New Delhi: News agency ANI reported that the accused of murder of IRS officer’s daughter was arrested by Delhi Police on Wednesday. He has been taken into custody after he was traced to a hotel in Dwarka.Earlier in the day, a 22-year-old woman was murdered in south Delhi’s Amar Colony area. Investigators suspect that she was probably strangled using a mobile phone charging cable recovered from the scene.According to Delhi Police, the main suspect, identified as Rahul, had initially absconded, prompting multiple teams to conduct raids to trace him. During the investigation, officers reached his residence in Alwar, where it emerged that he was allegedly involved in a molestation incident in his locality just a day before the murder.
Fans from Jaipur had come from Kanpur. From Patna. From Banaras. The stands at Lucknow’s Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium were unusually packed on a hot weekday. Hundreds of supporters of Vaibhav Suryavanshi were determined not to miss a glimpse of this player playing so close to home; After all, one night train journey is enough to reach Lucknow from Samastipur.
However, before that IPL During its visit to the city, Suryavanshi did not provide the grand celebration that the traveling crowd wanted. “If you play more than four overs, you will win the match,” predicted an auto-rickshaw driver on the eve of the game, fearing a Suryavanshi storm against the struggling Lucknow Super Giants team. However, the Super Giants knew this all too well and arrived with the necessary equipment to test the teen.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Rishabh Pant and his men executed a clinical plan. On a red clay pitch that offered remarkable bounce and pace, he resisted the urge to search for swing. Instead, he hit the tough length, forcing Suryavanshi and his opening partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, to take risks and create shots of their own.
The first two overs were costly, yet both Mohammed Shami and fast bowler Prince Yadav stuck to their guns, troubling the young openers with well-directed short balls.
Prince, who can hit speeds above 150km/h, hit two fours when Suryavanshi flicked a half-volley before showing off his wrist art with a delicate late cut through point. However, Prince responded by reducing his length and adding pace to keep the youngster calm.
Initial shocks affect Vaibhav
The restrictive start thwarted Suryavanshi’s early dominance plans. At the other end, Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed by Mohammed Shami as the veteran used all his experience to stop the aggressive opener. After hitting three fours, Shami claimed the breakthrough with a well-directed bouncer, which was brilliantly caught by diving Rishabh Pant.
On his very next ball, Shami pitched full and pulled the ball away from right-hander Dhruv Jurel, who could only take a thick outside edge. The Agra-born wicketkeeper-batsman, who had honed his junior cricket skills on these same grounds in Lucknow, was out of luck due to Shami’s spectacular change in length.
After this, despite Prince’s effective spell, Pant fielded left-handed Mohsin Khan in his place. The gamble worked wonders; Mohsin used his high-arm action to hit the deck hard and force Suryavanshi to give way. Having seen two wickets fall in two balls in the previous over, the 15-year-old was quite cautious.
Ultimately, Suryavanshi’s patience ran out after five consecutive dot balls, leaving him facing the possibility of the first over. The youngster attempted a little cross-batting stroke on a length ball from the left-handed batsman, but could only get the edge.
On any other day, the ball might have fallen into no-man’s-land; However, Digvesh Rathi ran 20 meters from cover and took a good catch, leaving a large section of the Lucknow crowd stunned.
After a slightly shaky start born out of desperation to dismiss the wunderkind, Lucknow saved their chances brilliantly. By the end of the powerplay, Rajasthan Royals were reeling at 44 for 3, with skipper Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer—two players in search of form—who were tasked with steadying the ship.
For Lucknow, the intensity only increased when Mayank Yadav, returning from injury, was seen clocking over 140 km/h at the start of his first over.
This is only the second time that Suryavanshi has been out on a single-digit score in the IPL 2026 season. Despite his early exit in Lucknow, he remains among the top five run-scorers of the tournament with 254 runs in seven matches.

