
Counting of votes will take place on May 29.
Addressing the media here, Choudhary shared details about the elections, saying they will be held in the following eight municipal corporations: Mohali, Bathinda, Abohar, Barnala, Kapurthala, Moga, Batala and Pathankot.
Additionally, elections will be held for 76 municipal councils and 21 nagar panchayats, totaling 2,019 wards in 105 municipal bodies, he said.
With the announcement of the election programme, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect with immediate effect.
Chaudhary said there are 3,672,932 registered voters for these municipal bodies, including 1,773,716 women.
Voting will take place at 3,977 stations, which will run from 8 am to 5 pm.
Sharing details of the election schedule, Choudhary said that filing of nominations will begin from May 13, with the last date for nominations set for May 16.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on May 18 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is May 19.
He said that more than 35,000 Punjab Police personnel would be deployed to ensure security in view of the elections.
