In a candid conversation with Sadhguru on his YouTube channel, the actor shared his concerns, as well as sought advice about raising children in today’s world.“I’m the mother of a three-and-a-half-year-old boy and he’s the joy of my life. But I’m worried all the time. My father once asked me what it’s like to be a mother, and I said it’s a combination of joy and worry. I’m constantly thinking – am I a good mother? Am I saying the right things?” He said.
‘Children learn life from you’
Alia asked for guidance, “What advice would you give me or any parent today, because babies are so beautiful, curious, and they learn life through you in the first few years?”Sadhguru responded with humor by asking, “What if the parents are not good parents?” – Due to which the actor got nervous.“I don’t think you can take the worry out of it. You have to admit,” Alia said.
‘Who should be the advisor for life?’
Sharing his perspective, Sadhguru said, “When you have a child, the first thing you do is give up the idea that you have to teach them something.”As the conversation turned to Raha, she asked, “Between you and your three-and-a-half-year-old child—what’s his name?”“Raha,” Aaliya replied.“Between you and him, who is happier?” he asked. “That,” Aaliya replied.“Then who should be the advisor for life?” He continued. “That,” Alia smiled, when Sadhguru concluded, “then what do you have to teach? You must see, listen and observe a child – they are much closer to life than you are.”
‘He is also afraid of failure’
Alia also talked about the fear of failure and revealed that her younger daughter also already shows signs of it.“We are all afraid of failure. Even now, as my daughter is growing up, she always wants to win. If someone else comes first, she will say they cheated. I told him – no, they came first,” he said. There were also light moments in the conversation, with Sadhguru jokingly saying, “I’ll cry on your shoulder,” to which Alia laughed and said, “Please do, I think it’s very healthy to cry.”When he disagreed, she jokingly said, “Oh no, please don’t tell me that!”Alia and her husband Ranbir Kapoor welcomed their daughter Raha in 2022.
