19-year-old youth arrested for stealing cash from temple donation box in Mumbai's Kandivali

Mumbai: Kandivali police have arrested a 19-year-old youth for breaking into the donation box of a temple and stealing cash in Kandivali West. With the arrest of accused Armaan Sheikh, the police solved two other theft crimes, one at a liquor shop in Andheri and the other at a temple in Borivali.The latest incident was recorded at a Ganesh temple in Kandivali on the intervening night of May 13 and 14. Temple officials found that the donation box had been broken into and Rs 60,000 had been stolen. Kandivali police had registered an FIR. Investigators viewed footage from nearby cameras. They found that two persons were involved in the theft and they had traveled to Kandivali by train from Naigaon. After thorough investigation, Sheikh was caught from Ekta Nagar Creek area.Sheikh has a history of four previous crimes, including theft at other temples, motorcycle theft and child sexual abuse.Police said that he lives in Rathori village of Malvani. The arrest was made by a police team under the supervision of DCP Sandeep Ghuge and senior inspector Karan Sonkawade.
