Punjab Kings will look to halt their worrying decline when they take on in-form Delhi Capitals in an IPL 2026 clash at the beautiful HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Monday. After being the only unbeaten team earlier in the tournament, PBKS have now suffered three consecutive defeats and need to quickly build momentum towards the end of the season.Punjab’s recent struggles have come due to poor fielding, expensive bowling from the fast bowlers led by Arshdeep Singh and the decline of openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. However, captain Shreyas Iyer remains optimistic and has urged his team to stick to the aggressive mindset that has led to success earlier in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have had a disappointing campaign and have lost five of their last six matches. Their batting line-up is struggling badly on slow pitches, while spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s poor form has added to the team’s troubles. With captain Axar Patel already hinting at plans for next season, DC may experiment with bench players in the remaining games.Although Delhi are mathematically still alive in the race for the playoffs, their chances of qualification in the competition look extremely slim.

The evening is expected to be cool in Dharamshala with the temperature hovering around 14 degrees Celsius, while thunderstorms and scattered rain are expected early in the day. RCB vs MI, IPL 2026 Day Play: Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s six beats his four in Raipur

Bhuvneshwar Kumar had already organized a proper fast bowler’s night in Raipur. Four wickets, destruction in the powerplay, clever knuckleball, a yorker in the death overs and another step towards the purple cap. And then somehow he also played the shot of the match.

IPLRCB vs MI: highlighted | Achievement:

Krunal Pandya did not hit five sixes while batting despite cramps. No late fight from Mumbai Indians. Even on the last ball there was no scuffle Game sealed for Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the last over of chasing the target, Bhuvneshwar Kumar hit a six over cover which completely turned the game.

And somehow, that one swing of the bat seemed bigger than the four wickets taken earlier in the night. Because without that six RCB might have been losing.

By then the game had turned into complete chaos. RCB were chasing 167 runs and looked largely in control thanks to Krunal Pandya’s fighting knock of 73 runs in 46 balls. But once the all-rounder fell after battling cramps for almost half his innings, Mumbai got one last chance.

Then came Jasprit Bumrah’s ridiculous 19th over. MI completely drained the pressure on RCB, forcing Raj Bawa to defend 15 runs in the final over. With wickets falling regularly and tension all around, Mumbai suddenly looked like the favorites again.

But refused to behave normally in the last over.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar moves from destroyer to finisher

Three wides. A no-ball. One wicket. Pure panic. There was everything but peace in that last over.

Even after the dismissal of Romario Shepherd in an attempt to push the pace, RCB somehow held on as Mumbai could not shut the door completely. Then came Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Now, this is a man whose job for most of his IPL life has been to wreck batting line-ups and not chase runs with sixes. His previous IPL six before this? Back in 2016.

Yes. 2016.

The same season in which he won the Purple Cap and helped Sunrisers Hyderabad win the title. And yet there he was at Raipur, when RCB were floundering, carelessly cutting Raj Bawa over cover for six, it was all part of the plan.

Just a neat cricket shot under ridiculous pressure. The dugout immediately exploded as everyone knew how huge that moment was. Mumbai lost control of the over right there.

That one shot completely changed the mood of the chase.

Kunal’s tight fight sets the stage for madness

The irony of the end was that Krunal Pandya had already done almost everything needed to win the game. RCB had a very bad start while chasing the target. Virat Kohli was out on zero for the second consecutive time. Devdutt Padikkal came soon after. Then Rajat Patidar also left.

At 39/3, Mumbai are right back into the contest. After this, Krunal went against his former franchise and gradually dragged RCB back to the target through his stubbornness.

He rebuilt carefully first before launching a clever attack on spin. But the real drama started when he started having body cramps in the final overs. At one time it seemed as if his legs had given up.

And then somehow, he managed to hit AM Ghazanfar for two consecutive sixes in the 18th over. His innings of 73 runs in 46 balls already looked like a match-winner.

But after his dismissal, it seemed that things were going to go waste for this all-rounder.