Nepal Home Minister Sudan Gurung, a select aide of PM Balendra Shah, resigned on Wednesday amid a probe into his wealth disclosures, investments and alleged business links with businessman and power broker Deepak Bhatta, who is being investigated in a money-laundering case. In a day of dramatic developments, Shah took charge of the Home Ministry following Gurung’s departure, just 26 days after his anti-corruption government took charge.Gurung’s resignation is the second ministerial setback for Shah in a matter of weeks. On April 9, Shah dismissed Labor, Employment and Social Security Minister Deepak Kumar Shah after a disciplinary panel found that he had misused his position to retain his wife Junu Shrestha on the health insurance board, a move the party said was a violation of its code of conduct and discipline.Gurung, a former events manager and nightclub DJ who founded the NGO Hami Nepal after helping with relief efforts during the 2015 earthquake, had emerged as one of the leaders of last year’s deadly Gen Z protests that forced former PM KP Sharma Oli to resign and ultimately propelled Shah to the prime ministership. Notably, Shah and Gurung formally joined the ruling Rashtriya Swatra Party (RSP) together on January 18, with Gurung announcing on social media that they would enter the party office together.Announcing his resignation, Gurung said he was stepping down to allow a fair investigation and avoid conflict of interest. “For me, morality matters more than a position, and no power is greater than the public trust,” he said, adding that questions raised by citizens should be answered with “moral integrity.” Before resigning, Shah had asked for a written explanation from him.Gen Z activists, whose protests had helped propel Gurung from civil society into Nepal’s political circles, had also demanded his dismissal and arrest after questions were raised over his assets and alleged links with Bhatta. In a statement, Gen-Z Movement Nepal said that allowing him to remain in office “could impact the investigation process and represents a clear conflict of interest”, adding that a minister facing investigation cannot continue without violating “fundamental ethical and legal principles”. The controversy started after the declaration of ministers’ assets became public on 12 April. Gurung declared shares and securities, 89 tola (1.04 kg) of gold, 6 kg of silver, over Rs 61 lakh in Nepali cash, a vehicle and land in Dhankuta, as well as properties registered in the names of his father and grandfather in Chitwan and Gorkha. The revelations raised questions about the wealth of the politician who had built his public image around activism, disaster relief and clean governance. The matter deepened after reports emerged that Gurung held founder-level shares in two micro-insurance firms – Star Micro Insurance and Liberty Micro Life Insurance – where his name had surfaced along with those linked to Bhatta and Shankar Group vice-chairman Sulav Agarwal. Gurung had invested Rs 25 lakh (Rs 15.6 lakh) each in the two companies, which were yet to launch initial public offerings. Agarwal was arrested earlier this month as part of a wide-ranging money-laundering probe into transactions worth Nepali rupees 3.7 billion (Rs 231 crore).Gurung denied hiding the investments, saying they were part of his declared stock-market portfolio. “A person who intends to hide assets does not openly declare investments of more than Rs 20 million,” he had earlier said. He also said that buying shares is not a business partnership. However, critics said that the unlisted founder shares should have been identified separately and not clubbed under general securities holdings. They also raised questions on the source of funds as records showed that on May 9, 2023, Nepali rupees 22.5 lakh (Rs 14 lakh) by Chang Agarwal and Nepali rupees 37.5 lakh (Rs 23.4 lakh) by Bijay Kumar Shrestha were deposited in Gurung’s personal account. The next day, 25 lakh Nepali rupees (₹15.6 lakh) each were transferred from the account to Liberty Micro Life Insurance and Star Micro Insurance.Financial records also raised questions about the donation. Gurung’s personal account had received around Rs 60 lakh (Rs 37.5 lakh) Nepali as COVID-19 relief donations in May–June 2021, of which Rs 25.9 lakh (Rs 16.2 lakh) Nepali were later transferred to Hami Nepal. Hami Nepal received 2.28 crore Nepali rupees (₹1.42 crore) in its bank account between July 2021 and August 2025, while Shankar Group was identified as one of its largest corporate donors.Bhatta, chairman of Infinity Holdings, has interests in energy, real estate, travel, consumer goods, government contracts, insurance and stock-market sectors. The investigators are probing alleged suspicious transactions involving Bhatta, Aggarwal, Shankar Group and Himalayan Reinsurance. Shah’s government is facing protests and clashes at the India-Nepal border over strict customs duties on goods worth more than 100 Nepali rupees (₹63) brought from India, while there have been major demonstrations in Kathmandu over the government’s move to ban party-affiliated student politics in colleges and replace student unions with student councils.
