The Supreme Court on Monday expressed disappointment over the way the National Testing Agency has dealt with repeated incidents of paper leaks, and said it appears that the agency has failed to learn from past controversies despite several directions issued by the court.Hearing petitions seeking reforms in the examination system, the top court sought responses from the Centre, NTA and the Central Bureau of Investigation.“Very sad, they did not learn their lesson, we set up a committee.”Also read: NEET paper leak: Pune school principal shared questions for money, CBI tells courtWhat is in the petition?In their petition, FAIMA and UDF sought directions to replace or amend the NTA and set up a more secure and autonomous mechanism for conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate (NEET UG).Supreme Court directs NTA to file affidavitNTA has also been directed to file an affidavit detailing its compliance with the recommendations made by the court-appointed monitoring committee formed after the NEET paper leak controversy.“In the meantime we direct the NTA to file an affidavit stating the position regarding the monitoring committee constituted on November 14.”Further, Justice Radhakrishna has also been asked to file an affidavit indicating the steps taken to ensure compliance with the High Powered Committee.“The affidavit will be filed within three days,” the court said.Also read: NEET paper leak case: Accused Shubham Khairnar sent to judicial custody till June 6What is the matter?The NEET-UG 2026 exam was canceled amid allegations of paper leak as investigators found evidence that a so-called “guess paper” was circulated among the candidates a few weeks before the exam.The re-examination has been scheduled for June 21 and the matter has now been listed for hearing on Friday- May 29, 2026.
