BJP eyes historic success in Bengal as exit polls support NDA’s lead

a historical BJP Win in West Bengal; Stalin’s second term in Tamil Nadu; Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to retain power for another term; Congress wins narrowly in Kerala; and maintaining strength Puducherry. These are the broad predictions of most exit polls for the five state elections scheduled for April 29.
If these appear largely to be in line with the expected lines, there are some outliers – including one exit poll predicting that the actor Victory‘s party can come to power Tamil Nadu. Exit polls are not an exact science and often get the results wrong. But the scale of what is at stake cannot be denied: about 18% of India’s voters have voted in these five states over the past few weeks, the results of which will be announced on May 4.

The man accused of storming the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner and trying to kill US President Donald Trump took a photo of himself minutes before the attack, showing him armed with an ammunition bag, a shoulder gun holster and a sheathed knife, according to new court filings presented by prosecutors. The suspect, identified as Cole Allen, 31, of California, is accused of attempting to breach security Saturday night at the Washington Hilton, where the annual media event was underway and President Trump was present along with hundreds of reporters and officials.Authorities said Allen was wearing black pants, a black shirt and a red tie when the photo was taken in his hotel room at the same location. According to the Associated Press, he had checked into the Washington Hilton a day earlier after traveling by train across the country from California and had reportedly reserved his room weeks in advance.Prosecutors said Allen repeatedly monitored online updates tracking the president’s movements on the night of the incident, including live coverage of Trump’s arrival at the hotel. Investigators also found evidence of pre-planned emails titled ‘Apology and Explanation’, which were allegedly scheduled to be sent around 8.30 pm.“He intended to kill and fired his firearm while attempting to breach security and attack his target. Simply put, if the defendant is released pending trial, he poses an unusually grave danger to the community,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles Jones wrote in the filing.Authorities allege that Allen attempted to cross security barricades near the ballroom entrance, prompting a shootout with Secret Service agents assigned to protect the event. A Secret Service officer wearing a bullet-resistant vest was shot but survived.President Trump was not injured but security personnel escorted him out of the venue. The guests inside the ballroom were forced to take cover due to gunfire and the event was later cancelled.Court documents also said Allen had reserved a room at the Washington Hilton on April 6, before the event, suggesting the attack may have been planned over several weeks.Prosecutors further said Allen had sent a message to family members shortly before the incident in which he described himself as a ‘friendly federal killer’ and referenced complaints involving the Trump administration. Allen was arrested after being subdued by security forces and appeared in court on Monday, where he was formally charged with attempted assassination of the President as well as transportation of firearms and ammunition across state borders and discharging a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He did not file any petition. His legal counsel found that he had no prior criminal record and he was considered innocent. However, prosecutors argued that he should remain in custody due to the seriousness of the alleged attack.Trump later described the suspect as a ‘lone wolf’ and a ‘very troubled’ individual, and said such incidents often occur when public figures are highly visible.

'Judicial restraint needed': VHP attacks Allahabad HC's remarks on madrassa case

New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad On Wednesday he criticized comments made by an Allahabad High Court judge in a madrassa-related case, saying they were “factually incorrect” and risked “creating abnormality”, while insisting that “judicial restraint is necessary to maintain institutional balance.”The response came after comments by Justice Atul Sridharan, who was hearing a petition related to National Human Rights Commission The directive on alleged irregularities in madrassas raised questions about the functioning of the commission and mentioned incidents of violence against members of the Muslim community. The case before the high court pertains to the challenge against the order of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) which had directed the DG, Economic Offenses Wing (EOW), Uttar Pradesh, to investigate allegations including financial mismanagement in madrassas and submit an action taken report. At the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel sought adjournment due to the absence of the arguing counsel, and no one from the NHRC appeared as notice had not been served. While granting the adjournment, Justice Sridharan recorded a prima facie view questioning the jurisdiction of the NHRC and made wide-ranging comments on its functioning.vhp president Alok Kumar He said the comments were made “in the absence of logic” and went beyond the scope of the case, calling them inappropriate comments on the NHRC. He also pointed to the dissent filed by co-judge Justice Vivek Saran, who said he differed from the order given by Justice Sridharan, indicating divisions within the bench. The VHP said it condemned all forms of violence, including lynching, “regardless of religion”, but it objected to the selective portrayal of such incidents as targeting a particular community. “Criminals do not belong to any religion,” Kumar said. He said that such comments are wrong and socially divisive. The organization cautioned that comments on sensitive communal issues, especially when not central to the matter, could undermine institutional credibility. It urged courts to strictly adhere to judicial discipline and avoid sweeping generalizations, stressing that constitutional authorities should exercise restraint in public reasoning.

‘When belief turns into real experience,’ Kamlesh D. Patel highlights what differentiates spirituality from religion

'When belief turns into real experience,' Kamlesh D. Patel highlights what differentiates spirituality from religion
Image: facebook.com/kamlesdaji/

We live in a world where the line between religion and spirituality seems thin. Sometimes, the deeper essence of inner change also gets lost in translation. We tried to get a better perspective and thus, we came in contact with spiritual leader Kamlesh D. Patel. Affectionately called Daaji, his insights drew a clear line between merely believing and actually experiencing the divine.

What separates spirituality from religion?

