Assam Rifles, CSOs hold meeting to maintain peace

Silchar: Amid ethnic tension and sporadic incidents of violence in Manipur, Assam Rifles on Wednesday held a high-level meeting with civil society organizations (CSOs) at Kaimai in Tamenglong district to strengthen peace and communal harmony in the region..The talks brought together 25 prominent representatives including village presidents, secretaries, youth leaders and members of both Naga and Kuki communities. An Assam Rifles spokesperson on Thursday said officials from the civil administration and the state police department also participated in the deliberations.The security forces also highlighted the importance of keeping NH-37 open to ensure unhindered movement of civilians and security personnel.
