Ludhiana: The scorching heat wave has forced residents to stay indoors as temperatures in the industrial hub soared above 42 degrees Celsius, prompting meteorologists to issue yellow weather warnings.Clear skies and bright sunshine pushed Sunday’s maximum temperature nearly three degrees above seasonal norms. India Meteorological Department It has been warned that conditions will worsen over the next three days, with the day’s maximum temperature expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius.The heat wave has drastically altered daily life in the city, with streets becoming empty during afternoon peak hours.“As the heat increased, it became very difficult to go out,” said a local resident. Manpreet Kaur Said. “We preferred to stay indoors and go out only when unavoidable.”Along with mercury, health concerns are also increasing. Bipin Gupta, a resident of Sherpur area of the city, said families are actively protecting vulnerable relatives from heat-related illnesses.“With temperatures rising rapidly, we are making sure to stay hydrated,” Gupta said. “People are ensuring that young children do not go out during peak hours when the risk of sun injury is highest.”There was some respite from overnight conditions, with the minimum temperature settling at 26.2 degrees Celsius. Local authorities have been urged to be prepared for adverse weather conditions as a yellow alert is in place for the next 48 hours.
