70% H-1B approvals from India in FY 2025 revealed in new report, US senator surprised
A new USCIS report shows that 70% of H-1B approvals in FY 2025 were from Indian applicants.
Senator Eric Schmidt expressed surprise at the latest official report on H-1B for FY 2025, where India tops the list of countries with 283,772 approvals, followed by China with 49,161 approvals. The senator wrote, sharing excerpts from the report, “While Washington pats itself on the back, American workers are told to “up-skill” or be replaced by H-1B hires. The entire system is designed to let companies take advantage of the law while American graduates and workers pay the price.” Blaming Big Tech, Schmidt said they are encouraging this despicable practice by laying off American workers.“An ex-visa officer in India shares dirty secret: 70-90% of Indian applicants cheat the system with fake credentials. Then, Indian workers hire themselves, eliminating American jobs. “Once they’re in, they stay, they bring in more, while the American talent is left out,” Schmutt said, citing earlier interviews with US Foreign Service officer Mahwash Siddiqui to make the case.
On Chinese H-1Bs, Schmidt said the Chinese are flooding sensitive science and technology roles and through them the CCP is stealing US IP and spying on American companies. “Why should the American people lose their jobs for funding CCP crimes?”Immigration entrepreneur James Blunt spoke about the numbers and the panic, saying it was “very low for a trillion dollar economy”. “So we went from a ‘flood of millions’ to ~400,000 approvals… with ~70% of people here already renewing. That’s very low for a trillion-dollar economy. If the argument requires inflated numbers to work, it’s probably not a strong argument to begin with.
