Sakti Superintendent of Police Prafulla Thakur said, “Nine workers have died and 15 have been injured.” He said the explosion occurred in the afternoon.The SP further said that immediately after the blast, local administration and police teams reached the spot and rescue operations were immediately launched to search for survivors.According to police, three victims died on the spot, while the others died in hospitals. The injured workers have also been admitted to hospitals in neighboring Raigarh district for treatment.Raigarh SDM, Mahesh Sharma said that the exact cause of the accident is being investigated. He said, “A heart-wrenching incident has taken place at the Vedanta Power Plant today, in which some employees have been injured and are undergoing treatment. Our investigation is ongoing.”
