Lucknow: Election data from Uttar Pradesh reveals a surprising and politically sensitive pattern: Ministers who won by the smallest margins in 2022 are associated with the highest number of voter deletions after the SIR process was completed on April 10, 2026.Constituencies like Baraut, Bilaspur, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Mainpuri and Meerut South are prominent among the current ministers who will win by a small margin in 2022. In Baraut, Minister of State Krishan Pal Malik won by a meager 315 votes, yet the voter turnout in his constituency was 157 times the margin of victory. Similarly, Baldev Singh Aulakh of Bilaspur, who won by 307 votes, had voters removed, more than 100 times his victory margin. Sitapur provided an equally glaring example – minister of state Rakesh Rathod Guru’s victory margin of just 1,253 votes, dwarfed by the 75 times larger deletion (95,032 deletions).

Even where ministers hold cabinet rank, the same pattern persists. In Shahjahanpur, cabinet minister Suresh Kumar Khanna won by a margin of 9,313, but the difference in votes after SIR was more than 11 times. Meerut South (7,942 margin) shows about 15 times more deletions, Mainpuri (6,766 margin) and Hastinapur (7,312 margin) show more than 6 to 7 times deletions. In contrast, ministers who won by large margins appear relatively untouched. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s margin of over 1 lakh votes is only 0.32 times his margin, while Mehrouni and Khair are also below 1 times. This trend becomes even more pronounced when we compare former ministers who lost in 2022. Constituencies like Dibiyapur, Etawah, Baheri and Sirathu show that high voter deletion already existed where margins were low or declining. The case of Dibiyapur is the most serious: former minister Lakhan Singh Rajput lost by just 473 votes, but voter deletion after SIR was almost 68 times the margin of defeat. In Etawah, the loss margin of 1,662 votes resulted in 24 times more deletions. When compared with the ministers who lost in 2022, including many former veterans, the trend becomes even more pronounced. Constituencies like Dibiyapur, Etawah, Baheri and Sirathu show that high voter deletion already existed where margins were low or declining. For example, Dibiyapur is the most serious case: former minister Lakhan Singh Rajput lost by only 473 votes, but voter deletion after SIR was almost 68 times the margin of defeat. In Etawah, the loss margin of 1,662 votes resulted in 24 times more deletions. Former Basic Education Minister Satish Chandra Dwivedi had lost Etwa in 2022.Notably, high-profile defeatists like Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya (Sirathu) have seen their defeat margin reduced by 7.23 times, while others like Suresh Rana and Sangeet Som have seen their defeat margin fall between 3 to 4 times.

Antarctica has no cities, no people, and no permanent life: This is why humans can't live there forever
PC: Discovery of Antarctica

What makes the Antarctic continent different from all the other continents of our planet is that there are no permanent settlements or people living there. There are permanent inhabitants on all other continents, while there have been no permanent settlements on Antarctica at all times. People there come only temporarily for work, mostly to do some scientific research in those areas and then leave. Despite the annual presence of people, Antarctica is the only continent devoid of permanent human presence.

Permanent human population status of Antarctica: no towns, cities or indigenous settlements

Uniquely among continents where human civilization has developed for centuries or even millennia, there are no towns, cities or villages on Antarctica that are permanently inhabited. Nor is there any native population or any indication that there have been previous indigenous settlements on the continent. The key difference here is that people move to and from the continent; No one stays there indefinitely. In other words, while people inhabit Antarctica, it is not done in a sustainable manner. Rather, their residence on the continent is linked to the various tasks people perform there temporarily before moving back home.

Why are there no permanent residents in Antarctica?

There are research centers established by different countries where people conduct their research on the Antarctic environment. Some of the people at these stations include scientists and technicians who focus on climate change, ice movement, geology, atmospheric studies, and animal studies. The stations are not meant to serve as permanent homes as they are managed through a rotational system that depends on the season. There are a lot of people at the stations during the summer season when the weather is moderate. When winter comes, there are fewer people due to the harsh weather and long nights.Despite this, people on these stations are not permanent residents as they spend some time there before going back to their home nations.

