2 Indians safe on board ship affected by Hantavirus

New Delhi: The Indian Embassy in Madrid on Sunday said two Indian crew members aboard the Dutch-flagged cruise ship MV Hondius are healthy and have no symptoms, after the ship had to anchor off Spain’s Canary Islands due to the Hantavirus scare.The ship, carrying about 150 people, arrived in Spain amid international health surveillance over a hantavirus outbreak on board the ship. Passengers were allowed to disembark following the protocols set by WHO and Spanish authorities.According to the embassy, ​​both the Indians have now been flown to the Netherlands where they will undergo quarantine and health monitoring as per safety protocols. “Both Indian nationals are healthy and have no symptoms,” the embassy said in a statement issued on May 10.
