Mishkat Verma, Aastha Sharma, Ejaz Khan and Mansi Salvi to star in 'Dilon Ki Ram Leela'; Mishkat says, 'The story is very emotional and heart touching'

The audience recently watched the first preview of Tu Hi Re Dil Mein. The channel is preparing to launch another heartwarming show titled “Dilon Ki Ram Leela”. It’s an all-out tearjerker about love, family, and those intense emotions that feel like they rule our destinies. these are the stars Aastha Sharma and Mishkat Verma, and famous actors including ajaz khan and Manasi Salvi, together, what promises to be a very warm and emotional journey. The main character, Leela, seems to have everything – fancy money, top status and a luxurious life. But under all that luxury, she is alone and desperate for her father’s approval and wants to feel accepted and loved by her family. Therefore, she turns to Rama, her father’s loyal assistant. Over time, he becomes the rock she can depend on. For Ram, family is everything – more important than anything else. Her family supports her which is a far cry from Leela’s money and glamour. Despite these major differences, fate sets paths between them, creating an unstoppable relationship between them based on trust, care and comfort.Aastha Sharma, who will be seen as Leela, said, “I am extremely excited to be a part of Dilon Ki Ram Leela. Leela is an emotionally rich and interesting character, and I am really enjoying bringing her journey to life on screen. There is so much innocence, strength and emotion in her story, which makes her very special to play. I am really excited to see how the audience reacts to the show and connect with Leela’s emotional journey.Mishkat Verma, who plays the role of Ram, said, “I am very happy to be a part of Dilon Ki Ram Leela. The story is extremely emotional and heart-touching, and I really feel that the audience will connect with it deeply. Shooting for the show has been an amazing experience so far, and I am thoroughly enjoying playing the role of Ram and getting to know his world and relationships.”Aijaz Khan said, “Being a part of Dilon Ki Ram Leela has been a very interesting experience for me. Both the show and my character are quite different from what the audience has seen before. The character has a lot of emotional depth, which honestly makes it both exciting and challenging to portray. It has been especially challenging for me to understand and play the character of a father who holds such a deep resentment towards his own daughter. I’m not a father myself, so finding that emotional space and understanding where those feelings come from has been a real learning experience. I’m constantly trying to find the right balance that feels authentic and relatable to the audience. When you look at the story, especially the complex relationship between a father and his daughter, it’s incredibly layered.”Mansi Salvi said, “I am very happy to be associated with Dilon Ki Ram Leela. I found both the story and my character extremely interesting right from the beginning. I have always loved playing strong women on screen and this character is such a powerful woman with so many emotional layers. I really hope that the audience connects with the story and give the show a lot of love.”

The couple were among the 12 foreign nationals who lost their lives in the fire that broke out at Flourish Stay B&B in Hauz Rani on Wednesday.

New Delhi: An African couple undergoing IVF treatment in Delhi was found dead in each other’s arms after a massive fire broke out at a hotel in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area, killing 21 people.According to news agency PTI, the couple were among the 12 foreign nationals who lost their lives in the fire that broke out at the Flourish Stay B&B in Hauz Rani on Wednesday. He was discovered inside a bathroom on the ground floor, where he apparently took refuge as smoke and flames spread rapidly through the building.Hospital staff and local residents said the couple were staying at the hospital while receiving fertility treatment at a nearby hospital.Wasim Raja, on duty at Max Smart Hospital and one of the first responders at the scene, said the scene he saw was unforgettable, according to news agency PTI.Raja said, “We somehow managed to open the bathroom door and saw something that is beyond words to describe. I have seen many dead bodies during my career, but nothing compared to what I saw there.”According to Raja, the woman, who had recently undergone a medical procedure and had a surgery scar on her head, was sitting on the toilet seat, while her husband was sitting on a chair next to her.“They were holding each other. Their arms were wrapped around each other and her head was resting on his shoulder,” he said.Rescue workers immediately checked for signs of life and attempted to revive him.“We checked his pulse and vitals and tried CPR and every possible life-saving measure, but there was no response. He probably died due to smoke inhalation,” he said.He said it appears the couple has chosen to stay together after the tragedy unfolded.King said, “When death was approaching, they decided to face it together in each other’s arms. It was a scene that will stay with me forever.”Iqrar, a local cab operator who lives near the hotel, said that many drivers in the area knew the couple as they frequently visited the hospital.“They were undergoing IVF treatment. Drivers in our area often brought them to the hospital and back. While permission was reportedly given for only six rooms, around 25 rooms were reportedly being run from the premises. The exact cause of the fire is being investigated.Delhi Police has started searching for the absconding hotel manager and has issued a look out circular against the building owner and his wife. The owner of the hotel building, Lavkesh Bajaj, was arrested on Wednesday, hours after the incident. Those killed also included foreign nationals from African and Central Asian countries who had come to Delhi for treatment, employment or business opportunities.

