Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) faction, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar’s “advisor” warns international cricketers to withdraw from the PSL, claiming that the safety of international players cannot be guaranteed given the current volatile and uncertain security scenario.The group insisted that they would not “allow the dignity of the people to be compromised for political expediency” or “allow the blood of the oppressed to be spilled under the stadium lights”.“In an environment where military operations and civil unrest dominate significant parts of the region, the safety of international athletes cannot be guaranteed. Given these serious circumstances, we strongly advise you to prioritize your personal safety and withdraw. The organized spectacle of the PSL is a cruel mockery of our suffering.”The threat comes at a sensitive time as Pakistan is embroiled in a surge in insurgent activities, which has led the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to restrict the tournament to just two venues, Karachi and Lahore, and also exclude spectators.Despite the ultimatum, the PCB has claimed that the tournament will go ahead as scheduled.
