UAE weather conditions: UAE weather warning: Heavy rain, thunderstorms and traffic chaos in Dubai and Abu Dhabi – security warning issued | world News

UAE weather warning: Heavy rain, thunder and traffic chaos in Dubai and Abu Dhabi - safety warning issued
Heavy rain, winds and traffic chaos have disrupted areas including Dubai, Fujairah and Abu Dhabi / Image: File

Heavy rainfall and unstable weather conditions have occurred in parts of the UAE, causing sudden downpours, strong winds and reduced visibility, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, disrupting daily life and slowing traffic on major roads.Authorities issued advisories urging motorists to drive with caution as wet roads and fluctuating visibility are causing traffic disruptions. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has confirmed that the country is currently experiencing a period of unstable weather, with cloud formation and intermittent rainfall affecting many areas.Rainfall in cities has ranged from light to moderate, with heavy downpours reported in some northern and eastern areas, prompting warnings that conditions could change rapidly.

Rain across UAE

The weather system has affected many parts of the country, with rainfall reported in the coastal, western and northern regions.Dubai and Abu Dhabi received sporadic rain, while eastern and northern emirates such as Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah are seeing more persistent cloud activity and a higher chance of rain. These areas usually experience strong weather activity due to the mountainous terrain which enhances cloud formation.Meteorologists say the current conditions are being driven by a combination of low-pressure systems and upper-atmosphere changes, creating ideal conditions for rain and cloud development across the UAE.

Strong winds, dust and rough seas

Along with the rainfall, the winds are also changing, which sometimes reach speeds of 40-50 km/h. Due to these winds, dust is flying in some areas and visibility on the highways has reduced.Sea conditions have also been affected, with warnings of rough waters in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough conditions in the Sea of Oman. At the same time, due to increase in cloud cover and rain activities, the temperature has dropped slightly.Experts say March is typically a transition period for UAE weather, where sudden changes, including rain, wind and drops in temperature, are more common.

united arab emirates weather forecast for the next 6 days

Looking ahead, unsettled weather is expected to continue in the coming days, with rainfall forecast across various parts of the UAE throughout the week.According to weather updates:

  • It will be partly cloudy with isolated rain conditions
  • Occasional heavy rainfall likely over northern and eastern regions
  • Light, intermittent rainfall may occur in coastal and western areas
  • Winds will blow from south-eastern to north-western, which will be moderate to fresh and will cause dust at times
  • A significant drop in temperatures is expected in some areas, especially during the rainy season.

Overall rainfall is expected to be mostly light to moderate, but heavy rainfall may occur over specific areas depending on the intensity of the clouds. The pattern reflects ongoing atmospheric instability, meaning conditions can vary from day to day, including sudden showers, cloud cover and brief clear spells.

Safety advice for UAE residents

With unsettled weather expected to continue, officials are urging residents to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines. In case of emergency, residents can contact:

  • Dubai Police: 999
  • Dubai Ambulance: 998
  • Dubai Civil Defence: 997
  • Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA): 991
  • Roads and Transport Authority (RTA): 800 9090
  • Dubai Municipality: 800 900
  • Dubai Health: 80060

Motorists are advised to maintain safe distance, follow electronic road signs and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains.

What does this mean?

Although the current spell of rain and wind may seem disruptive, it is part of the seasonal weather pattern that typically affects the UAE at this time of year. However, the intensity and spread of this week’s system has made it particularly noticeable, affecting both daily commutes and outdoor plans. With more rain expected in the coming days, residents can expect cooler temperatures, cloudy skies and occasional showers, a rare but familiar break from the area’s usual dry conditions.

AI can never do the main job of writing judgments: Supreme Court judge india news

