A popular salad topper sold at major grocery retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons has been recalled after concerns about salmonella contamination. Shoppers in the UK have been urged ‘not to eat’ any of the recalled products.The Food Standards Agency has issued a recall warning of the product and also listed symptoms of the bug to look out for. The affected items are manufactured by Good4U and have been flagged as potentially unsafe for consumption. Here’s everything you need to know about the recall.

Food Standards Agency has urged consumers Do not eat the recalled products. Consuming food contaminated with Salmonella can cause symptoms such as fever, diarrhea and stomach cramps. “If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should stay away from work, school or nursery for at least 48 hours until your symptoms have stopped, to avoid passing it on to others,” the agency warned.In InformationThe company has asked those who purchased the recalled item to return it to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. “If consumers have purchased a product past this use-by date, they should return the product to their store for a full refund. Beneath the surface of the North Sea, a long-hidden prehistoric forest has been discovered, revealing many new possibilities for the environment and climate of ancient Europe. By using sediment collected from ancient sites to collect and analyze ancient DNA (sedaDNA), researchers have shown that a sunken landscape now known as Doggerland contained lush, living forests of oak, elm and hazel thousands of years earlier than scientists thought. This research shows that Doggerland was an important habitat for plants, animals, and even early humans during the last ice age, and that parts of this lost environment remained above water for longer than researchers expected, thus providing more information about how the ecology of this region evolved in the past, before it all eventually sank beneath high sea levels.
In a new study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), researchers have developed an alternative chronology of the forests of Northern Europe. Researchers analyzed 252 sediment samples collected from 41 marine cores and found DNA from temperate tree species that existed at least 16,000 years ago. In a particularly surprising discovery, the researchers also recovered DNA from Pterocarya (nut family) species that were believed to have gone extinct in the region 400,000 years ago – indicating that isolated ‘microrefugia’ allowed some species to survive longer than previously determined.
The Doggerland, once thought to be only an ephemeral landmass, is now likely to represent a permanent center of development in what was also a very fertile area. According to PNAS research findings, the existence of Tilia (lemon) trees 2,000 years earlier than the date these trees were first recorded in mainland Britain indicates that locally mild climatic conditions supported more complex ecosystems than previously thought.Researchers believe that these wooded areas could have provided both food and shelter to early Mesolithic human populations, and may explain the lack of early human archaeological material in Britain today due to constant submergence beneath the North Sea.
The existence of resilient ecosystems in Europe calls into question the accepted approach to forest regeneration across Europe after the last glacial event. New data from the University of Warwick shows that Doggerland survived significant environmental disturbances (such as the Storga tsunami (8,150 years ago)) and that some parts were still as habitable as 7,000 years ago. The application of the sedaDNA method to the exploration of marine sediment cores provides unprecedented detail about the past compared to traditional pollen studies and provides a reference for future excavation efforts to identify specific sites of human habitation on these submerged landscapes.
New Delhi: The first phase of voting got off to a turbulent start in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district with clashes, allegations of voter intimidation and technical glitches.West Bengal Phase 1 Voting – Follow Live Updates Tension erupted overnight when crude bombs were reportedly hurled near Shivnagar Primary School, injuring at least one person and spreading panic. A scuffle broke out between the two Trinamool Congress (TMC) activist and Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AUJP) founder Humayun Kabir visited the affected area. However, Kabir rejected the allegations, saying, “Peaceful elections are being held on all the 22 seats of Nauda, Rezinagar and Murshidabad. But here some incident happened overnight at booth number 9 and 10 of Nauda. They snatched the bags of the local police.In Domkal, many voters alleged that they were threatened and prevented from reaching polling stations. Residents of Raipur village claimed that armed men were present since morning, creating an atmosphere of fear. The allegations were leveled at the ruling TMC, which did not immediately react. Election Commission A report was sought, and later heavy security was deployed to escort voters to the booths when polling resumed.Voting was delayed or stopped due to EVM malfunction at several booths in Murshidabad, including Beldanga, Samsherganj and Kandi. मोबाइल फोन चोरी और झपटमारी से जुड़े थे
पुलिस के मुताबिक बरामद मोबाइल फोन खोने, छिनैती और चोरी की घटनाओं से जुड़े हैं. इन मामलों की जांच के लिए पुलिस ने विशेष अभियान चलाया और तकनीकी निगरानी की मदद ली. अलग-अलग टीमों ने अलग-अलग जगहों पर छापेमारी कर इन मोबाइलों को बरामद करने में सफलता हासिल की.