'You can't criticize Abhishek': TMC rebel explains breaking point of disagreement

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress rebels intensified their protest on Thursday Abhishek Banerjee And explained the reason for his disagreement.Expelled TMC MLA Sandipan Saha told PTI that the breaking point came during a post-poll meeting where MLAs were reportedly told that criticism of party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee would not be tolerated despite the party’s electoral setback.According to Saha, the MLAs were instructed to appreciate the leadership of Abhishek Banerjee instead of questioning the reasons for the defeat.Saha said, “The trigger point came after the party’s election defeat. No one was allowed to utter a single word of criticism about Abhishek. Instead, we were instructed that he had performed exceptionally well and everyone should stand up and congratulate him.”The comments provide perhaps the clearest insight yet into what rebels describe as growing resentment over the concentration of power around Mamata BanerjeeNephew and political heir apparent.‘Insult’ of senior leaders!Saha argued that the issue was not just electoral defeat, but what he described as shrinking space for dissent within the party.Saha claimed that experienced MLAs who have been in politics long before the rise of Abhishek Banerjee are also expected to join him.“This includes MLAs who have been serving in the Assembly since the time when Abhishek Banerjee was probably still going to school. They were also forced to stand up and applaud,” he said. For many MLAs, especially those who built the party with Mamata Banerjee during years of struggle against the Left Front, the episode became symbolic of a broader shift within the TMC – from a movement driven by grassroots leaders to one increasingly centered around a single power centre.Several rebel leaders have argued privately that although Mamata Banerjee remains the undisputed mass leader of the party, the decision-making process has increasingly become circumscribed around Abhishek Banerjee.Dissatisfaction ultimately erupted over the selection of the Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in the Assembly. The rebels allege that despite their absence from the process, signatures of some MLAs were shown in support of the candidature of senior leader Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay.Saha alleged, “Some MLA leaders were not present for the opposition selection, yet their names were written in capital letters.”He said the objections raised by the dissident camp led to a complaint before the Speaker and ultimately encouraged more MLAs to come forward. He said, “When the investigation started, evidence started emerging confirming the truth of these allegations. Other MLAs started reaching out to us.”What started as a dispute over the opposition leadership soon became a major challenge to the internal power structure of the party.“After discussing amongst ourselves, we concluded that if we have to effectively discharge our duties within the Assembly and serve our respective constituencies, we need to form a separate group,” Saha said. The faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha has staked claim to the LOP post after submitting the signatures of 58 MLAs to the Speaker, creating the biggest crisis of Mamata Banerjee’s political career. While the TMC leadership has expelled key rebel leaders, the rebels say the rebellion is ultimately about internal democracy, accountability after the defeat and protest against Abhishek Banerjee’s unquestioned promotion within the party.

'His success will redefine the Test team': Ashwin sees Shubman Gill as India's future in red-ball cricket

Former Indian off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has supported the test captain Shubman Gill Set to be a key figure in India’s future in the longest format, he said the batsman’s success can have a big impact on the team’s next phase.Ahead of India’s one-off Test against Afghanistan at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh from June 6, Ashwin praised Gill’s captaincy and batting during India’s recent tour of England, where he led the team in a Test series for the first time.“Shubman Gill played a brilliant series in England. As soon as he was made the captain, he went there and performed well both with the bat and with his leadership. He scored runs in difficult situations and handled the pressure of captaincy with maturity. This shows his class and his ability to bat for a long time,” Ashwin told Geo Hotstar.Ashwin said the work done by Gill on his technique has helped him deal with the movement on the pitch better.“He has worked hard on his technique, especially keeping his bat closer to the pad, which has helped him reduce the gap between bat and pad, making him more powerful against the moving ball,” Ashwin said. While Gill is still waiting for the big innings on home soil as Test captain, Ashwin will be hoping to make an impact in familiar conditions. He said, “Yes, he has not done wonders with the bat on home soil as a captain yet, but with this change in his batting technique, I expect him to perform strongly on home soil as well. His success in Test cricket will play a big role in redefining India’s Test team. He is a player who can lead the batting order for years to come.”Ashwin also talked about India’s spin options for the Afghanistan Test if Ravindra Jadeja is unavailable. he hopes -Kuldeep Yadav To lead the spin attack, while Washington provides handsome support.Ashwin said, “In the absence of Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav will lead the spin attack against Afghanistan. He is bowling with great rhythm and confidence. His ability to turn the ball both ways and his experience in home conditions make him a big threat.”He said, “Washington will play a beautiful supporting role. He is more defensive, a bowler who can also bat lower down the order. His accuracy and ability to bowl long spells will be useful on bad tracks. Both will be important for India’s success in this Test match.”Ashwin also said that he is keen to see whether homegrown star Harsh Dubey gets a chance to make his Test debut. He said, “However, I will have my eyes on Harsh Dubey. I am curious whether he will get a chance. We will have to wait and see whether the team goes with Manav Suthar or Harsh Dubey. But I have special interest in Dubey because he has had a good domestic season. He also had a very good IPL season. His performances work in his favour. I am looking forward to seeing him make his debut.”