AI can never do the main job of writing judgments: Supreme Court judge

New Delhi: Justice Vikram Nath, the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, on Sunday said artificial intelligence can be a facilitator for the justice delivery system, but it can never replace the core function – writing judgments – which will always remain with the judges.Speaking on ‘Challenges, Innovation and Role of AI in Judicial Administration’ at the first national conference of the Supreme Court Bar Association in Bengaluru, Justice Nath said, “AI can be used as a tool to enhance the judicial system, but it cannot replace the judgment or the mind of judges in deciding what is to be decided.” Justice Nath said, “There cannot be any fixed data set in the millions of cases dealt with by the courts. For example, matrimonial cases, disposal of commercial cases, equity balancing – the court can understand the nuances of each case by reading the papers and listening to the lawyer, which is factually different from the other. Only judges know how to strike a balance in family partition suits.”He said, “AI cannot decide cases involving constitutional issues. There are innumerable complexities in criminal cases – how to appreciate the evidence, when to grant bail; there can be 10 accused in a single FIR, the court can grant bail to nine but reject one. AI cannot deal with all of these. AI is there to help us in many aspects – collecting data, classifying cases, translation etc. But the decision will remain only with the judges.Justice Nath also appreciated the initiative taken by SCBA President Vikas Singh in the conference.Supreme Court judge AG Masih said, “AI is not here to replace lawyers and judges. Data-driven intelligence cannot replace human conscience. The function of courts depends on public trust to deliver justice by carefully balancing rights and liabilities and assessing the factual circumstances with a human heart.” Emotions cannot be replicated by AI, which can facilitate judicial activities but not replace them. The judge said there appears to be a need to institutionalize guidelines for court technology and, perhaps, create a judicial-tech oversight board to maintain and check AI tools for bias and review an automated draft. Senior advocate Sajan Poovayya said that hallucination is inherent in mankind and mankind has created AI. Therefore, AI also contained hallucinations and this was what made it dangerous for the judiciary as it presented case law and logic that was non-existent or imaginary, he said.Delhi HC Chief Justice DK Upadhyay raised the issue of the use of AI-assisted judgment drafting software in countries like Brazil, Argentina, Singapore, UK, UAE and China. “Collectively, AI is becoming increasingly integrated into multiple domains of judicial administration, from administrative efficiency to substantive support functions, while also raising important questions about accountability, fairness, and the limits of automation in the judicial system,” he said.Justice Upadhyay said, “AI-manipulated images, deepfakes undermine the integrity of maliciously deployed evidence and adversely impact the administration of justice. Courts may have to re-examine the traditional reliance on photographs and videos… The burden on parties to establish authenticity will increase and the judiciary will have to rely more on forensic tests of such evidence.”

LPG crisis: Switch to 7 kg or 10 kg soon? Dealers cautious, consumers worried

Kolkata: Growing uncertainties over global energy supplies amid tensions in West Asia have prompted the Center to explore new measures to manage domestic LPG availability, such as providing less quantity of fuel in refilled cylinders and further increasing the waiting period for refill orders. At present, each domestic cylinder contains 14.2 kg of LPG. Sources said the Center has asked oil marketing companies (OMCs) to explore the feasibility of providing 10 kg or even 7 kg in each cylinder.Officials said the move was being considered in view of concerns over the movement of fuel tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. “Some options are being discussed to ensure equitable distribution, prevent shortages and reduce theft. Reducing LPG in domestic cylinders is one of them,” said an OMC source. However, consumers are unhappy. “In our house, a cylinder lasts for 15 days. A 10 kg or 7 kg cylinder will finish in 7 to 9 days. You cannot book the cylinder before 25 days (from the date of delivery of the previous cylinder). How will the food be cooked?” Gaurav Saxena asked from Taratala.LPG dealers are also worried about this proposal.Changes in supply quantities may complicate things: DealersWe are already struggling with surging demand, booking failures and e-KYC issues. Any change in supply quantity will create more complications. “We may also have to face charges of LPG theft,” said an LPG dealer in south Kolkata. The proposed shift to 7 kg or 10 kg cylinders, while aimed at increasing supply available to more households, could bring logistical challenges. A distributor said, “Handling more cylinders of smaller size will increase operating pressure. But if it ensures greater reach, it may be necessary.”Amid consumer complaints about confusion over booking confirmation and delays in receiving cylinders, there are reports that the current waiting period for booking may increase further. “There is a strong possibility that the waiting period may be extended by 25 to 30 days from the date of delivery,” said an OMC source.“Even after the booking is confirmed, there is no clarity on when the cylinder will arrive,” said Anindita Sen, a housewife from Chetla. “There is a lack of transparency in the system,” said Rajesh Gupta of New Alipore.Distributors said they are caught between supply shortage and customer dissatisfaction. “We are trying our best to manage deliveries, but supplies are tight and rules have to be followed,” said a Kolkata-based LPG distributor.

Iran’s supreme leader in the shadows: CIA is looking for signs of Mojtaba Khamenei

Iran's supreme leader in the shadows: CIA is looking for signs of Mojtaba Khamenei

