Chennai: The TVK government on Wednesday appointed all 34 ministers in-charge of 38 districts. According to a GO, Rural Development Minister N Anand has been appointed in-charge for Cuddalore and Villupuram districts; Aadhav Arjun, PWD minister for Chennai and Tiruvannamalai districts; Housing Minister P Rajkumar for Dharmapuri and Ariyalur districts; and R Nirmalkumar, power minister for Madurai and Theni districts. Other ministers appointed as in-charge of single districts include Congress ministers, S Rajesh Kumar and P Vishwanathan, and VCK minister Vanni Arasu.The order said that the minister will ensure that developmental projects in the districts are expedited and the benefits of the projects reach the beneficiaries on time. It said the minister will ensure that precautionary measures are taken during natural disasters and that communicable diseases do not spread during floods. The government had earlier appointed senior IAS officers as monitoring officers for all 38 districts to ensure that all welfare schemes reach people on time. The minister will coordinate with those officials.
