YouTuber Markiplier reveals when fans can watch Iron Lung at home following its box office success
YouTuber Markiplier has finally shared when fans will be able to watch his horror film Iron Lung at home after its successful run in theatres. Speaking during a Cannes panel organized by Deadline, the producer revealed that the film will release exclusively on YouTube on May 31. Fans will be able to purchase and watch the film directly on the platform. Markiplier explained that YouTube seemed like the perfect place for the release as it has been his home for many years.The film first hit theaters on January 30 and soon became a surprise hit. Despite having a reported budget of only $4 million, Iron Lung grossed over $50 million worldwide. Most of the promotion came from Markiplier’s own fan base online rather than a large Hollywood-style advertising campaign. The success of the film has also sparked discussion about how online creators can release films without relying on major studios.

During the panel, Markiplier said he always felt loyal to YouTube because it helped build his career. According to him, it makes complete sense to leave the Iron Lung there. Fans who missed watching the film in theaters will now get a chance to watch it from home, just a few months after its cinema release.Iron Lung is based on the indie horror game created by David Szymanski. The story takes place in a bleak future after a horrific event “Quiet Euphoria.” It follows a prisoner trapped inside an old submarine while discovering a vast ocean made of blood. The film has scary moments mixed with psychological horror as the character gradually becomes more frightened during the mission.Markiplier did more than just act in film. He also worked as a writer, director and producer. Despite the film’s massive success, Markiplier said he does not plan to jump into another film immediately. He joked that he wanted to spend more time with his wife before starting another big project next year.