This is what made Bhuvneshwar’s six even bigger.

A fast bowler who had already taken four wickets somehow also hit the most important shot of the match. Only IPL can script this kind of nonsense properly sometimes.

However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s sensational spell of 4/23 had earlier dismantled the top order, removing Ryan Rickelton, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav in quick succession and later dismissing Tilak Verma as well, ensuring MI were restricted to a fighting total despite resistance from their middle order. An atmosphere of chaos started. Deepak Chahar dismissed Virat Kohli for a golden duck in the very first over, while Devdutt Padikkal also departed cheaply as RCB slipped to 24/2. Corbin Bosch then joined the attack and dismissed captain Rajat Patidar to reduce Bengaluru to 47/3 at the end of the powerplay. At that time Mumbai was firmly on top. Krunal Pandya notably bowls out MI as RCB register thrilling last-ball win

It was a memorable night at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Sunday, May 10, as the Indian Premier League played out one of its first real low-scoring thrillers of the season. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who hit his first IPL six in 10 years, proved to be a hero for the defending champions as they needed him most, performing well with both bat and ball.

RCB had lagged behind in the playoff race this season after losing two consecutive games against Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans. In dire need of breaking that sequence, RCB found a savior in Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who took three wickets for them in the powerplay.

IPLRCB vs MI: highlighted | Achievement:

An exceptional opening spell helped RCB restrict Mumbai Indians to 28/3 at the end of three overs. He later made a comeback in the death overs to dismiss Tilak Verma, Mumbai’s best batsman that night, when he looked set to provide a big finish for MI in the first innings of the match.

Bhuvneshwar might have thought that his four-over quick spell, where he recorded figures of 4/24, was enough to win the game for RCB. However, the seam bowler found himself in trouble once again, this time in 19.4 overs, with RCB needing 11 runs to win off the last three balls.

Hearts pounding and doubt creeping in, Bhuvneshwar hit a wide yorker from Raj Angad Bawa. The ball caught the meat of the bat and bounced over the deep point fielder for his first IPL six in the last 10 years.

OG IPL fans will remember the time when Bhuvneshwar Kumar was known as a pinch hitter. In the 2016 season of the IPL, during SRH’s title-winning campaign, Bhuvneshwar also scored 43 runs at a strike-rate of 160.

But over the years, those capabilities had diminished. And perhaps no one would have believed on Sunday that Bhuvi could do something like this for the defending champions.

With the stage set for a thrill on the last ball after Bhuvneshwar’s six, RCB’s tail-enders ensured they did not spoil the game. Two runs were needed to win, but Bhuvneshwar and Rasikh Salam had the presence of mind to run hard between the wickets, hit a big dive and save the dying match for RCB.

MI keeper Ryan Rickelton, who ran madly up to the stumps and smashed the wickets, threw the ball away in frustration, knowing full well that it had not reached him in time.

It was a clear indictment of Mumbai Indians this season, where they found themselves trailing the competition due to small but costly mistakes throughout the campaign.

Krunal showed his inner Maxwell

The target was expected to be easily achieved after a good performance by the bowlers, but it turned out to be a nightmare for RCB, who lost their talisman Virat Kohli for a duck on the very first ball, his second in a row this season.

When Deepak Chahar created a ruckus in the powerplay and removed Devdutt Padikkal with a sensational delivery in the off-stump channel, alarm bells rang.

The pressure mounted on RCB, as it had in the last two matches, as Corbyn Bosch made the best of the surface up and down the field and troubled the RCB batsmen a lot. Many of those balls hit the batsmen, which shows how unfavorable Bosch’s spell had become.

This is where RCB got the aggressive Krunal Pandya. After the dismissal of Rajat Patidar, Krunal handled the RCB innings very carefully. He controlled Bosch’s aggressive spell and cut the ball loose in the ninth over of the match.

As others struggled around him, Krunal’s well-thought-out counter-attacks kept RCB in the game. Towards the end of his innings, Krunal was struggling with cramps and was jumping up and down after almost every ball.

