Mumbai: The board of Tata Investment Corporation has appointed 67-year-old independent director Bahram Vakil as vice-chairman. Vakil, who joined the board in March 2025, will replace 71-year-old FN Subedar, who retires on reaching the company’s mandatory retirement age of 70 years in September 2025. The lawyer, considered close to Tata Investments chairman Noel Tata, is the co-founder of law firm AZB & Partners. His promotion as vice president, says tata group This is seen by viewers as a sign of Noel’s growing influence within the salt-to-software group. The lawyer previously served on the boards of Trent and Voltas, companies where Noel was chairman for many years. Meanwhile, Subedar has been appointed as an advisor at Tata Trusts, of which Noel is also the chairman. Virtually debt-free and profit-making, Tata Investments is one of the listed Tata entities that holds a direct stake in the holding company of the Tata group. Tata Sons. In July 2025, Vakil was reported to be under consideration for the board of Tata Sons. Over the past year, Tata Investments’ share price has seen volatility: it rose sharply, touching a 52-week high of Rs 1,184 on October 3, 2025, before falling between September 2025 and January 2026. However, on a point-by-point basis, there has been no significant change in the stock. After trading around Rs 615 last March, it closed at Rs 610 on Thursday.