New Delhi: BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya launched a scathing attack on Wednesday Trinamool Congress chairman Mamata Banerjee‘#PAY2TMC’ and ‘Tolabaazi’ taunts were used to target his party over alleged corruption and cash-for-service politics ahead of the assembly elections. In a post on X, he referred to the party’s alleged cash-for-service culture and digital campaign message, writing: “Mamata Banerjee’s ‘Tolabaazi’ now has a digital address: #PAY2TMC.”He further claimed that the posters on the walls in Kolkata reflected public anger against the ruling party, alleging that slogans like ‘Rashan Hok Ba Chakri…Skan Korun’ exposed the ‘true nature’ of the TMC government. “The walls of Kolkata are echoing the absolute hatred of the masses. He wrote, ‘The ‘Rashan Hok Ba Chakri… Scan Korun’ posters expose the real DNA of the TMC government, where every fundamental right comes with a ‘cut-money’ price tag.’ Expanding his attack, Malviya alleged widespread corruption under “TMC’s decade of plunder”, claiming irregularities in recruitment and public distribution systems. Citing the recruitment process of the School Service Commission and the Public Distribution System as examples, he alleged that merit and ration benefits were ’emptied’ through corruption networks. He also said that the situation reflected deep public anger in West Bengal, claiming that “the writing is virtually on the wall” and that the youth and poor of the state have been “blindly looted” for years.Malviya continued his attack on the ruling party, saying, “The countdown to the end of this corrupt, extortionate regime will start tomorrow from Phase 1. Press the button to permanently log out TMC!”Voting will take place in West Bengal in two phases, on April 23 and April 29.

22nd April has become a strange special date Rajasthan RoyalsEspecially when it comes to centuries. Over the years, RR batsmen have repeatedly scored big centuries on this day, forming a remarkable pattern.it started shane watsonWho scored 101 runs against Chennai Super Kings on 22 April 2013. After six years, Ajinkya Rahane Added his name to the list by scoring an unbeaten 105 against Delhi Capitals on the same date in 2019. This trend continued in 2022 also when jos buttler Once again played an inning of 116 runs against Delhi. Most recently, Yashasvi Jaiswal Carried the legacy forward by scoring a brilliant 104* against Mumbai Indians on April 22, 2024.Four different batsmen, four different seasons, same date. At first glance, the continued absence of Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba KhameneiSeems to be a sign of deep instability. In most political systems – especially a centralized system like Iran – the disappearance of the top authority would lead to chaos. But in Iran’s current moment of crisis, this very absence is doing the opposite – helping to preserve the regime.

Iran celebrates Army Day as Mojtaba Khamenei praises military role and readiness amid tensions
The supreme leader has not appeared in public since he was linked to the succession following the reported death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. His name continues to appear in official messages, but without any apparent participation in decision making or presence of confirmation.Even statements made in his name have been broadcast through state media and even AI-generated videos, reinforcing the perception of a leader who is symbolically, but not physically, present in the public administration, CNN reports.
IRGC expanded control
In the absence of visible leadership, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reportedly stepped into a more direct ruling role. Fox News and Iran International reported that IRGC commander Ahmad Vahidi blocked President Massoud Pezeshkian’s attempt to appoint a new intelligence minister, rejecting all proposed candidates, including Hossein Dehghan. The report said Vahidi insisted that all sensitive appointments be handled directly by the IRGC, in what he described as wartime conditions. This has effectively sidelined civilian decision-making in key security departments, although, under Iran’s system, such appointments usually require approval from the Supreme Leader.Furthermore, Pezeshkian’s administration has been described as a “political impasse”. The President’s authority to pursue major decisions appears to be limited, particularly in areas related to intelligence and national security, the Financial Express reports.Iran International also reported that Pezeshkian has repeatedly sought a meeting with Mojtaba Khamenei, but those requests have gone unanswered, deepening uncertainty over where ultimate authority currently lies.
Is Khamenei being used as a political cover?
Analysts suggest the system is using Mojtaba Khamenei’s name as a political cover.CNN quoted Ali Waze as saying, “Mojtaba is not in a position where he can actually make important decisions or micromanage negotiations,” but “the system is using him to get final approval for major broader decisions, not for negotiation strategy.”“The system deliberately highlights Mojtaba’s involvement because it provides a safeguard against internal criticism… unlike his father who regularly appeared and commented on the state of negotiations,” he said, adding, “Mojtaba is missing in action, so attributing his views is a good cover for Iranian negotiators to protect themselves from criticism.”At the same time, Iran’s political message has continued to emphasize unity. State-affiliated outlets have rejected claims of internal disunity, while senior figures such as Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have remained visible at diplomatic engagements, including reported talks in Islamabad.US Vice President JD Vance said the Iranian delegation would have to return to Tehran to seek approval from the supreme leader or “someone else” after talks failed to reach an agreement last week.So far, no agreement has really been possible in Iran without the support of the Supreme Leader. But now, the system is moving to a stage where it is no longer strictly necessary to have public approval of the leader.