But that didn’t stop him from really coming alive in the latter stages of his innings. More importantly, he played almost 50 balls on a surface where most batsmen were struggling and still managed to score 74 runs, once again playing a vital innings for RCB, as he did in their title-winning season last year.

The match changed in the 18th over, when Krunal was caught by Naman Dheer at midwicket while trying to hit a six off Allah Ghazanfar. The fielder bounded between his legs and threw the ball towards Tilak Verma near the boundary line. Tilak, perhaps thinking that Naman Dheer had crossed the boundary cushion, did not attempt a relay catch, which brought great relief to RCB.

Krunal took full advantage of that gift of life and hit Ghazanfar with two powerful blows on the next three balls. However, he was not successful in lasting till the end, as he lost his wicket while attempting to hit the third six of the over on the last ball of the same over.

When Tilak completed the high catch the RCB dugout sank, almost believing that the fate of the game was sealed. But see later, after a big relief, those two extra sixes probably won the match for RCB.

Evergreen Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named Player of the Match for his special spell of 4/24 and the match-winning six that tilted the game in RCB’s favour. In an era where almost every batsman is desperate to hit a six, it was only fitting that a low-scoring thriller was decided by a man who had not hit a six for a decade.

Bhuvi’s series of deceptions, where he looked to mix his trademark outswing with a deceptive knuckle ball, helped RCB take control of the match very early in the contest.

Bhuvneshwar destroyed the MI team by taking the wickets of Ryan Rickelton, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav in the powerplay. Later, he returned to clean bowl the aggressive Tilak Verma as well.

After that four-wicket spell, Bhuvneshwar Kumar now holds the record for most wickets in IPL 2026 after 11 matches. With 21 wickets to his name, one wonders why this player cannot be given a farewell T20I for India. Bhuvi has not played for the national team for almost four years, and it would perhaps be a fitting farewell for one of the special servants of Indian cricket.

IPL 2026: Why is Hardik Pandya missing RCB vs MI? Mumbai clarifies on captain’s continuous absence

Hardik Pandya missed his second consecutive match for Mumbai Indians on Saturday as he remained unavailable for the IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Raipur. This is the third time this season that the MI captain has missed match action.

Pandya had already missed Mumbai’s previous clash There continue to be fitness concerns around the all-rounder, who suffered back spasms against Lucknow Super Giants. After the toss, Mumbai confirmed that their captain has still not been cleared by the medical team.

IPLRCB vs MI: Update | Achievement:

Explaining the captain’s absence, MI said, “Hardik has not been cleared by the medical team to take the field.”

With Pandya unavailable again, Suryakumar Yadav stepped up to lead the team after joining the team following the birth of his daughter earlier this week.

Interestingly, when the Mumbai team initially traveled to Raipur, neither Hardik nor Suryakumar were with the group. Whereas Suryakumar stayed there due to family commitmentsPandya was still recovering after suffering from back spasms during MI’s recent phase of matches.

Hardik eventually joined the team on May 7 in Raipur, but the franchise decided not to risk him again against RCB.

The MI captain was last seen during Mumbai’s clash against Chennai Super Kings before missing the win over LSG and has now missed the RCB match as well.

Why is Hardik Pandya out of IPL action?

Pandya’s current absence This is related to the back spasm I suffered earlier this week.

The injury is understood to be a minor one, but Mumbai’s medical staff has advised rest given the busy schedule and the importance of managing his workload properly.

Although Hardik traveled to Raipur and was around the team, he still did not get full clearance in time for the RCB match.

This is now the third time in IPL 2026 that Pandya has not played a match for Mumbai, adding to a disappointing season for the franchise captain, both individually and collectively.

Mumbai have struggled badly for consistency this year and Hardik’s fitness problems towards the end of the tournament have compounded those problems.

Can MI qualify for IPL 2026 playoffs?

Mumbai Indians are currently placed ninth in the IPL 2026 points table with only six points from 10 matches.