'Plucked out of the jaws of death': Late Pahlaj Nihalani once revealed how a single meal kept him in hospital for 28 days

As the film industry mourns the demise of veteran producer and former CBFC chairman Pahlaj NihalaniSeveral old interviews of the outspoken filmmaker are resurfacing online. One of them is the shocking details of the health crisis that left him fighting for his life and lying in a hospital bed for almost a month. The producer, who is known for backing films like ‘Ilzaam’, ‘Aankhen’, ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’ and ‘Aag Hi Aag’, had once talked in detail about that horrific incident and how close he came to avoiding it.What started as a routine gathering at home soon turned into a nightmare. Nihalani had recalled that some members of the film unit he was associated with had arrived unexpectedly one evening. Since there was not enough food prepared at home, the group decided to order dinner from a restaurant.Typically someone who preferred home-cooked food, Nihalani reluctantly joined the others. “Chicken is the only non-vegetarian item I eat, so they urged me to join them. Out of politeness I agreed. As soon as I ate the chicken, I knew something was wrong. But others assured me it was fine,” he had shared with Bollywood Hungama. At that time, he put aside his doubts and continued eating.A few hours later, the experienced producer started feeling uneasy. Initially he thought it was a minor stomach problem and once he vomited, he tried to rest. However, the situation escalated dramatically at midnight. “At around 3 am, I vomited a lot of blood. That’s when I panicked and called my son. Luckily, he lives in the same building,” Nihalani recalled. His family immediately arranged for medical attention and took him to the hospital.Doctors admitted him to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai, where he stayed for 28 days. The experience was particularly difficult because it occurred during the pandemic, when hospital visits were heavily restricted. He had shared, “I was in Nanavati hospital for the next 28 days. Due to the pandemic no one was allowed to meet me. I spoke to my wife on video call.” For someone who had rarely faced major health problems, being in the hospital for a long period of time was physically and emotionally exhausting.

Gratitude to family and doctors

Given the ordeal, Nihalani repeatedly credited her family and medical team for helping her survive. He expressed special appreciation to Dr. Jayant Barve and the doctors who treated him from the moment he reached the hospital. He had said, “Within a few hours all my tests were done. I was lucky. Anyone with a less caring family and a less attentive medical team would have died. I have been pulled out of the clutches of death.” The producer admitted that there were moments when no one knew how the situation would unfold.Since the incident occurred at a time when COVID-19 was dominating the headlines, there was speculation about the cause of his illness. Nihalani had clearly denied those rumors and revealed that he had recovered from COVID-19 months ago. “No, it was not. I contracted Covid in April 2020. I recovered at home. It was much more serious. I was hospitalized for the first time in my life. No one knew whether I would come out alive or not.” I survived because God and my family were with me,” he had said.

A lesson that Pahlaj Nihalani never forgot

The experience left a lasting impression on the producer. Believing that the crisis was caused by the food served that evening, he considered taking legal action against the establishment in question. More importantly, he used this incident as a cautionary tale for others. He warned, “This could have been the last meal of my life. Everyone who ate that night was ill. But I suffered the most. I urge everyone to eat only home-cooked food during these difficult times.”Today, as colleagues, friends and fans remember Pahlaj Nihalani’s contribution to Indian cinema, this remarkable story stands as a testament to his resilience. Long before his passing, the creator had already survived one of the toughest battles of his life, and came out of it with renewed gratitude for family, health, and other opportunities.