इस अभियान में CEIR पोर्टल ने अहम भूमिका निभाई. इस पोर्टल के जरिए पुलिस को खोए और चोरी हुए मोबाइल फोन की जानकारी मिली, जिसके आधार पर आगे की कार्रवाई की गई. पुलिस टीम ने मोबाइलों को ट्रैक करने का लगातार प्रयास किया और उन्हें बरामद करने में सफलता हासिल की.
मोबाइल फ़ोन स्वामियों को लौटा दिए गए
बरामद सभी मोबाइल फोन उनके असली मालिकों को सौंप दिए गए। लंबे समय बाद अपना खोया हुआ मोबाइल वापस पाकर लोगों के चेहरे पर खुशी साफ झलक रही थी। कई लोगों ने पुलिस का आभार भी जताया और इस पहल की सराहना की.
पुलिस की कार्रवाई से आत्मविश्वास बढ़ा
इस पूरी कार्रवाई से न सिर्फ आम लोगों का पुलिस पर भरोसा मजबूत हुआ है, बल्कि अपराधियों को भी कड़ा संदेश मिला है. पुलिस अधीक्षक ने कहा कि इस तरह के अभियान आगे भी जारी रहेंगे, ताकि लोगों की समस्याओं का समाधान हो सके और अपराध पर नियंत्रण किया जा सके.

A Lebanese journalist was killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. Rescuers recovered his body hours after the attack, amid ongoing hostilities related to the Israel–Hezbollah conflict.Al-Akhbar reporter Amal Khalil took shelter in a house in the village of al-Tiri while covering the fighting. According to Lebanese officials, the attack on the house came shortly after an earlier Israeli attack in the area.Lebanese health ministry officials said two people were killed in the initial attack. After this, the second attack took place on the building where Khalil and his associate Zainab Faraz had taken shelter. Faraz was seriously injured and was pulled from the debris, but rescue teams were unable to immediately reach Khalil.The ministry said Israeli shelling in the area forced emergency responders to suspend their operations, causing delays in reaching the site. Khalil remained trapped under the debris for several hours before Lebanese Army units, civil protection teams and the Lebanese Red Cross were able to reach him. His body was recovered late at night, more than six hours after the attack.Israel’s military said it was reviewing the incident and ascertaining whether the villagers had violated the ceasefire and posed a threat to its forces. Victory‘s TVK could tilt the balance.The campaign began as a contest over governance and welfare, and gradually transformed into a larger political argument about identity, federalism and the state’s place in the union. Thanks to Stalin’s efforts to make it a Centre-State fight, the campaign maintained a nationalized tone punctuated by political idioms specific to Tamil Nadu.DMK Started the campaign with the advantage of a strong coalition, a governance track record and visible welfare delivery. Chief Minister and DMK president Stalin, who symbolically launched his campaign from Tiruvarur, the ancestral residence of his father M Karunanidhi, put forward schemes for women and youth. As days passed, his message transformed into a sustained attack on the BJP-led central government. Increasingly, Stalin reminded voters of the “injustice” done to the state by the Centre, and warned voters of what it might do if its ally ADMK returned to power.Gradually, monthly cash transfers and free bus travel for women and free breakfast schemes for school students took a back seat due to an intense political pitch. At the peak of the campaign, Stalin wore a black shirt and dramatically set fire to a copy of the Delimitation Bill, thereby viewing the election as a defense of Tamil Nadu’s rights against Delhi. Yet, in his quiet, direct approach – his morning walks and impromptu meetings with beneficiaries – he returned to the language of welfare and distribution.At the end of the election campaign, Stalin attempted to strike that balance. “After being re-elected, my first signature will be on the order to distribute coupons of Rs 8,000 to women,” he said.Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin Campaigned with vigorous speeches throughout the state. While Stalin spoke in pure Tamil, Udhayanidhi opted for a more conversational, witty style, often taking aim at Epps. Apart from AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge campaigned for the alliance, but rumors of separation spread as Rahul and Stalin did not share the stage.The NDA flexed its national muscle with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah organizing road shows and rallies. While Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu campaigned briefly, the alliance’s most consistent campaigner was EPS.Establishing herself as a self-made leader, EPS kept her message simple and straightforward, focusing on women’s safety, drugs and the alleged governance failures of the DMK. Launching his post-Model Code campaign in Mylapore for BJP candidate Tamilisai Soundararajan, he traveled extensively, mainly attacking Stalin and Udhayanidhi. After the DMK repeatedly called him a “slave of the BJP” and taunted him with the old image of Udayanidhi falling at the feet of VK Sasikala, the EPS launched personal attacks on the Karunanidhi family.The coalition arithmetic – bringing together BJP, PMK and AMMK – gave strength to the NDA. There were reports of dissatisfaction over former BJP state chief K Annamalai’s exclusion from the candidate list, but he eventually joined the campaign. State BJP president Nainar Nagendran found his voice drowned out in the high-decibel presence of national leaders, while PMK’s Anbumani Ramadoss has focused on consolidating Vanniyar support in the northern and western districts for the NDA.And the havoc of wildcard victory continued. Campaigning sparingly but drawing large crowds, he attempted to frame the contest as one between DMK and TVK, taking aim at Stalin while avoiding direct attacks on EPS and BJP. Contesting elections in Perambur and Trichy East, and fielding candidates on 233 seats, his presence was much larger than his limited campaign hours suggested.TOI analysis of the last week of the campaign revealed that Stalin spoke for 356 minutes, EPS for 800 minutes and Vijay for just 35 minutes. Nevertheless, Vijay’s appearance holds high commemorative value – a sign that visibility and influence are no longer directly proportional in the age of spectacle politics.Both Stalin and EPS decided to ignore the large-scale victory. The closest Stalin came to targeting him was when he urged voters in Perambur to choose between an “inaccessible newcomer who makes plays” and “a leader who is accessible and responsive”. Nam Tamilar Katchi’s Seeman made amends to DMK and ADMK by targeting Vijay while speaking eloquently on the politics of Tamil identity and self-respect.All the contenders released promos, impactful videos and memes on social media with a vengeance. Despite its strong arguments against the alleged rise in crime and corruption, the ADMK-led alliance could not turn the tide of anti-incumbency sentiment. If the TVK pulls away from the anti-government votes – and fails to achieve a major victory on its own – and if the average voter chooses continuity and welfare, the DMK may be in a stronger position.
EdappadiThis seat in Salem district has been the home turf of ADMK general secretary EPS for a long time. He has won five of the eight election battles fought here, including three in a row since 2011. With the support of his community, the Gounders, Palaniswami may be feeling confident about his prospects here despite the challenge from the DMK and colleagues-turned-foes like O Panneerselvam and VK Sasikala.Previous winners: 2011, 2016, 2021 (ADMK)LalgudiLima Rose Martin, wife of lottery baron Santiago Martin and the richest candidate in these elections – she has declared assets worth over Rs 1,000 crore – is in the fray here. She joined ADMK only in February, but the