Cristiano Ronaldo’s five UCL gesture goes viral after Al Ahly fans sneer at Asian title

Former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo was seen responding to Al Ahly fans with five UCL titles after his team’s 2-0 win over league rivals Al Ahly. In the match, which had moments of controversy, Ronaldo scored the 970th goal of his career to seal the win, putting his team eight points ahead of second-placed Al Hilal.

After the game, while Ronaldo was attending to his post-match media duties, Al Ahly fans He and his club began to be mocked for their lack of major trophies. Al Ahly recently defeated Japanese side Machida Zelwiya 1–0 after extra time to clinch their second AFC Champions League Elite title. In contrast, Ronaldo’s club, Al Nassr, is still without a trophy since his arrival in 2023.

However, Ronaldo immediately responded to the chants by showing five fingers with a hand gesture and shouting “Five UCLs” while smiling. In a video going viral on social media, he was heard saying, “I have five.”

“I have five,” he said, referring to his UEFA Champions League titles. Ronaldo was part of the Real Madrid team that won three Champions League titles between 2016 and 2019. He won four Champions League titles with Real Madrid, while winning one with Manchester United.

The moment immediately sparked widespread reactions online. Some fans defended Ronaldo and mocked Al Ahly supporters for targeting the Portuguese star, while others criticized the gesture, calling it unnecessary provocation. The incident added another layer of drama to the already heated rivalry between the clubs.

The controversy was fueled by Al Ahly defender and Turkish international Merih Demirel, who reportedly accused Al Nassr of influencing refereeing decisions during their pursuit of a first league title since the 2018/19 season. His frustration grew after Al Nassr winger Kingsley Coman only received a yellow card for a heavy challenge, which led to a tense argument between players and staff on the pitch, with about 10 players involved in a brief scuffle.

Demirel also brought his AFC Champions League medal to the stadium before kick-off and was seen displaying it around the field. He later posted on social media: “For the first time, there is a Champions League medal in their stadium.”

Ronaldo was also seen celebrating in front of English striker Ivan Toney, their first notable interaction on the field since Toney had previously questioned the integrity of Saudi umpiring, making the post-match atmosphere more tense. Al Nassr are now just two points away from the Saudi Pro League title. They will play the next two matches away from home in the league before hosting title rivals Al Hilal.

IPL 2026 Playoff Scenario: What Mumbai Indians need to do and why time is running out cricket news

IPL 2026 Playoff Scenario: What Mumbai Indians need to do and why time is running out
Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2026 playoff hopes have been dashed after their six-wicket defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Despite Ryan Rickelton’s brilliant 123*, MI’s bowling problems persist, leaving them with a tough task of winning almost all the remaining matches. Their poor net run rate makes qualification more complicated, requiring dominant wins. With 2 wins (4 points) in 8 games and an NRR of -0.784, they are far away from the pack.

A night when 243 should have been enough, Mumbai Indians Their IPL 2026 playoff hopes may be out of reach. Despite Ryan Rickelton’s explosive 123* at the Wankhede to help Mumbai reach the huge score, they lost to a relentless effort by Sunrisers Hyderabad. The six-wicket defeat, their sixth defeat of the season, leaves MI at the bottom, with almost a must-win situation in every remaining game. One thing is clear that Mumbai Indians are already in deep trouble. With 2 wins (4 points) in 8 games and an NRR of -0.784, they are far from the pack, and with IPL 2026 business fast approaching, the margin for error is almost gone.

IPL 2026 Playoff Qualification Benchmark

Historically, and even in the current table context:

  • 14 points (7 wins) is the minimum realistic playoff cutoff
  • 16 points (8 wins) is safe zone

There has been only one exception to this trend, when in IPL 2019, SRH qualified for the playoffs by finishing fourth with 12 points. This is the only instance of a team qualifying with fewer than 14 points, and also the only case of a team having more losses than wins in the playoffs.