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority’s planned VIP route to Noida Airport is set to boost development in key areas

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority's planned VIP route to Noida Airport is set to boost development in key areas

The Noida International Airport in Jewar is already reshaping the real estate landscape along the Yamuna Expressway. Now, the 120-metre-wide VIP route proposed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is expected to further strengthen the investment appeal of the region by improving connectivity to the airport and surrounding economic hubs. Planned as part of YEIDA’s Master Plan 2041, the approximately 15 kilometer corridor will provide a direct access route to the airport while connecting to major road networks including the Delhi-Mumbai Link Expressway. As the infrastructure around the airport continues to take shape; The new road is expected to become a major driver of property demand in many residential, commercial and industrial areas.

Better connectivity is likely to increase demand for property

Connectivity remains one of the strongest factors influencing real estate development and the proposed VIP route is expected to significantly increase accessibility in the YEIDA area. Faster travel to the airport can increase the attractiveness of areas around Noida for home buyers, investors and businesses. Sectors 22A to 22F, which are witnessing residential and institutional development, may benefit from increased interest among buyers looking for well-connected locations near a major international airport. Better infrastructure often translates into better livability, making these areas increasingly attractive to both end users and long-term investors. Also, increased connectivity can encourage the development of supporting infrastructure such as retail centres, educational institutions, health care facilities and hospitality projects, thereby creating a more self-sustaining urban ecosystem. This will help in the overall development of the surrounding areas.

Industrial and commercial sectors will benefit

The impact of the new route is not limited to residential development. Industrial areas like 24 and 24A are expected to benefit from easier movement of goods and better access to regional transport corridors. Improved logistics infrastructure could attract additional industrial investment; Strengthening the region’s role as a manufacturing and trade destination.Commercial areas including 23A to 23E are also expected to see increased activity as businesses seek locations closer to the airport. Better road connectivity often encourages corporate offices, warehouses, retail developments and service-oriented enterprises to establish presence in emerging growth corridors. The combination of airport-led development and upgraded road infrastructure could create new opportunities for commercial real estate developers and investors looking to meet future demand.

A long-term catalyst for real estate appreciation

Historically major infrastructure projects have played a significant role in increasing land values and property prices. With connectivity projects to Noida Airport moving forward simultaneously, the Yamuna Expressway area is steadily emerging as one of the most promising real estate destinations in the National Capital Region (NCR).The proposed VIP route is expected to directly benefit more than 13 areas in the Yamuna Expressway region. These include Sectors 24, 24A, 25, 22A-22F and 23A-23E, which include residential, institutional and mixed-use industrial developments. Better connectivity is likely to increase accessibility in these emerging growth areas. This VIP route is expected to improve accessibility, reduce travel bottlenecks and aid future urban expansion. This will help in real estate development as well as daily commuters in Delhi NCR. As a result, areas located along and around the corridor may experience increased buyer interest and strong long-term appreciation potential. For investors, developers and home buyers; The project represents another step in the transformation of the Yamuna Expressway belt from a developing corridor into a major residential, commercial and industrial hub supported by world-class infrastructure.(Source: Information compiled from recent Magicbricks report.)

Can a balcony garden really reduce indoor heat? Here’s what the science says

Can a balcony garden really reduce indoor heat? Here's what the science says

Plants cool their surroundings through a process called evapotranspiration, essentially, they release moisture through their leaves, and that moisture pulls heat from the surrounding air as it evaporates. On a sunny balcony in the middle of summer, this process matters more than most people realize. And the research supports it quite clearly.A StudyAn investigation of residential greenery in a tropical apartment, published in Energy & Buildings, found that the combination of potted plants and a living wall on the balcony reduced indoor air temperatures by 2.5°C, while balcony surface temperatures dropped by 5.5°C. This is not a minor difference, especially in cities like Mumbai, Chennai or Delhi where temperatures in summer regularly go above 40 degrees Celsius and air conditioners run almost all day.“The summers in India are becoming unbearable and deadly year after year. While external climatic conditions like the El Nino effect are often blamed, day-to-day lifestyle choices are ignored. A man-made health and wellness disaster, the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, is rapidly painting our cities gray and depriving us of our most basic survival need, greenery. It’s time to bring those exotic plants home. The frenzy is compounded by the many benefits of cleaning/cleansing, which do very little towards helping biodiversity while still being high on maintenance, Peeple founder and garden designer Deepti Agarwal told The Times of India. She says that tackling this issue at the level of city infrastructure is a tough task, but anyone can address the issue with smart and sustainable greenery efforts in their home gardens.Particularly for Indian households, the evidence is encouraging. A Study Greater Noida found that rooftop gardens can reduce rooftop temperatures by 2°C to 3°C in winter and 5°C to 7°C in summer.Agarwal says native and hardy species form quick, dense green cover of leaves and provide a cooling effect. “Popular exotic plants like bougainvillea are often chosen in home gardens. However, one must differentiate heat-resistant plants from plants that can reduce heat in the environment. Bougainvillea, despite being loved globally, often fails to maintain a thick, green appearance with its small and sparse leaves, thus being counter-productive to reducing urban heat,” she suggests.