The mystery surrounding Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is deepening. This also includes global intelligence agencies cia And the Mossad is closely monitoring his whereabouts and role in the ongoing conflict in Tehran.Since assuming power on March 9 following the assassination of his father Ali Khamenei, Mojtaba has largely remained out of the public eye. Apart from a written statement from Nowruz and a recently released video showing him teaching religious studies, he has avoided any personal or pre-recorded appearances. In his Nowruz message on Telegram, Mojtaba called for national unity and claimed that Iran had defeated the enemy, saying: “At this moment, because of the special unity formed among you, our compatriots – despite all differences in religious, intellectual, cultural and political origins – the enemy has been defeated. The US and Israeli attacks were based on the illusion that by assassinating top leaders they could overthrow the government. He further described the attacks in Turkey and Oman as part of the “plan of the Zionist enemy” and emphasized Iran’s regional ties: “We share with neighboring countries the confrontation against the forces of sectarianism, interests and global egoism.”According to a report by Axios, the CIA is reportedly working to determine whether Mojtaba is alive, injured or fully exercising authority, especially after reports that he was injured in the attack that killed his father. Evidence such as failed attempts by Iranian officials to schedule personal meetings with him suggest that Mojtaba is alive but under tight security.A senior US official said, “We have no evidence that he is actually giving orders. It’s very strange. We don’t think the Iranians would have elected a dead person as supreme leader, but at the same time, we have no evidence that he is taking power.”Recent targeted attacks on Iran’s senior leadership, including the assassination of security chief Ali Larijani, have raised concerns in US intelligence circles. US and Israeli officials highlighted that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is now effectively managing the country, mitigating power cuts.CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Defense Intelligence Agency Director General James Adams testified before the House Intelligence Committee that Iran is facing a deep command and control crisis. Israeli officials have also warned that Iran’s top leaders are acting like fugitives, moving between safe houses and avoiding digital communications.Raz Zimmat, director of the Iran program at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv, said Mojtaba could still work, but injuries or security concerns might prevent him from appearing in public or releasing recorded messages.Zimmt said, “Under the current extraordinary circumstances, one should not expect him to appear in public, and it is possible that his injury does not even allow him to release the recorded video so as not to expose the seriousness of his condition to the public.”During Nowruz celebrations on Friday, American and Israeli intelligence closely monitored signs of public attendance. Instead, Mojtaba released a written message via Telegram along with a video showing him teaching religious studies to students. The CIA is reportedly analyzing these materials to determine whether they are recent and to gain information about their current status.A senior US official described Mojtaba’s absence as a “significant threat”. “We expected to see Mojtaba in some capacity as well. He did not take advantage of the opportunity and tradition,” the official said.Mojtaba’s continued silence leaves open the question of who is really in command in Tehran. President Donald Trump’s national security team has repeatedly raised concerns over leadership authority in the Iranian capital.Trump said, “All their leaders are gone. The next group of leaders is also gone. And the next group of leaders is also mostly gone. And now, nobody wants to be the leader there. We’re having a tough time. We want to talk to them but there’s no one to talk to. You know, we like it that way.” Israel has also indicated that regime change may be an objective of its ongoing operations.

Martyrs' Day: How India honors soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country

In the collective consciousness of India, a soldier killed in the line of duty is not seen simply as a war casualty, but as a shaheed, a ‘martyr’ whose sacrifice becomes part of the nation’s identity. On Martyrs’ Day observed on March 23, India remembers the sacrifice of Bhagat SinghSukhdev and Rajguru, who were killed by the British in 1931. Their legacy continues today in the sacrifices of soldiers serving the country, and Martyrs’ Day is an opportunity to understand how India honors their acts of bravery.Over time, India has created a system to honor its fallen soldiers, including official ceremonies, support for families, and public commemoration. From the Amar Chakra at the National War Memorial to pension and education schemes reaching families in remote areas, India tries to ensure that no soldier who died for the country is forgotten. The most serious event is the arrival of a martyr’s body in his hometown. The coffin is often draped in the national flag and given a guard of honor accompanied by local politicians, police and civil society leaders. In many cases, the local community organizes a procession and a brief ceremony, showing that the martyr belongs not only to the regiment, but also to the village, the city, and the nation.

gallantry award

India’s gallantry awards are among the highest honors bestowed on members of the armed forces and, in some cases, civilians. The families of recipients are invited to formal ceremonies, often at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the medal is presented, and the story of the soldier’s valor is told. The highest wartime award is the Param Vir Chakra, awarded for “most conspicuous gallantry” in the presence of the enemy. This is followed by the Mahavir Chakra and Vir Chakra, which recognize acts of gallantry during military operations. In peacetime, the country awards the Ashoka Chakra, Kirti Chakra and Shaurya Chakra for acts of bravery including counter-insurgency operations and rescue operations.

.

.

These awards are announced on Republic Day and Independence Day, ensuring national recognition for acts of courage.

