Teddi Mellencamp fights back tears as he presents his father John Mellencamp with the iHeartRadio Icon Award: ‘He pretty much saved my son’ | english movie news

Teddi Mellencamp fights back tears as she presents her father John Mellencamp with the iHeartRadio Icon Award: 'He pretty much saved my son'

Teddi Mellencamp stood on the stage at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, holding back tears as she honored the musician who is also her father: John Mellencamp. The night was supposed to be all about the music, but for Teddy, it was something much more raw. She looked out into the crowd with a trembling voice and said that her father “pretty much saved my life.” This is what he meant; John Mellencamp was with her through her toughest battle: battling stage 4 cancer.

Teddi Mellencamp’s tearful tribute to John Mellencamp

When Teddi presented the Icon Award to her father, John Mellencamp, her speech stopped everyone. He didn’t just talk about his father as a rock legend. She wanted people to know him as the father who raised her, kept her grounded and showed up in small moments, like cheering embarrassingly loudly at her volleyball game, giving goosebumps to moms in the stands.“Tonight we celebrate the career of my father, John Mellencamp,” Teddi began his short tribute. “But before I tell you the story of artist John Mellencamp, I want to tell you his story as a father. He is being revered as an icon, a legend, a hitmaker, but to me he will always be ‘Dad.’People always asked Teddy what it was like growing up with a famous father, but he thought it was normal. “In my eyes, it was no different than anyone else’s,” she said, crying. “They gave me advice, they grounded me, they felt good about me.”Sure, there were some surreal moments, like hearing “Jack & Diane” yelling in the Uber, or seeing strangers singing “Hurts So Good” at karaoke. But to Teddy, the song that meant the most was “Longest Days.”She quoted the song’s lyrics, her voice charming: “In it he sings, ‘But nothing lasts forever/Your best efforts don’t always succeed/Sometimes when you get sick, you don’t get any better/That’s when life is short, even on its longest days.'”For Teddy, that line hit home. Exactly a year ago, his cancer had spread to his brain and lungs. Days passed in the hospital and life suddenly seemed very short. But John refused to let those songs become his story.“He stepped in, took control, fought for me and changed my life to a great extent, saved my life,” she said. “Oh, we’re celebrating the icon, the artist, the man the whole world knows as John Mellencamp. A man I call dad, and he’s my best friend.”When John came to accept the award, he barely glanced at it before handing it back to his daughter Teddy.

How did John Mellencamp “save” his daughter’s life?

Teddy’s words were not just for show. According to People, she’s been through hell: first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, then watching the cancer spread to her brain and lungs. She has had 17 surgeries, brain tumor removal and endless immunotherapy. At his lowest, the hospital days seemed endless. And through every part of it, her father stayed close to her: flying from Indiana to Los Angeles, sitting with her through every treatment and hospital stay. He was there for the good days and the bad days, he never let her give up, even when things seemed hopeless.By the end of 2025, Teddy’s doctors can no longer detect cancer, although he is still being treated and examined. Throughout it all, her father wasn’t just moral support. He fought alongside her, helping her believe she could get through it.

More About John Mellencamp and Teddi Mellencamp

John Mellencamp, now 74, helped shape American rock with his “Heartland rock” style. He is the composer of classic tracks like ‘Jack & Diane’, ‘Pink Houses’ and ‘Small Town’. For more than forty years, he has been singing about everyday American life. However, beyond earning a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and helping launch Farm Aid to support farmers, fame isn’t everything for Mellencamp. He is the father of five children including Teddy and is a complete family man.As for her daughter Teddi Mellencamp, she rose to fame on ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’. She is also known for her work as a fitness coach and podcast host. His public image focuses on accountability, wellness and honesty, values he has maintained throughout his battle with cancer. Since receiving her diagnosis, Teddy has been surprisingly open about what she’s been through. He has shared details about his surgeries, setbacks and emotional ups and downs. She has turned a deeply personal thing into a way to connect with others and show that strength is not in never stumbling, but in getting back up every time you stumble.

Dubai International Airport’s surprise gifts leave those saying goodbye emotional: What’s inside the viral ‘DXB gift pack’?

