New Delhi: Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhary took over as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command on Monday. He was commissioned in the fighter stream Indian Air Force In December 1989.During his distinguished career, the Air Marshal held several important operational, staff and diplomatic appointments, including Defense Attache to the Embassy of India in Sweden with concurrent accreditation to Norway, Finland and Denmark. He has also held key staff assignments at Headquarters IDS and Air Headquarters with expertise in the areas of projects, acquisitions and human resource management.The Air Marshal has led several transformational projects aimed at enhancing capability and incorporating future technologies into the Indian Air Force. Before assuming charge of the Central Air Command, the Air Marshal was serving as the Senior Air Staff Officer at Headquarters Southern Air Command.Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhary succeeds Air Marshal Balakrishnan Manikantan, who retired on May 31 after 40 years of distinguished and dedicated service to the nation.Choudhary is an alumnus of the National Defense Academy, Defense Services Staff College, College of Air Warfare and National Defense College.
