To avoid clash with Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’, the release of Adivasi Shesh’s ‘Dacait’ has been postponed to April 10. Shesh explained the decision by comparing the potential success of ‘Dhurandhar’ to IPL, saying that his film provides an alternative for the audience. The love-revenge action drama, also starring Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap, will release in Telugu and Hindi.

Adivasi Shesh talks about changes in the release of ‘Dacait’

According to a PTI report, recently Adivasi Shesh shared that he had to change his plans to release the film during the Ugadi festival. Adivi Shesh said, “We were going to release it on March 19 and for the South version, the occasion of Ugadi is good, which is the Telugu New Year. But because of my friend, Aditya Dhar’s phenomenal ‘Dhurandhar’, we were not getting proper exposure.”

Adivasi Shesh also said, “We thought we should do it right and when we were assured by our distributors about the April 10 release date and the theater and screen timings, only then did we announce the (new) date.”

Comparison of ‘Dhurandhar’ with IPL

He also compared the success of ‘Dhurandhar’ with the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that some films become very big and impact the culture. “I think it (‘Dhurandhar’ running in theatres) will go on for the next three-four months and it should continue (in theatres). It’s like IPL, these things are like events which impact the entire culture,” he said. He also said, “However, there is room for different types of cinema and people who are not getting tickets for ‘Dhurandhar’ can come and watch our film ‘Dacait’.”

About ‘Dacoit’

Talking about ‘Dacait’, there are stars in the film too. Mrinal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap and is directed by Shenil Dev, making his directorial debut. The story revolves around Adivi Shesh, who is seen on the run from jail to take revenge from his ex-girlfriend, played by Mrunal Thakur.The film was shot in Telugu and Hindi and was released worldwide on 10 April.