Dubai International Airport's surprise gifts leave those saying goodbye emotional: What's inside the viral 'DXB gift pack'?
Tears at DXB: The surprise gift given by Dubai International Airport that is melting hearts around the world

In a week filled with regional uncertainty amid travel disruptions, the Iran vs. US-Israel war and emotional departures, something unexpected unfolded at Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest airports, and it had nothing to do with flights. At DXB (as Dubai International Airport is commonly known), passengers leaving the city were greeted not only with a boarding call and security check but also with small, heartfelt gifts.the signal is gone viralTransforming routine departures into deeply emotional moments.

When Dubai International Airport became more than a transit point

Airports are usually associated with efficiency, immediacy and mobility but in recent times, DXB has quietly transformed into something else. It is a place of reassurance and emotional connection in the present. Amid the disruptions associated with regional tensions and unstable travel conditions due to the Iran vs. US–Israel war, airport staff began distributing souvenir packs to departing passengers. The initiative was not announced with much fanfare. There were no grand campaigns. Instead, it appeared organically at the boarding gate, just as passengers were ready to depart and that timing made all the difference.

What’s inside the now-viral “DXB Gift Pack”?

At first glance, the ingredients are simple:

  • Dubai-themed fridge magnets
  • Key chains depicting city skyline
  • a printed thank you note

However, it’s the message behind the items that has resonated the most. The note expresses gratitude to passengers for their patience during the disruption and reassures them that their safety and well-being remains a top priority. Some editions include iconic imagery such as the Burj Khalifa, turning the pack into a symbolic monument of the city. What may seem like a small symbol actually turns out to be much more meaningful.

Why are travelers getting emotional after seeing the viral “DXB Gift Pack”?

The response has been overwhelming and deeply personal. Travelers from different countries have shared stories of crying at the boarding gate, of unexpectedly being “seen” and feeling valued, and of experiencing comfort during an already emotional goodbye. One resident described the moment as something that “opened up” her emotions and said the gesture came just when she needed reassurance. Another shared how her parents initially thought the pack was official paperwork, only to later realize it was a gift of appreciation, turning a routine farewell into a memorable moment. In a space defined by movement, DXB managed to create peace, if only for a moment. To understand why this initiative has gained so much popularity, you have to look at the broader background. The UAE and the wider region have recently experienced airspace disruptions, flight delays and cancellations, and heightened geopolitical tensions amid the Iran versus US-Israel war. These factors have made travel more stressful than usual, with uncertainty becoming a constant companion for many travelers. In that context, the DXB gesture serves a very specific purpose and that is to humanize the travel experience in times of instability. Even small acts of empathy can weigh disproportionately heavily when people are already facing anxiety, delays and emotional departures.

“Uniquely Dubai”: brand beyond infrastructure

Dubai has long built its global reputation on scale, speed and ostentation, but this moment highlights another dimension: intentional hospitality. Travelers and residents alike have described this feeling as “distinctly Dubai”, a reflection of the city’s warmth and proof that the city prioritizes people, not just systems.Frequent travelers have noticed that despite passing through airports around the world, they had never experienced anything quite like it. This is where Dubai’s soft power comes into play, not through skyscrapers or luxury but through emotional intelligence in public spaces. What started as a simple initiative soon gained popularity online. Social media platforms have been flooded with pictures of souvenir packs, videos of travelers receiving them and emotional testimonials from residents. A recurring theme in these posts is, “This is why Dubai feels like home.” The prevalence of posts reflects the global appetite for positive, human-centered narratives, especially during a time dominated by crisis headlines. This little prompt generated such a huge reaction because it uses three powerful emotional triggers. Gifts given at the most emotional point of the trip, the goodbye. The passengers did not expect anything, which made the gesture seem more genuine. The message acknowledged passengers’ patience and presence, something people rarely feel in larger systems. In short, DXB transformed a transactional experience into a relational one. Globally, airports are evolving but mostly in terms of technology, efficiency and luxury. What DXB has done is different. It has introduced emotional design into travel infrastructure. Instead of asking,“How can we move people faster?” In this moment the airport asked, “How can we make people feel better?” That change, no matter how temporary, is important. For many UAE residents, especially expatriates, airports are highly emotional places. They are places where families reunite and separate, lives move between countries and identities spread across borders. By putting empathy into that space, Dubai has effectively redefined what departure can feel like. As one passenger put it, this gesture turned a routine moment into a “key memory”, something that lasts long after the flight has taken off.Beyond the viral moment, this story signals a broader trend that cities are being evaluated not just on infrastructure, but also on how they treat people in moments of vulnerability. In this case, the cost of the gift is minimal but the emotional returns are very high. It’s a reminder that in high-functioning systems, the human touch is still the ultimate differentiator. At a time when travel has become more unpredictable and emotionally charged, Dubai International Airport has managed to do something rare. It stopped people, made them feel and in some cases, it made them cry, not because of stress but because of gratitude because sometimes, the most powerful trips are not defined by where you go, but by how a place makes you feel when you leave.

