PMK’s Ganeshkumar A emerged victorious by securing 78201 votes, defeating DMK’s Jinji Mastan KS by a margin of 12645 votes.The 2026 assembly elections witnessed a high-profile electoral battle in the Jinji constituency. DMK re-nominated senior leader KS Mastan to capitalize on his deep local roots and ministerial record. He faced a tough challenge from the PMK candidate, A Ganeshkumar (of the AIADMK-led alliance), while the entry of TVK’s B Chandrasekaran and NTK’s Sugumar AP added a new layer of competition. In the 2021 election, KS Mastan (DMK) won with 1,09,625 votes (53.58% vote share), defeating P Rajendhiran (PMK) by a margin of 35,803 votes. In the 2016 election, KS Mastan (DMK) won with 88,440 votes (43.99% vote share), defeating AIADMK candidate A Govindasamy by 22,057 votes. Voter turnout reached 88.38%, a significant increase from 78.45% recorded in 2021. This increase is mainly attributed to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, which significantly boosted participation among first-time voters and rural laborers through updated electoral rolls.
