Gurgaon: The MCM has directed officials to prepare a framework for rainwater harvesting and step up water conservation efforts, with a focus on rejuvenating natural water bodies and preventing water crisis.Commissioner Mo in the review meeting Pradeep Singh Asked engineering officials to conduct surveys and identify ways to collect and store rainwater in the entire municipal corporation area. He said the plan should include creating clusters of villages where ponds can be developed for rainwater harvesting with the option of adding water treatment facilities in the future.“There is a need for rain water harvesting to improve the groundwater level and avoid water crisis in future. I have directed officials to develop a system for collecting and storing rain water to increase the water level,” Singh said, adding that ponds in clusters of villages should be developed in such a way that water treatment plants can be installed to supply water if required.“This will help improve the water level in Manesar in the coming years and reduce the risk of water scarcity. The village ponds should be deepened, as water recharge depends on them,” he said.While reviewing the development works in the corporation area, the Commissioner said that the civil work should be completed before the rainy season. He directed that all drains should be cleaned to prevent waterlogging during monsoon.Officials said that an estimate has been prepared for installing CCTV cameras in all the villages of the corporation area. “To improve surveillance, there is a plan to form clusters of four to five villages and have CCTV control near the concerned police station,” he said.The commissioner said the tender process for the works should be put before the MCM House and Finance and Contracts Committee. “Once approved, tenders should be issued and agencies should be awarded the work without any delay,” he said.Meanwhile, engineering officials said tenders have already been issued for several construction works in both the divisions.