National War Memorial

The National War Memorial in New Delhi stands as a central place in memory of the soldiers who died in service after independence. This monument stands with an eternal flame called Amar Chakra (Whirl of Immortality) at its centre. Before the National War Memorial, the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate served as the main site to pay homage to soldiers, especially those killed in the 1971 war.Around Amar Chakra, concentric “Walls of Honour” are inscribed with the names of over 26,000 soldiers, each slab symbolizing the ancient battle formation of ‘Chakravyuh’, and each soldier’s name is inscribed in granite to signify permanence and dignity.Every evening, a retreat ceremony is held at the National War Memorial, where the national flag and the flags of the Army, Navy and Air Force are lowered before sunset as the last post is sounded. On Sundays and special occasions, the change-of-guard ceremony, accompanied by military band performances, attracts schoolchildren, tourists and veterans.Flower laying ceremonies by the Prime Minister and senior officials are held here on important national occasions. This memorial reflects India’s effort to create a permanent place of honor for its fallen soldiers.

assistance to families

Apart from memorials, India also honors its soldiers through a strong welfare and support system for their families. It is both a moral responsibility and social security for families who have lost a member in service. The families of martyrs receive central ex-gratia payments as well as pension schemes that provide long-term financial support.Pension for war-bereaved families is usually set at 100% of the soldier’s last drawn basic pay along with other components, helping widows and children maintain financial stability.Additional assistance includes education allowances covering tuition and hostel fees for children, cashless medical care under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) and benefits related to housing and small business assistance. Some state and central schemes also provide interest subsidy on home loans as well as financial assistance for marriage of daughters or remarriage of widows to help families rebuild their lives.Employment assistance is another important measure, in which the government reserves some jobs for the next of kin of martyred soldiers.

Martyr’s Day: Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru remembered

Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev

Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev

On March 23, 1931, three young revolutionaries, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivram Rajguru, were hanged, becoming enduring symbols of courage and defiance against British colonial rule. He was sentenced to death in the Lahore Conspiracy Case. The spark for their action came after the brutal death of Lala Lajpat Rai. While leading a protest against the Simon Commission, Rai was beaten by Superintendent of Police JS Scott and later died of his injuries on 17 November 1928. Enraged, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and Chandra Shekhar Azad conspired to avenge his death. In a case of mistaken identity, they shot another officer, Saunders, instead. Initially, the British were unaware of the criminals. It was a handwritten poster by Bhagat Singh explaining the motive behind the murder that linked him and his comrades to Saunders’ death. Later, Bhagat Singh’s dramatic protest in the Central Legislative Assembly on 8 April 1929, where he threw a bomb against two repressive bills, brought him to the attention of the authorities. Even when facing execution, all three showed no fear. They walked proudly to the gallows in Lahore Central Jail, shouting slogans of “Inquilab Zindabad”. Bhagat Singh famously sang Mera Rang De Basanti Chola – “O Mother! Color my robe in the colors of spring”, turning his death into a celebration of freedom rather than despair. Despite appeals for clemency and widespread public support, all three were hanged, leaving a lasting legacy. Today Martyr’s Day is a tribute to their bravery, self-sacrifice and patriotism. His courage will continue to inspire generations of Indians. Therefore, Martyrs’ Day reminds us of the value of freedom and the responsibility of every citizen. It honors those who fought for the country and inspires people to uphold the values of courage, commitment and selflessness.

Who is Rupali Langthasa? New face of Assam BJP from Haflong in place of Nandita Gorlosa
Before the Assam Assembly elections, BJP has fielded Rupali Langthasa from Haflong in place of Nandita Gorlosa who joined Congress.

Guwahati: In a significant political shift ahead of the Assam assembly elections, the BJP has fielded Rupali Langthasa from the Haflong seat, replacing sitting MLA and former minister Nandita Gorlosa, who has since joined the Congress.Rupali Langthasa is relatively new to mainstream electoral politics, but has been making a steady presence in local administration. He is currently serving as the Executive Member in-charge of Higher Education in North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), a major administrative body in Dima Hasao district of Assam.Grassroots entry through council electionsLangthasa started his political journey through the council elections, where he won from Diungabra constituency on a BJP ticket. His rise within the party structure has been marked by growing influence at the grassroots level, especially in the hill districts.Political observers said Gorlosa’s exclusion reflected deep-rooted internal rifts, particularly his alleged differences with North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) chief executive member Debolal Gorlosa. Sources said the rivalry had been going on for years and had created glaring faults within the district unit.BJP’s strategic moveThe BJP’s decision to replace the sitting minister with a candidate contesting assembly elections for the first time is being seen as a calculated move by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Analysts say the party is trying to balance internal factions and manage dissent by bringing in new faces instead of giving preference to established leaders.Political consequences and changesAfter being denied the ticket, Nandita Gorlosa left the BJP and joined the Congress, marking a dramatic turn in the Haflong contest. Meanwhile, the BJP leadership has backed Langthasa as a new face capable of consolidating support in the region.
