New Delhi: More than a year after Madhya Pradesh minister Kunwar Vijay Shah linked Colonel Sofia Qureshi in an ‘obnoxious’ manner, a controversy has erupted.Operation Sindoor”The Supreme Court on Friday appeared to be in no mood to condone their misdeeds and asked the state government to take a decision on the SIT’s request for sanction for their prosecution.Solicitor General Tushar Mehta filed a status report before the Supreme Court and said that it appears that Shah’s intention was to praise Colonel Qureshi, but he made a mistake in making a statement which unfortunately turned out to have a different meaning.A bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said, “The statement was extremely unfortunate and appeared to have no sense of remorse.” Shah’s lawyer Maninder Singh said the minister had immediately apologized within 24 hours after realizing that the statement was being viewed in a different light.The bench said this was not the only instance of the minister making objectionable statements and asked the SIT to find out other instances of such comments by him, as indicated by the SIT in its previous report.When SG Tushar Mehta said that the political personality could not properly express his words of praise for the woman officer, the bench said, “Political personalities are otherwise very clear and convey what they want.