ADMK rank and file is working overtime to ensure her victory. The DMK, which has won the seat eight times since 1971, has fielded a low-profile candidate in place of sitting MLA Soundarrapandian.Previous winners: 2011, 2016, 2021 (DMK)CoalMeaningUrKolathur has been represented by CM MK Stalin in Chennai since its formation in 2011. In 2021, he defeated his ADMK rival by a margin of over 70,000 votes. The DMK will rely on Stalin’s reach, governance record and the organizational strength of the party to continue its winning streak here. The opposition has highlighted local issues and shortcomings of governance.Previous winners: 2011, 2016, 2021 (DMK)Madurai CentralIT Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan is trying to score a hat-trick of victories here. But he faces a fight in the form of Sundar C of ADMK ally Puthiya Neeti Katchi (PNK). The actor-director’s wife Khushboo, herself an actress, has added a touch of glamor to his campaign. TVK’s VMS Mustafa and NTK’s K Abdul Hakim may split the minority votes, causing damage to the DMK.Previous winners: 2011 (DMDK); 2016, 2021 (DMK)PeramburThis seat in North Chennai is the seat where actor Joseph Vijay is contesting for the first time. With a large working class population, it was a stronghold of the Left before turning into a DMK stronghold in recent years. Incumbent Shekhar won in 2021 by a margin of over 54,000 votes. Vijay chose the seat because 40,000 voters had signed up on the TVP app and he hopes to win over Dalits and minorities.Previous winners: 2011 (CPM); 2016 (ADMK); 2021 (DMK)Chepauk-TriplicaneThis seat of Chennai is with DMK since 2011. Deputy CM and CM MK Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin won his first election in 2021 here by over 69,000 votes. There are a large number of Muslim voters here who can shape the outcome. The DMK focused on its welfare measures while the opposition talked about local grievances such as parking issues, narrow roads etc.Previous winners: 2011, 2016, 2021 (DMK)
अयोध्या में एक बार फिर सड़क हादसे ने लोगों को झकझोर कर रख दिया है. रामनगरी में तेज रफ्तार “आस्था रथ” की टक्कर से 65 वर्षीय बुजुर्ग श्रद्धालु की मौत हो गई, जबकि कई अन्य घायल हो गए। यह घटना उस वक्त घटी जब बिहार के गोपालगंज से श्रद्धालु एक धार्मिक कार्यक्रम में शामिल होकर लौट रहे थे. हादसे के बाद मौके पर अफरा-तफरी मच गई और परिजनों का रो-रोकर बुरा हाल था. इस घटना को लेकर स्थानीय लोगों में काफी गुस्सा है.

जानकारी के मुताबिक, गोपालगंज (बिहार) से कई श्रद्धालु अयोध्या में फलहारी बाबा के यहां आयोजित यज्ञ में शामिल होने आये थे. कार्यक्रम खत्म होने के बाद सभी श्रद्धालु अयोध्या दर्शन के लिए निकले और फिर बैटरी रिक्शा से वापस लौटे. इसी बीच सामने से तेज गति से आ रही आस्था रथ ने रिक्शे में जोरदार टक्कर मार दी।
टक्कर इतनी जोरदार थी कि रिक्शा पलट गया, कई लोग घायल हो गए
प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के मुताबिक टक्कर इतनी भीषण थी कि बैटरी रिक्शा पलट गया। इसमें सवार सभी श्रद्धालु गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए। स्थानीय लोगों की मदद से घायलों को तुरंत अस्पताल पहुंचाया गया. इलाज के दौरान एक बुजुर्ग श्रद्धालु को डॉक्टरों ने मृत घोषित कर दिया, जबकि अन्य का इलाज जारी है.
बिना नंबर प्लेट वाले वाहनों पर उठे सवाल, लोगों में गुस्सा
घटना के बाद स्थानीय लोगों ने प्रशासन पर सवाल उठाए हैं. लोगों का कहना है कि बिना नंबर प्लेट के चलने वाले ”आस्था रथ” पहले भी कई दुर्घटनाओं का कारण बन चुके हैं, लेकिन प्रशासन ने अब तक सख्त कार्रवाई नहीं की है. परिजनों का यह भी आरोप है कि आस्था रथ की तेज रफ्तार और लापरवाही के कारण हादसा हुआ.

कार्रवाई की मांग, प्रशासन से सख्ती की अपील
स्थानीय लोगों और पीड़ित परिवार ने प्रशासन से मांग की है कि ऐसे वाहनों पर तुरंत रोक लगाई जाए और दोषियों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई की जाए. इस हादसे ने एक बार फिर सड़क सुरक्षा और नियमों के पालन को लेकर गंभीर सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं.
