State Home Minister hints at CM’s resignation
Ahead of the meeting, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said Siddaramaiah had invited ministers for breakfast to thank cabinet colleagues before stepping down.Responding to a question on whether Siddaramaiah could enter national politics or the Rajya Sabha after resigning, Parameshwara said any such decision would depend on the Congress leadership.“That’s it now, this decision has to be taken by the high command. So, at this point of time, I don’t know whether he was offered any post in Delhi or not. It is up to the high command,” he said.
Celebration has started outside Shivakumar’s residence
As news of Siddaramaiah’s decision spread, celebrations broke out outside DK Shivakumar’s residence in Bengaluru, where supporters distributed sweets in hopes of him becoming the chief minister.Amidst the increasing political turmoil, Shivakumar’s brother former MP DK Suresh also reached the residence.In Kalaburagi, Indian Youth Congress workers performed a special puja at the Sri Sharan Basaveshwara Temple, demanding that Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge be appointed deputy chief minister if Shivakumar holds the top post.
