Bribery scandal exposed: ASI caught taking bribe of Rs 5,000 in land dispute; The complainant exposed the corrupt functioning of the police

Bokaro:AOn Tuesday, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at Balidih police station in Bokaro was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 to investigate a land dispute case.Binod Kumar, Additional SP, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Dhanbad, said, “The accused has been identified as Mohammad Yakub Ansari (56), who was arrested by the ACB in the presence of a magistrate and two independent witnesses.”According to ACB officials, the complainant had purchased 13 decimal land in Makhdumpur area under Balidih police station limits through a registered sale deed in 2009. They later approached the police and the district administration, accusing some people of land grabbing and threatening them.The investigation of the case was handed over to ASI Ansari. During the investigation, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 as “expenses” to visit and investigate the site. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and demanded action against the police officer.Following the complaint, the Bureau conducted a verification exercise and found the allegation to be true.
