Raghav Chadha joined AAP during the anti-corruption movement under his leadership in 2011–12.Several AAP Rajya Sabha MPs quit the party on Friday and decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. Chadha also claimed that almost two-thirds of AAP’s Rajya Sabha members have resigned and they will work as a separate faction.According to the announcement, Chadha said the group of MPs had invoked constitutional provisions to merge with the BJP. “We have decided that we, two-thirds of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha, will invoke the provisions of the Constitution of India and merge ourselves with the BJP,” he said at a press conference at the Constitution Club in Delhi.This development has come to light at a time when Chadha termed majority of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs leaving the party as a collective decision. When announcing the move he also described himself as “the right man in the wrong party”.The reported exodus includes several prominent names like Swati Maliwal, cricketer-turned-Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh, Sandeep Pathak, Rajinder Gupta and Vikramjit Singh Sawhney, indicating a significant political development within the parliamentary wing of the AAP.
