Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid, UEFA Champions League: Fermin Lopez suffers horrific injury in quarter-final
Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez suffered a serious injury in the first half of the Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid second leg in the Champions League quarter-finals. While diving to score Barcelona’s third goal of the match, Fermin was hit by the boot of Atleti goalkeeper Juan Musso.
Fermin, who attempted a diving header inside the box, made contact with the ball and fired it wide before being caught by the outstretched side of the goalkeeper’s left foot. Musso’s stud hit the Barcelona number 16 in the face.
Firmin immediately went to the field, blood was falling on the pitch. The cameras showed the scene briefly, but soon cut away, as Fermin struggled to get back on his feet after the collision.
There was a long pause in the game, allowing the player a chance to receive treatment and recover.
