Lucknow: Election data from Uttar Pradesh reveals a surprising and politically sensitive pattern: Ministers who won by the smallest margins in 2022 are associated with the highest number of voter deletions after the SIR process was completed on April 10, 2026.Constituencies like Baraut, Bilaspur, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Mainpuri and Meerut South are prominent among the current ministers who will win by a small margin in 2022. In Baraut, Minister of State Krishan Pal Malik won by a meager 315 votes, yet the voter turnout in his constituency was 157 times the margin of victory. Similarly, Baldev Singh Aulakh of Bilaspur, who won by 307 votes, had voters removed, more than 100 times his victory margin. Sitapur provided an equally glaring example – minister of state Rakesh Rathod Guru’s victory margin of just 1,253 votes, dwarfed by the 75 times larger deletion (95,032 deletions).