Environmental conditions that prevent permanent residence

The lack of stable population is directly related to the harshness of the environment on the continent. Antarctica is the coldest land area on the planet, where temperatures can fall well below zero for extended periods. Wide areas of the southern part of the continent undergo complete darkness for several weeks or even months during the winter season.Strong wind currents and blizzards are common features that make survival in such conditions even more complicated. The interior regions of the continent are quite isolated, making access extremely challenging due to the lack of proper infrastructural development.Furthermore, Antarctica does not have sufficient natural resources to enable the establishment of a stable population. Agricultural activity of any kind is not viable on the continent, and all necessary supplies must be imported.

Scientific importance of Antarctica in the study of Earth’s climate history

Human activity in Antarctica exists primarily for scientific research. The continent provides a natural environment to study climate change, ice dynamics, and Earth’s past atmospheric conditions. Because it is largely untouched by urban development, it provides valuable data that cannot be easily obtained elsewhere.Research conducted in Antarctica contributes to the global understanding of rising sea levels, global warming and environmental changes. Scientists also study unique ecosystems adapted to extreme cold, including microorganisms and marine species. However, all this research is done under controlled conditions. The presence of humans is carefully controlled to ensure minimal environmental impact, and no activities are intended to establish permanent settlement.

'7 claims, 7 lies': Iran rejects Trump's war victory comment, raises doubts over reopening of Hormuz

Iran has launched a blistering attack on the president, warning that the Strait of Hormuz could be closed again if the United States continues its naval blockade. donald trumpThe claims accused him of spreading “seven lies an hour”.In a post on Twitter, Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf rejected Trump’s recent comments, saying: “The President of the United States made seven claims in an hour, all seven of which were false.” He said Washington “won’t win the war with these lies, and they certainly won’t get anywhere in negotiations either,” signaling Tehran’s tough stance as tensions continue over the vital waterway.“The President of the United States made seven claims in an hour, all seven of which were false. 2. He did not win the war with these lies, and they certainly will not get anywhere in negotiations either. 3. With the blockade continuing, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open. 4. Passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be conducted on the basis of “designated passage” and with “Iranian authority,” he wrote on X.The warning comes despite Iran’s announcement that it has reopened the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping following disruptions linked to the conflict involving the US, Israel and Iran-backed forces. However, officials clarified that any reopening would be conditional. Qalibaf stated bluntly that “as the blockade continues, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open,” underscoring that access to that route – through which about a fifth of the world’s oil flows – is firmly under Iranian control.Iranian officials have also indicated that passage through the strait will be strictly controlled. The ships must follow “specified routes” and work with “Iranian authorities”, suggesting Tehran intends to maintain operational control even when traffic resumes. Qalibaf stressed that the decision on whether the strait is open or closed “will be determined by the region, not by social networks,” a direct hit at Trump’s earlier claim that the waterway was “wide open.”Data from maritime tracking firms shows that ship movements are restricted to corridors requiring Iranian approval, raising doubts about how “open” the strait really is. The uncertainty has kept global energy markets on edge, even as oil prices edged lower on hopes of renewed diplomacy. For his part, Trump has said that the US blockade will continue “in its entirety” until a comprehensive agreement is secured with Iran, including its nuclear program. He also suggested that new talks could take place soon, saying that Tehran “wants to reach a deal”.

IPL game of the day: KKR’s shocking brain trick upsets GT vs Green

Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo.

The famous slogan of Kolkata Knight Riders has a simple yet powerful meaning in Bengali – We will do, we will fight, we will win. It reflects the identity of a franchise built on resilience, fight and the belief in always finding a way.

But this season, those words have felt far from reality. in six matches IPL 2026, KKR have shown glimpses of fight, moments where they looked ready to turn things around, but the last part of that slogan – winning – has completely deserted them. Five losses, one match abandoned, and just one point on the table. It has been a dramatic decline for the three-time champions.

GT vs KKR, IPL 2026: highlighted | Achievement:

From the auction table to the decisions taken on the field this season, many will be pointing fingers at the team management and captain Ajinkya Rahane.

But ultimately, KKR’s biggest problem has been much simpler than strategy or combination – they have failed to execute the fundamentals of the game.

defeat to gujarat titans It was another cruel reminder of that and showed how far the mighty 2024 champions have fallen.

And perhaps no phase summed up their season better than the final six overs in Ahmedabad, where Cameron Green fought like a lone warrior, only to be left stranded as KKR were completely defeated.

Green steps forward finally

Green entered the fight against GT with almost the weight of the entire world on his shoulders.

Fifty-six runs and just one wicket in five matches, is not what you expect from your Rs 25.2 crore contract. When you spend so much, you want to be Superman – the guy who stops the train before it derails.