Congress President hints at supporting Center in 2029New Delhi: Rejecting the Centre’s latest offer of a meeting to discuss amendments to the Women’s Reservation Bill, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday wrote to the Modi government saying the opposition is “extremely busy” in the assembly election campaign and reiterated the demand that the government call an all-party meeting after April 29 when polling for the elections will close. However, for the first time since talks of amending the quota bill began, Kharge has indicated the opposition’s readiness to facilitate the implementation of 33% women reservation in legislatures from 2029. Also, it is learned that the government has formally told Kharge that it wants to separate the census and delimitation from the women’s quota issue.Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday wrote a letter to Kharge demanding a meeting to discuss the issue. In response, Kharge rebuked the government for being “too hasty” in “amending a constitutional amendment act 30 months after it is passed”, and asked to wait till the end of the elections.“We are all extremely busy with the election campaign. That is why we had suggested that the meeting be held after the campaign is over,” he wrote.

‘Married to Modi ji’: PM Modi laughed when Mallikarjun Kharge made fun of Deve Gowda in Rajya Sabha

On Tuesday, except TMC, the opposition India Bloc wrote to the government saying it should call an all-party brainstorm on amendments to the landmark bill. It demanded that the government circulate its proposal for amendments in advance for better discussion. Kharge has twice before rejected the government’s appeal for only Congress meeting and asked to discuss the issue with the entire opposition camp.Attacking the government, Kharge wrote, “During the debate in the Rajya Sabha on September 21, 2023, I myself had demanded immediate implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023, but the government did not agree to my demand.”Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said the implication of the government’s latest petition is that it wants to amend Section 334-A(1), which is sudden as this section of the Constitution was passed only two years ago. Pointing to the ongoing elections, he said, “The Election Commission’s model code of conduct has been changed to the Modi campaign code. Convening a special two-day session on any day in April would be a violation of one MCC but in line with the other.

Trump extends Hormuz deadline even as attacks continue; Oil prices soften: What’s happening in the US-Israel vs Iran war?

Trump extends Hormuz deadline even as attacks continue; Oil prices soften: What's happening in the US-Israel vs Iran war?

US President Donald Trump has extended a moratorium on strikes targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure until early April, as Washington signaled that diplomacy is its preferred path in the escalating conflict. The temporary pause, announced for 10 days, comes amid Trump’s claims that talks with Tehran are progressing, although the situation on the ground suggests continued instability. Oil prices fell after Trump announced a 10-day moratorium on attacks targeting the country’s energy infrastructure, heading for their sharpest weekly decline in six months. The war, now in its fourth week, has escalated rapidly from its initial flashpoint after the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran after nuclear talks failed. The conflict has since spread across the Middle East, spilling over into several countries, disrupting vital oil routes and sending global energy prices higher, which has had a knock-on effect on financial markets. However, conflicting narratives have emerged around the pause, with mediators indicating that Iran has made no request to halt energy-site attacks, raising questions over the scope and intent of the move. As military operations continue on multiple fronts and diplomatic efforts intensify, here is a look at the latest developments shaping the crisis.

Trump expands attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure

US President Donald Trump has extended a moratorium on attacks targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure until early April, while Washington continues diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict. Announcing the move on social media, Trump said the moratorium would last for 10 days until April 6, adding that negotiations with Tehran were “going very well” despite critics’ skepticism. The four-week war, which began after the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28 following failed nuclear talks, spread across the Middle East, killing thousands of people and sending global markets into turmoil. The disruption has sent energy prices soaring and raised fears of rising inflation around the world. However, signs of success remain uncertain. “As requested by the Iranian government, please use this statement to indicate that I am suspending the period of power plant destruction for 10 days until Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 pm Eastern Time. “Negotiations are ongoing and, despite misrepresentations from the fake news media and others, they are going very well,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

