New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra shared a video on Thursday showing a group of men on a plane raising anti-TMC slogans against him and urging Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu to put him on the no-fly list.Moitra said that after the Sanghis made the video viral on social media, someone forwarded this video to them. The incident occurred after the Indigo flight from Kolkata to Delhi landed in the national capital.“Alert! I went to Delhi today on official work to attend the meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence. Was on seat 1F on 6E 719. 4-6 people boarded in a group and took a peek at me and went to the back of the plane. When the flight landed and before the doors opened they did the same and filmed it. This is not “civil anger”. This is harassment and a violation of my safety on the plane. There is no way these beasts can escape this harassment inside the airplane. @IndiGo6E Find your crew reports, name and shame them and don’t put them on any flylist @RamMNK please take action,” he posted on X.The TMC MP said, “This is the culture of BJP. Why is anyone surprised? I ignored it and went to my MTNG from the airport. Then people sent me the video, which Sanghis were making “viral”. That’s when I called it out. @IndiGo6E told me they need a formal complaint. Which I am sending.”In the video, a group of men can be heard raising slogans like “Jai Shri Ram”, “TMC thief”, “Pishi chor”, “Bhaipo chor” and “Trinamool sab chor”. Moitra was seen collecting her luggage near the front of the plane. These slogans were apparently raised targeting the TMC supremo Mamata BanerjeeOutgoing Chief Minister of West Bengal and her nephew and Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee. The Trinamool Congress, which was in power in West Bengal since 2011, failed to secure a fourth consecutive term and won 80 seats in the 294-member assembly. The BJP secured 207 seats and is set to form its first government in the state.Although Mamata Banerjee has refused to resign accusing the Election Commission of irregularities, Governor RN Ravi dissolved the Assembly on Thursday, ending the five-year tenure of the previous House.Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Kolkata on Friday to announce the BJP’s chief ministerial pick for West Bengal, ahead of the grand swearing-in ceremony the next day.Suvendu Adhikari, once a close aide of Mamata Banerjee, has emerged as the frontrunner for the post after defeating her in both the 2021 Nandigram contest and the recent elections from her Bhawanipur stronghold. The West Bengal Assembly elections were held on 23 and 29 April, while the counting of votes took place on 4 May.
