New Delhi: A day after the arrest of I-PAC promoter-director Vinesh Chandel in Delhi, the ED on Wednesday attached assets worth Rs 160 crore, including corporate bonds and alternative investment funds. Shyam Ferro Alloys, controlled by Sanjay Agarwal of the Shyam Group, in a move linked to the investigation into the West Bengal coal mining scam.With this, the total amount attached in the case has exceeded Rs 482 crore.“The crime involves multiple layers of complex financial transactions designed to hide the origin and ownership of illicit funds,” the ED said, adding that it continues to unravel these layers to identify ultimate beneficiaries, trace additional proceeds of crime and zero in on all persons involved in money laundering.The focus of the ED investigation in the coal scam has currently shifted to I-PAC, which in its remand note for Chandel had alleged that he had received significant proceeds of crime from illegal coal mining in the leasehold areas of Eastern Coalfields Limited in West Bengal. However, the agency has not named the political party involved.The Enforcement Directorate said that during searches at the I-PAC premises on April 2, it seized incriminating documents related to fraudulent transactions and election expenses. “The said documents were also found in the office of a political party and were corroborated by the statements recorded by the investigating officer,” it said, pointing to an alleged nexus in using unaccounted money for election expenses.Chandel, founder director of I-PAC since 2015, is an equal shareholder of Prateek Jain and Rishi Raj and a key decision maker in operational and financial matters.“Substantial amounts of money were deposited into I-PAC accounts from various entities without any real business purpose, establishing that the company acted as a conduit,” the agency said.The enforcement agency said the unaccounted cash was sent through hawala channels, recording statements of individuals associated with I-PAC. During questioning, Chandel allegedly made “false and misleading statements”, denied cash transactions and misrepresented the company’s activities.

लंबित प्रकरणों के शीघ्र निस्तारण के निर्देश
एएसपी ने लंबित विवेचनाओं को जल्द से जल्द निपटाने के निर्देश दिए। उन्होंने कहा कि मामलों को बेवजह लंबित रखना उचित नहीं है. साथ ही वांछित अभियुक्तों की शीघ्र गिरफ्तारी सुनिश्चित करने और अपराध नियंत्रण को प्राथमिकता देने को कहा गया.

न्याजूपुरा-चरथावल मार्ग पर चेकिंग के दौरान हुई गिरफ्तारी

कोतवाली नगर पुलिस टीम नियमित चेकिंग अभियान चला रही थी। इसी दौरान न्याजूपुरा-चरथावल रोड पर न्यू गुडलक बरात घर के पास मंदिर के पास एक संदिग्ध व्यक्ति को रोककर उसकी तलाशी ली गई।

तलाशी के दौरान उसके पास से 513 ग्राम गांजा बरामद हुआ, जिसके बाद उसे मौके पर ही गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया.

गिरफ्तार आरोपी की पहचान मिमलाना रोड निवासी शुएब के रूप में हुई है।

पुलिस ने गिरफ्तार आरोपी की पहचान शुएब पुत्र नफीस निवासी पाज कॉलोनी मिमलाना रोड के रूप में की है। पुलिस के मुताबिक आरोपी पहले भी आपराधिक गतिविधियों में शामिल रहा है और शातिर प्रवृत्ति का अपराधी बताया जा रहा है.

आरोपी से पूछताछ कर यह जानकारी जुटाई जा रही है कि वह नशीला पदार्थ कहां से लाता था और किसे सप्लाई करता था।

पुलिस अधिकारियों का कहना है कि जिले में नशे के खिलाफ अभियान जारी रहेगा और ऐसी गतिविधियों में शामिल लोगों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई की जाएगी.

पुलिस अधिकारियों ने स्पष्ट किया है कि जिले में अवैध मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी रोकने के लिए अभियान जारी रहेगा। इसके अलावा युवाओं को नशे से दूर रखने के लिए जागरूकता कार्यक्रम भी चलाए जा रहे हैं।

– 28 जनवरी 2025 को कालाढूंगी रोड पर स्टेडियम तिराहा के पास स्कूटर सवार राजस्व कर्मचारी को गोली लगी। हादसे में राजस्व कर्मचारी की मौत हो गयी थी.
