Erode: Erode North police on Thursday arrested a man for possessing banned medicines worth Rs 1 lakh for illegal sale near a private college in Erode. The arrested person has been identified as A Kalaiselvan, 30, of Muniyappan Kovil Street, Manikampalayam in Erode district. Acting on a tip-off about illegal sale of intoxicating pills near the college, a special police patrol reached the area and kept it under surveillance. During the operation, officers noticed Kalaiselvan behaving suspiciously and stopped him. During the search, 3,000 banned medicine pills were seized from him. Police registered a case against him. He was sent to judicial custody. Police said strict action will continue against those involved in such crimes.
