Rajnath Singh praised the rescue teams after safely evacuating 300 tourists stranded in Gulmarg.

New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said 300 tourists trapped in a cable car in Gulmarg have been rescued in a swift operation. Gulmarg Gondola service in North Kashmir tourist spot Gulmarg was stopped on Monday due to a technical glitch following the rescue operation.Sharing a post on Twitter, he said, “A joint rescue team of Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, NDRF, SDRF and civil administration carried out the challenging operation with efficiency and determination.”The incident occurred on Monday, when the Gulmarg Gondola service came to a halt in the tourist resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir due to a technical glitch.Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tariq Hussain Naik had earlier informed that the technical disruption occurred around 1 pm. The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has since launched rescue operations in response to the crisis.The first phase runs from Gulmarg to Kongduri to a height of approximately 2,600 metres, while the second phase runs from Kongduri to Afarwat Peak, reaching a height of approximately 3,979 metres. As Tariq said, both were suspended after the incident.