With only four league matches left before the clash with RCB, MI’s playoff equation had already become extremely difficult.

The five-time champions now effectively need to win every remaining match and hope results elsewhere also go in their favor to keep their playoff hopes alive.

While Mumbai managed to defeat Lucknow Super Giants in their last match under the captaincy of Suryakumar, the margin for error is almost nil at this stage of the season.

A defeat against RCB will take them even closer to elimination.

RCB vs MI: Playing XI

Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again showed why he is considered one of the most exciting young talents in the IPL, but Matthew Hayden believe in Rajasthan Royals The opening batsman still has to learn an important lesson in T20 cricket.Suryavanshi looked dangerous from the start as Rajasthan chased a mammoth target of 230 against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The left-handed batsman scored 36 runs in just 16 balls and gave Royals hope of achieving a lofty target. However, Mohammad Siraj Kishore was removed at a crucial moment, and Rajasthan never recovered from the blow and eventually suffered a crushing 77-run defeat.

Speaking after the game, Hayden admitted that he was impressed by the fearless approach shown by the young batsman. But the former Australia opener also explained why a quick-fire cameo is not enough when chasing a target above 220.“Well, tonight there was a good example of an exciting young talent in Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He batted, scored 30 runs at a strike rate of 300. But when you are chasing 220, you need to bat long and deep. So the advantage we have is that we get players like the top three you mentioned, who are striking at a strike rate of 150,” Hayden said in the post-match press conference. Told reporters during the conference.Hayden then highlighted what separates Gujarat Titans from many other teams this season. According to him, the stability of the Titans’ top order is built around balancing aggression with longer stays at the crease.“Let me tell you, as a batsman, it is really tough, and they have been doing it for a long time, they are consistently going into the back half of the game, not just batting inside the powerplay. They are really doing the right thing with their fitness and their ability to be able to play Test match-type cricket and especially ODI cricket,” he said.Gujarat Titans’ top three have been one of the most consistent batting units in IPL 2026. Shubman Gill In this season, runs have been scored at a strike rate of 160.41. jos buttler And Sai Sudarshan have maintained strike rates of 151.96 and 157.70 respectively.Hayden also admitted that Gujarat are generally more comfortable in games where the total is around 160 to 180. That’s why he was particularly pleased with the way the Titans took their batting approach against an unpredictable Rajasthan team capable of producing explosive performances.Hayden said, “So, I like the fact that we are building innings. Tonight, where we are setting a target, which is a different challenge for us, we have had a lot of totals in the 160 range. I will back our batting any day of the week, so it was good tonight to face a challenge against an X-factor team like Rajasthan Royals, and coming out on top was really important for us.”Earlier in the match, Gill led Gujarat’s batting effort with a brilliant 84 off just 44 balls, helping the Titans post a challenging score of 229/6 in 20 overs, before their bowlers sealed a dominant win.

IPL 2026, RR vs GT: Shane Bond says RR bowlers should think differently after 200-plus leak

RR bowling coach Shane Bond criticized his bowlers after they once again gave away a score of over 200 during the defeat to Gujarat Titans on Saturday, May 9. Rajasthan gave 229 runs in the first innings Against GT at Sawai Mansingh Stadium and lost the match by 77 runs.

In the last three matches, Rajasthan have scored 229, 222, 226 runs before losing to Gujarat. During the clash in Jaipur Jofra Archer had a very bad outingHe bowled one over in the last 11 balls and gave away 46 runs during his three-over spell. The defeat also means RR have lost three games in Jaipur this season.

In the press conference after the match, Bond said that Rajasthan did not play well in the conditions. He said that RR bowlers need to think outside the box.

Bond said the decision against GT was not consistent enough

“We haven’t played well in the conditions that we know we’re in. We’ve been outmatched by our opponent,” Bond said. “I look at the bowlers, they just have to be better, right? You have to think outside the box a little bit. There are two things: decision making and execution. I think tonight, you probably noticed that the execution wasn’t consistent for quite a while.

