Baglamukhi Jayanti 2026: Significance

Devi Baglamukhi is one of the Mahavidyas. He is mainly worshiped by Sadhaks and Tantriks to attain many powers and devotees worship him during Gupta Navratri falling in the month of Magha and Ashadha. Goddess Baglamukhi is the destroyer of demons and protects the devotees from evil spirits, evil eye and black magic. She is seen wearing yellow clothes and yellow bangles and hence she is known as Pitambara Mata. She provides shield to the devotees from their enemies. Devotees who worship him with devotion and dedicate everything to him never face any difficulties and are not attacked by negative powers. She is one of the fierce forms of Goddess Durga, so devotees should always be careful while worshiping Goddess Baglamukhi as even a single mistake can cause big problem, so it would be better if they worship her under the guidance of an expert. Devotees are advised to worship him only by lighting a lamp and offering him clothes but not to chant mantras as various rules and guidelines should be followed while chanting mantras and small mistakes can bring negative karma.

According to Hindu scriptures, it is believed that once upon a time in Satyayuga, everything was on the verge of destruction, then a terrible flood occurred. People were dying as a result of panic. When Lord Vishnu saw the worst, he turned to Lord Shiva for help. However, Lord Shiva informed him that only Goddess Shakti has the ability to stop storms and floods. The goddess was severely punished by Lord Vishnu, and she reappeared as Bagalamukhi in Haridra Sarovar in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, saving all living beings. Since then Goddess Baglamukhi has been worshipped.

Baglamukhi Jayanti 2026: Puja rituals

1. Take a holy bath as soon as you wake up in the morning.2. Devotees should wear yellow clothes before starting the puja process.3. Place the idol or yantra of Goddess Baglamukhi on a wooden plank covered with yellow cotton cloth.4. Light a desi ghee lamp in front of the Goddess, decorate her with yellow clothes, offer her a garland of yellow flowers and yellow sweets (besan halwa or any other yellow sweet) as prasad.5. Chant the mantras of Goddess Durga to please the Goddess.6. Devotees can visit Baglamukhi temple to seek blessings.
