Recent reports suggest that there are plans to develop the house and return it to its original state as two semi-attached houses. According to a recent report shared by The Sun, Frogmore Cottage is probably going to revert to its original design; However, the project is still under development, and cost is proving to be an issue. The cost of construction on the house was 2.4 million euros; However, to undo this, a lot of money would be invested in the project.At present, no construction work has begun and planning on how to proceed with the project is still under development. In the 12 months since it was gifted to Prince Harry and Markle, the property has been transformed into this state of disrepair. It was also reported that much of the interior design was funded by the couple themselves.

What type of work was done on Frogmore Cottage?

Originally, when the late Queen gifted the estate to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it consisted of two properties that were linked together. However, it was revealed that it underwent a complete transformation of EUR 2.4 million, which added a lot of features, as well as turning both houses into a single property. The house’s electrical wiring was completely rewired, and new fittings for new gas and water supply systems were also installed in the house. Other features installed during construction included a yoga studio, new ceiling beams and floor joists, among other things.

It would draw a line under the controversial history of Frogmore Cottage and return it to the pre-Meghan and Harry era,” the report said.The property has been vacant since 2023, when King Charles evicted Prince Harry shortly after publishing his memoir, ‘Spare’. The house is managed under Sovereign Grant due to the Frogmore House Act 1841.
