Although he did not play during that tournament, he established himself as the country’s first-choice goalkeeper in the years that followed and appeared at the 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2026 editions. His performances on the biggest stage, particularly against Brazil in 2014, garnered worldwide recognition and cemented his place among the finest goalkeepers of his generation.