‘Bowlers need to think differently’

with IPL Seeing the batsmen being overly aggressive, Bond said the bowlers need to think outside the box to deal with them and get results.

“And I think if you look across the board in the IPL, that’s just what has happened. The batsmen, they’re coming in, they’re playing ultra-aggressive, and putting pressure on the bowlers. So as a bowler, you have to ask, OK, ‘What can I do differently?’ [They] I have to spend more time with the analysts to know where each batsman is going to go… which areas they are going to score in,” Bond said.

RR’s bowling coach said that the bowlers are not developing themselves and claimed that the only way to go about things would be to feel the opportunity to shine amidst all the batting chaos.

“I may have to bowl short runs and long runs. I have to be able to come around the wicket and bowl to both sides. So, when you see bowlers doing the same thing, game after game after game, getting the same results, my question would be: You have to do something different and develop your game. Now you look at the batsmen, they are playing uppercuts, they are reverses, they are scooping. They have developed a lot of range. Shots. So a bowler has to develop his range of skills as well. I think it’s a great opportunity for any bowler: ‘If I can do that, I can earn myself a lot of money and become a superstar.’

“I don’t think you’ve seen that consistently. It’s certainly not easy for the bowlers, but you can either be scared of it, scared of what’s going on out there, or see it as an opportunity to get better and maybe make a name for yourself,” Bond said.

After a week’s break, RR will next face DC on May 17.

Virat Kohli is once again on the verge of rewriting the record books. Ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s clash against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, Kohli is just 28 runs away from becoming the first batsman in IPL history to score 1,000 runs against the five-time champions. In RCB’s last innings against MI at the Wankhede Stadium, Kohli crossed the milestone of 1,000 runs in T20 cricket against Mumbai Indians, which included runs in both the IPL and Champions League T20. Kohli scored 50 runs in 38 balls in that match and his total now stands at 1,030 runs in T20 against MI. However, in the IPL alone, he has 972 runs against him, which means he needs just 28 more runs to become the first batsman to score 1,000 IPL runs against Mumbai Indians. His consistency against one of the league’s most successful teams highlights both his longevity and dominance at the highest level.

IPL 2026, RCB vs MI: Is IPL hurting Jacob Bettall’s career? RCB batsman reacts to Alastair Cook-Kevin Pietersen debate

Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Jacob Bethel opened up on the recent debate between Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen regarding the role of IPL in his career. Cook had questioned Bethel’s decision to remain with RCB despite spending time on the bench. He suggested that regular county cricket for Warwickshire would help Bethel’s development more than sitting out games in the IPL.

However, Peterson strongly disagreedEmphasizing that it has to be part of IPL The environment itself was invaluable to a young player like Bethel. Pietersen said training with elite cricketers, learning from top coaches and experiencing the pressure of franchise cricket could help Bethel develop faster.

‘I’m happy where I am’

Bethel defended his decision, saying that playing with the best players in the world would improve his game, while insisting that he was happy with his career path.

“Everyone thinks differently, but from a personal point of view, I think I have taken the right decision. This is the marquee tournament of the year, with almost all the best cricketers in the world playing,” Bethel said at the press conference ahead of RCB’s match against Mumbai Indians on Sunday.

Bethel said, “I definitely don’t think it will hurt my career or stop me from getting better. I think it will be the opposite. Everyone is allowed to think what they want, but at the end of the day, I’m pretty happy with where I’m at.”

Bethel could not perform consistently for RCB in IPL 2026, scoring 43 runs in four matches at an average of 10.75 and a strike rate of 138.70. Bethel spent most of the season on the bench and only got his chance when opening batsman Phil Salt suffered a finger injury and returned home for scans. Since then, the young England batsman has opened alongside Virat Kohli as RCB looks to fill the void left by Salt’s absence.

Meanwhile, if RCB beats MI in Raipur and tightens its grip on the playoff spot, they have a strong chance of topping the table.
