New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah On Friday a group of foreigners – including a US citizen and six Ukrainian citizens – saidNIANS – The people recently arrested by the NIA from Kolkata, Lucknow and Delhi did not pose any threat to India, but they were trying to use the country as a transit point to Myanmar for terror training.“They were caught when they were planning to transit Mizoram In Myanmar, where rebel bases will be used to train Ukrainians. They did not take the advance permit required by foreigners to enter Mizoram,” Shah said.This is the first time that a government official has clarified on record that the group’s interest lies in Myanmar and India was only a transit point.He said, “There is no threat to India’s security. It is our policy that any foreigner who comes to India for any wrongdoing will not be spared.”Asked about the March 31, 2026 deadline to defeat Naxalism, the Home Minister said it is not about victory or defeat, but about stopping attacks and blasts, which, in the words of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, makes it the biggest internal security threat.He said that under the leadership of PM Modi, Naxalism has been curbed to a great extent, with development now reaching tribal areas across the Tirupati-Pashupatinath corridor.
