What is Vishu Kani?
Vishu Kani is a special arrangement made of several objects which is made in front of the idol of Krishna. This curated display represents positivity, prosperity and divine blessings. On the morning of Vishu, families wake up and get a first look at this arrangement, which is believed to bring divine blessings throughout the year.

Kani Konna flower, the bright yellow flower also known as the golden shower, is one of the essential items in Kani. This flower is a symbol of wealth and auspicious beginning.
Aranmula Kannadi
A small mirror, usually traditional Aranmula Kannadi, is also placed in the Vishu Kani. The mirror reflecting oneself with the kani is a reminder that prosperity also includes self-awareness and inner reflection.
Kani Vellari, aka Cucumber
The chief among the Kani, Kani Vellari, represents peace. It also represents harvest, as Vishu is widely celebrated as a harvest festival.

Akshatam
In Vishukani, raw rice and paddy are often placed in the traditional large bowl Uruli. My only prayer to God is that the family never goes hungry.
