friday, TMC also approached the Calcutta High Court challenging the transfer of several IAS and IPS officers to West Bengal by the Election Commission of India after the announcement of assembly elections.
