Speaking to Free Press Journal, when Sudipto Sen was asked why he stays away from A-listers, the filmmaker spoke honestly. “The thing is, I’m a confident person, but I’m not overconfident,” he said. He explained that even though he can completely own his own film, he cannot handle the pressure that comes from making someone else’s film.According to him, big stars change the entire creative axis of a project.He further said, ‘When a big star comes, your responsibility is to make his film. You make an Akshay Kumar film, you make a Shah Rukh Khan film.” He added that under such circumstances, “directors are not allowed to be directors” – a creative compromise he is unwilling to make.His conclusion was, “I focus on my art, I focus on my story to make my own film rather than making a film for someone else.”