To his credit, Green did exactly that with the bat.

KKR once again failed in the power play and could score only 37 runs in six overs with three wickets already falling.

He, along with Rovman Powell, scored at a strike rate that might not fit into the modern T20 game, but that was what KKR needed at that time.

And then, as soon as Powell was out, it appeared as if Green had torn off his shirt to reveal the Superman logo on his chest.

He changed gears completely. Rashid Khan had to bear the full brunt of this and he was out after scoring 33 runs in just 18 balls.

One of the areas where KKR struggled throughout the season was the middle overs with the bat. But that script changed in Ahmedabad. Kolkata scored more than 100 runs between 7 and 15 overs.

At the end of 14 overs, KKR were scoring 139 runs for 4 wickets, in which Green was playing with 69 runs in 41 balls. At that time, you expected him to go beyond 200. Instead, they somehow managed to get out after scoring just 180 runs.

So what happened in the next six overs? How did those 36 balls become the decisive fall of the night and our game of the day?

KKR’s brainfed

Before reaching Ahmedabad, let’s go back to 2022. At the Brabourne Stadium against Rajasthan Royals, KKR witnessed one of the most astonishing brainfades. Chasing 218, they were at 178 for 4 after 16 overs.

Then, out of nowhere, everything fell apart. Four wickets fell in the 17th over as the batsmen sought fame instead of playing smart cricket. Instead of looking at Yuzvendra Chahal, he tried to attack him and gave away the game.

This was negligence. And a similar strange incident came to light in Ahmedabad also.

It started with Anukul Roy trying to hit a big shot against Prasidh Krishna and throwing away his wicket. Then came Rinku Singh and you expected that the man who had once created history on the same ground would be smarter. After all, he is the vice-captain of the team.

But he also fell in almost the same manner and Rabada got his third wicket. Ramandeep Singh came forward and made a brilliant start – two sixes and a four, 17 runs off just seven balls.
And then? Another big shot. Another catch. One more wicket.

Sunil Narine followed the same script. Trying to grow up. To get it wrong. Went.

And during all this chaos, Cameron Green was standing on the other end – just watching.

Not batting. Just watching. Like everyone else at home and inside the stadium, he too had become a spectator of the carnage.

Green was on 75 off 44 balls when Anukul was out in 14.4 overs. He did not get another strike till 17.1.

Just one.

Score: 76 runs from 45.

By then the momentum had completely ended.

Green got the strike back midway through the 19th over and played three dot balls before taking a single to retain the strike for the final over. He also tried a ramp shot which went nowhere and bounced just ahead of the GT fielders.

Score: 78 out of 50.

He could score only one run on the first three balls of the last over, after which he got four lucky runs. And then he finally fell into the hands of Rasheed, who took his revenge.

Final Score: 79 out of 55.

To top it all off, Green’s innings against GT progressed like this.

  • 1-10: 6 runs
  • 11-20: 11 runs
  • 21-30: 16 runs
  • 31-40: 35 runs
  • 41-50: 10 runs
  • 51-55: 1 run

And the result was that KKR did not take the ploy and left their in-form batsman starving for runs when that could have changed everything.

“Every batsman coming out there wanted to hit a four or a six for himself. When you have a set batsman at the other end, you have to face just 2 balls in those 3.5 overs. I mean, that’s basic cricket. We heard Angkrish Raghuvanshi before the start of the game, where he said, look, we want to go back to the basics.” Anil Kumble said on JioHotstar’s post-match segment.

“Those are the basics, where you have a set batsman at the other end, let him strike. You don’t want to go out there and then hit those fours and sixes. Yes, if there’s an opportunity, do that, but give him a chance to score big, and he was set; he knew the bowlers. They were under the pump, GT bowlers, and then you let it go, and I think it was definitely a game-changing moment for GT to come back in that game, ” he said.

Although you feel sorry for Green, it was a mistake on his part too. As a set batsman, he should have taken more responsibility to finish the innings and find a way to form strikes.

Ultimately the difference of 20 to 30 runs proved costly for KKR. Despite scoring below 180, he challenged GT with the ball push them till the last over And lost with two balls remaining.

Another game was lost. Another defeat added to the tally.

And for the three-time champions, the season now seems as if they are slipping away faster than they can stop it.

When the campaign finally ends, this six-over collapse in Ahmedabad may be the moment they look back on with the most regret.