Mediators say Iran has not requested to stop attacks on energy sites

The Wall Street Journal, citing mediators, reported that Iran has not requested a 10-day moratorium on its energy attacks. Trump previously claimed he had given Iran a 10-day cooling-off period in response to Tehran’s “gift” of allowing eight oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz while stopping planned attacks on its high-value energy infrastructure.“He said to me very nicely through my people, ‘Can we get more time?’ Because we’re talking about tomorrow night, which is very early, and if they don’t do what they have to do, I will shut down their power plants,” Trump said. However, the temporary relief comes with a caveat. Trump has indicated that if talks fail to produce results, the United States could resume or even intensify strikes, maintaining pressure on Iran while maintaining room for negotiation.

oil prices fall

Oil prices fell after Trump announced a 10-day moratorium on attacks targeting the country’s energy infrastructure, heading for their sharpest weekly decline in six months.Brent crude futures slipped 84 cents, or 0.8%, to $107.17 a barrel by 0353 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate fell $1.02, or 1.1%, to $93.46 a barrel, erasing some of the previous session’s gains.Despite a bounce on Thursday on fears of further gains, both benchmarks were down about 4.6% overall for the week.

Rubio seeks support from G7 after Trump criticizes NATO allies

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in France to meet his Group of Seven counterparts, as Washington seeks to drum up support for its approach to the Iran conflict amid growing differences with allies.Rubio faces a difficult task in convincing the G7 countries to engage with the US strategy, as most countries express reservations about the war. The conflict has been met with deep suspicion by many of America’s closest partners, complicating diplomatic efforts. The challenge has been heightened by President Donald Trump’s sharp criticism of NATO allies, accusing them of not doing enough to support the US and Israel. Most G7 members—Britain, Canada, France, Germany and Italy—are part of NATO, while Japan is the sole exception, further underscoring tensions within the alliance.

Israel attacks Tehran, Beirut amid multi-front war

Israel said it launched “wide-scale” attacks targeting infrastructure in Tehran, marking a direct escalation against the Iranian capital. At the same time, Israeli strikes hit the southern suburbs of Beirut, considered a Hezbollah stronghold, with explosions heard throughout the area and smoke seen rising from the attacks. This reflects Israel’s continuing campaign against Iran-backed groups beyond its borders. The development comes as Israel is active on multiple fronts, including Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank, and is increasing its military resources, escalating the overall conflict.

Saudi stops drone as regional tensions increase

Saudi Arabia said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed four drones in its eastern region early Friday, highlighting how the conflict is spreading beyond its region of origin. The incident highlights the growing risks for the Gulf states, many of which host critical oil infrastructure and US military assets. Increasing aerial threats have raised concerns about the vulnerability of energy supplies in the region. The interception also reflects heightened military readiness among Gulf states as they prepare to move forward while trying to protect key installations from attacks linked to the broader Iran conflict.

The scope of the war increases with global and military consequences.

The conflict has escalated into a broader regional crisis, with fighting in Lebanon resulting in Israeli military casualties and heightened tensions over troop deployments. Military officials have warned of manpower challenges as operations continue on multiple fronts.Israel’s opposition leader Yair Lapid criticized the government, accusing it of dragging the country into a multi-front war without a clear strategy or adequate resources, reflecting growing domestic pressure.Beyond the battlefield, the World Bank has warned of the economic fallout while offering assistance to affected countries. Meanwhile, G7 countries are pushing for a diplomatic solution to stabilize global energy markets and the reopening of key routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.

Police later arrived to restore order as tension increased between the members. BJP MLAs responded with protest, following which a scuffle broke out between Congress MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone and BJP MLA Yudveer Sethi. To calm the situation, the assembly proceedings were adjourned for some time. The protests were led by NC leaders who expressed solidarity with Iran. Party MLA Tanveer Sadiq said, “We stand in solidarity with Iran. The entire National Conference and the Jammu and Kashmir government stand with them. No country has the right to attack another country and the top leadership of India should condemn it.” Sadiq stressed that the party supports the people of Iran in light of Khamenei’s assassination.Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the ongoing conflict in West Asia, saying regime change cannot be achieved through military bombing. Regime change cannot happen through aerial bombing.” He described Khamenei’s killing as a “gross abuse of force and a violation of international law.”Tensions in the region increased following joint US-Israeli military strikes on Iran on 28 February, which killed Khamenei and several senior leaders of the Islamic Republic. In retaliation, Iran attacked American bases in the Gulf countries and Israel.
