PM Modi to sign agreement on LPG, petro reserves in UAE

New Delhi: Two important MoUs in the areas of LPG and strategic petroleum reserves are likely to be concluded on Friday during PM Narendra Modi’s stopover in the UAE on his way to Europe, official sources said. The government said the main focus of Modi’s three-hour stay in the country will be energy security.The UAE is a major energy supplier to India, being the fourth largest source of crude oil and the second largest source of LNG and LPG. Modi will leave on Friday on a visit to five countries including Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy.According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Modi will meet UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss bilateral relations, energy cooperation and regional issues. The ministry said India and the UAE share a comprehensive strategic partnership and more than 45 lakh Indians live in the country. Modi is also likely to reiterate his condemnation of the attacks on the UAE while expressing solidarity with the President during his visit.“We have an agenda covering the full spectrum of bilateral relations with the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and other Nordic partners. In the UAE, the visit follows developments around OPEC pipelines. With the Netherlands, semiconductors are a key area of ​​cooperation and the discussions will also cover advanced semiconductor and IMEC-related topics…” said Sibi George, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs.
