ICC T20I Rankings: Smriti Mandhana retains second position, Harmanpreet Kaur reaches 14th position
India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana continued her stellar form in the shortest format to retain the No. 2 spot in the latest ICC women’s T20I batting rankings released on Tuesday, while skipper Harmanpreet Kaur made a notable gain to 14th.
Mandhana remains India’s highest-ranked batsman in T20Is, with Shafali Verma firmly in the top 10 at sixth. Jemimah Rodrigues also remained in contention outside the elite list, maintaining her joint 11th place.
Among bowlers, Deepti Sharma continued her rise and climbed one place in the rankings to reach third place. The off-spin all-rounder also ranked No. 3 in the all-rounders category. India’s fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur retained her sixth position, while Arundhati Reddy slipped out of the top 10 to 11th.
Several global developments were also seen in the latest update. Australia’s opening batsman Georgia Woll entered the top 10 of the batting rankings for the first time. New Zealand star Sophie Devine has moved up to 18th position after two consecutive half-centuries against South Africa.
Rwanda’s teenage sensation Fanny Utagushimaninde achieved a historic milestone as she entered the rankings at 66th position after becoming the first woman to score a century on T20I debut and the youngest player in men’s and women’s cricket to achieve the feat.
ICC Emerging Player of the Year 2024 South Africa’s rising star Anne Dirksen has jumped 18 places to 55th position after his unbeaten 55-run innings in New Zealand. Australia’s experienced Ellyse Perry (up to 20th) and West Indies’ Kianna Joseph (up to 33rd) were among the other notable gainers, along with Maddy Green and Stafanie Taylor.
In the bowling rankings, South Africa’s left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba entered the top 10, rising to ninth position after an impressive series. Australia’s Georgia Wareham has also progressed to 12th place.
New Zealand fast bowler Jess Kerr moved up to a career-best 15th position after a strong performance against South Africa, while Ayabonga Khaka and Kim Garth also recorded significant gains in the latest update.
