Ludhiana: Record rainfall in the state has broken the scorching summer heat, bringing temperatures down to about 13 degrees below the seasonal average and bringing much-needed relief to the region.The district emerged as the wettest place Punjab India Meteorological Department (IMD) says 32.6 mm rainfall occurred. The steady, hours-long flooding significantly improved local air quality, reduced heavy dust levels, and attracted crowds back to public parks and markets after weeks of oppressive heat.The IMD recorded the maximum temperature at only 26.4 degrees Celsius – 12.9 degrees below the seasonal norm – while the minimum temperature was 24.2 degrees Celsius. However, meteorologists warn that the relief will be short-lived. A gradual rising temperature trend is already underway, with the mercury expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius on Sunday before reaching 40 degrees Celsius by June 5.By Friday evening, the sky had largely cleared, bringing sunshine back to the city. While humidity levels increased significantly after the rains, the prevailing cool winds ensured that conditions remained comfortable at night.