“Believing in God and worshiping God comes under religion. But when after believing, we practice with devotion, experiences start arising. Internal experiences start manifesting within us. What was once external becomes internal,” said Daaji while speaking exclusively to us.He further said, “Earlier, we simply believed. Now, it is not necessary to believe because we have experienced it. Just like when you see something, a foot, a plant, the sun, the stars, you don’t have to ‘believe’ in them because you can see them with your own eyes. In the same way, the experience of the divine tells us that something divine really exists and is always with us. We can experience it whenever we want. That is spirituality, when faith turns into real experience.

further journey

The spiritual leader further explained that spirituality is not where the journey ends; It is the journey itself. Once an experience is gained, it is important to move beyond it. He said, “We must go further. People often feel satisfied after gaining experience; they think, “I have experienced this.” But there is still a gap there. One experience, or even a year of such experiences, is not enough. What comes next is important.”Highlighting this as a very subtle point, he explained with an example. “Imagine you go to live with a friend, maybe a close friend or a cousin, and you spend three or four months with them. You enjoy their hospitality and think, “My friend is wonderful, so kind, so rich.” The experience feels good. But somewhere deep inside you may also feel, ‘It would be nice if I could be like them,'” he said.“In the same way, we can experience divinity, but true peace is not found until we become divine ourselves. After the experience, there must arise within the heart a deep inspiration, a kind of restlessness that moves us to change ourselves.” It is not enough to experience divinity; We must become this,” he said.

moving towards zero

“And even after being formed, a stage comes when the mind says, “Leave this too.” The person automatically transcends that too. Ultimately, the mind experiences satisfaction, and the journey continues towards emptiness, the void. That is why our scriptures, Vedas and Upanishads say, “Neti, Neti” (not this, not that). That state cannot be described in words, because it is emptiness,” Daaji concluded, as he highlighted the true essence of spirituality.

Treasure alert: 63 Anglo-Saxon coins found in Worcestershire date back to the Viking Age world News

Treasure alert: 63 Anglo-Saxon coins found in Worcestershire linked to the Viking Age

In the parish of Bixmarsh, Worcestershire, a group of metal-detecting enthusiasts found a large hoard of 63 early medieval Anglo-Saxon coins. A preliminary report was submitted by Go Detecting (Midlands) Ltd, and following this, Worcestershire Archeology completed a comprehensive survey and excavation of the site. Most of the coins were minted during the reign of King Burgred of Mercia (AD 852–874) and represent a very interesting time period in the history of England, according to a study published by. Worcestershire County Council. Historians believe that these coins were deliberately buried sometime between 871 and 874 AD to protect the treasure from invasion by Viking armies. The discovery of this hoard is unprecedented, as it provides archaeological evidence for the circulation of money within a defined area of England during the Anglo-Saxon period. The discovery of this hoard also highlights the importance of following standards and reporting rules for archaeologists to protect and preserve Britain’s cultural heritage.

63 silver coins were found from king burgerA rare find in Worcestershire marks the reign of

Containing 63 silver coins, the Bickmarsh hoard is considered one of the most important discoveries of wealth in the history of Worcestershire. Before this discovery, there were less than 100 coins recorded in Worcestershire, dating between 475 AD and 1000 AD. Most of the coins recovered were minted during the reign of King Berfred of Mercia and are recorded in both Historic England and Worcestershire City Council records, suggesting that they were likely deposited at the height of the Viking threat to the Kingdom of Mercia.

Impact of agricultural activity on hoarding

King Burgred of Mercia ruled from 852 AD to 874 AD. They faced ongoing warfare and conflict with the ‘Great Heathen Army’, which invaded England in 865 AD and continued to occupy large parts of England until 878 AD. The geographical location of the burial (circa AD 871–874 AD) coincides with the movement of Viking armies throughout the Midlands. The pattern of recovery of the coins suggests that the treasure may have been hidden in a layer of topsoil, before later agricultural activity caused the original, shallow context of the coins to be disturbed and mixed with the deeper topsoil.

Were the coins originally wrapped?

Both professional archaeologists and amateur metal-detector enthusiasts worked together to carry out this excavation. After the first report, a geophysical survey was conducted and then the team conducted targeted excavations. While the team found no structural evidence, 35 small pieces of lead sheet were found around the coins. Experts are investigating whether they are connected to the Bickmarsh Hoard, as some historical hoards were wrapped in lead.

The main fight remains between the ruling NDA led by the AINRC-BJP alliance and the Congress-DMK led opposition alliance, while Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam has added a third dimension in several constituencies.Note: Exit polls are only predictions based on surveys and may prove to be completely wrong on the results day on May 4.People Pulse’s exit poll projections indicate a slight lead for the NDA, with it projected to get 16-19 seats in the 30-member House, while the Congress-led alliance is expected to get 10-12 seats. The Congress-led alliance is projected to get 6-10 seats, while the survey does not indicate a clear projection for Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam or other smaller parties.According to Kamakhya Analytics, the NDA is expected to get 17-24 seats, while the opposition Congress-DMK alliance is likely to get 4-7 seats. TVK is projected to make a limited entry with 1-2 seats, while other parties may win 0-1 seat, indicating a more competitive multi-cornered field.Jan Ki Baat Voter Connect’s exit poll projections show that there will be a tough contest in Puducherry, with the NDA projected to win 15-17 seats in the 30-member assembly. The Congress-led alliance is trailing on 11-13 seats, indicating a competitive bipolar contest in the Union Territory. Several key constituencies such as Mangalam, Thattanchavady, Mannadipet, Ozhukarai and Lospet witnessed high-profile contests, while seats such as Osudu, Bahaur and Nettapakkam saw voting levels exceed 93 per cent, indicating strong voter mobilization across the Union Territory.Voting for the 30-member Assembly in Puducherry concluded on April 29 and counting of votes will take place on May 4.