Experts share some guidelines on this:

  • Selecting the right species of plants that provide shade with their canopies, cool and purify the air with their large leaf structures or create a natural green curtain can go a long way in reducing urban heat.
  • Simple garden design elements like trellis for balconies or terraces can help create a natural green wall or vertical garden, including fast-growing climbing plants like Thunbergia grandiflora, Madhumalti (Combretum indicum), Aparajita (Clitoria ternatea), Jasmine (Jasminum officinale), etc.
  • Another effective technique is layered planting which uses a combination of different plant heights in descending order. Like forests, this cascading effect helps to create overlapping canopies and filter sunlight before it reaches the bottom. For example, one might combine a tall palm or champa plant with medium flowering shrubs such as ixigorous or jasmine to create a layer of visual relief and respite from the heat.

What practical advice would you give to homeowners or apartment dwellers who want to create a balcony garden specifically to deal with the heat indoors during summer?

“Choosing native plants that have broad leaf structure, deep root systems, dark green leaf color can help cool the environment through the evaporation process. Releasing moisture, increasing air flow, blocking sun rays, thus reducing internal temperatures are some of the many benefits of creating a well-planned balcony garden,” she suggests. “The wider the leafy surface area you can add to your garden space, the better the cooling effect you can ultimately create. At the individual household level, this cooling effect can be gradually felt with the right plant mix and low-maintenance gardening materials to maintain the health and appearance of the garden.

some examples:

The founder says that for balconies, decks or terraces that receive direct sunlight, exotic foliage plants should be replaced with native flowering plants. Some examples of medium height shrubs include Ixora (Ixora coccinea), Son Champa (Magnolia champaca), Nag Champa (Plumeria pudica), Parijat (Nyctanthes arbor-tristis), Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), Kaner (Nerium oleander). Even edible plants like lemon, curry leaves, which have thick leaves, can serve the purpose. Such plants not only help in improving your indoor environment but also support biodiversity. On the other hand, for locations that receive partial direct sunlight (indirect bright light), one can opt for Areca palm (Dypsis lutescens), Raphis palm (Rhapsis excelsa), and Ficus varieties of palm trees (although most of them are non-native).So yes, a balcony garden can indeed reduce indoor heat. It will not replace an air conditioner on a 45°C afternoon. But it will reduce heat gain, reduce your cooling load, and make your home more livable during the summer. Plants, which you grow anyway, do something useful all day long.

Virat Kohli likely to miss Afghanistan ODI; Suspense continues regarding Rohit Sharma

New Delhi: Virat Kohli India is likely to miss the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury. Although the exact recovery timeline is unclear, the former India captain is expected to be unavailable for the series. It has been reliably learned that Kohli is holidaying in Europe after winning the IPL with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).Kohli was in great form in the tournament – scoring 675 runs at an average of 56.25, hitting one hundred and five fifties – and top-scored with an unbeaten 75 in the title clash against Gujarat Titans. He felt discomfort in his right hamstring while batting on 31 May and that area was extensively taped before resuming his innings.Meanwhile, uncertainty continues over Rohit Sharma’s participation. The former India captain is yet to report to the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE) for fitness assessment and clearance, putting his availability in doubt. Rohit and Hardik Pandya were selected in the squad based on fitness clearance and while the all-rounder has checked in, the former captain is yet to reach Bengaluru. It is worth noting that the men’s senior selection committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, had considered resting the two stalwarts for the three matches, but they were included due to a late change of heart. The selectors and team management had suggested trying Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order along with Shubman Gill but Rohit managed to retain his place.

How important is it for Rohit Sharma to report for fitness clearance before the series?

Interestingly, both the players are suffering from hamstring problem, which may leave two vacancies in the team. With Virat completely out and Rohit yet to get the nod, Jaiswal may be a late inclusion in the squad and the selectors may also consider including Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devdutt Padikkal or Tilak Verma in the middle-order.A decision is expected in the coming days as key decision-makers meet on June 6 to choose the squad for the upcoming white-ball tour of Ireland and England.