Here’s what MI needs to qualify for IPL 2026

  • To reach 14 points – MI need 5 wins out of 6
  • To reach 16 points – MI need 6 wins out of 6

This essentially means another defeat, and MI are almost out of the playoff race.Mumbai Indians have lost 6 of their 8 matches, not by very small margins. Their defeat highlighted recurring issues, particularly with the ball. Conceding scores of 200+ has become a pattern which has affected the results as well as their net run rates. The powerplay and death bowling are leaking a lot and MI has not been able to achieve the winning streak. If this continues then MI will not be able to reach even close to the qualification mark. Even a better comeback of 3 wins in the remaining 6 games will take them to only 10 points. Four wins? 12 points – still less. MI now needs near-perfect performances for the remainder of IPL 2026.

Big problem: net run rate

Even if MI reaches 14 points: Their -0.784 NRR is one of the worst in IPL 2026Most of the top teams (RCB, PBKS, SRH, RR) have strong positive NRR. So MI won’t just need a win, they need a big win. Close finish will not help as they will have to correct NRR aggressively

Upcoming IPL 2026 fixtures for Mumbai Indians

If the calculations weren’t difficult enough, the schedule makes it even tougher. Mumbai Indians face three top-four teams and several direct rivals.

  • vs Chennai Super Kings (away) – Tough Chepauk Test; Slightly balanced but circumstances will be in CSK’s favor
  • vs Lucknow Super Giants (Home) – Must win against direct opponent
  • vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (away) – Against an in-form team; MI will start as underdogs
  • vs Punjab Kings (away) – Table-toppers; The hardest stability remains
  • vs Kolkata Knight Riders (away) – Another win against lower level opposition
  • vs Rajasthan Royals (home) – Top four teams; Virtual knockout can happen

Even if MI wins against CSK, LSG and KKR, they still need 2 more wins against the top teams, this is the challenge. As Kieron Pollard indicated after SRH’s defeat on Wednesday, Mumbai Indians are not out of the race for the IPL 2026 playoffs, but they are hanging on by a thread. From here, it will no longer be about building momentum or experimenting further with combinations, but rather it will be about winning almost every game and hoping to outpace even the direct competitors.

IPL 2026, GT vs RCB Preview: Gujarat Titans hope to erase past mistakes against red-hot RCB

Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bangalore are at two extremes when it comes to approaching T20 matches. RCB have adapted to the new batting requirements of T20 cricket, with the entire line-up brimming with batting firepower. The arrangement of their batting order led them to the Indian Premier League title last season, where they looked equally adept at setting targets and chasing the game.

In RCB, the number 8 batsman is Krunal Pandya, who is a skilled ball striker in T20 cricket and is capable of finishing the game. In sharp contrast, GT’s number 8 is Rashid Khan. While you are a skilled ball striker yourself, you wouldn’t put your money on Rashid finishing the game.

This difference is also visible in the rest of the middle order players. RCB, loaded with Jitesh Sharma, Tim David and Romario Shepherd, is ready to give a tough fight if the top order does not produce the desired results on any given day.

GT’s side has Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia and Jason Holder, who has been criticized for his batting this season.

Although the contradictions are profound, the similarities between the two sides are also quite obvious. RCB have relied on their masters of swing in the powerplay. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood have been his favorite players. Ask Delhi Capitals, they were blown out of water Just days after recording the highest score in the tournament this season.

Similarly, Gujarat have relied on Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj, who have bowled some brilliant bowling this season.

blown up in bengaluru

But Gujarat’s bowling can only do so much. In their first match this season against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, GT lost despite a century from their opener Sai Sudarshan. Sudarshan received praise from a select section of experts, but in reality, his century at a strike rate of 172 did Gujarat more harm than good.

Sudarshan opened the innings for GT while others struggled to score. The left-handed batsman played almost half the balls in the 20 overs, but hardly attacked in the last 15 balls. Result: GT scored 205 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

In response, rcb lost badly Right from the beginning of their pursuit. Devdutt Padikkal, who came at number three, started his innings by hitting a six. He was out even while trying to hit a six, playing less than half of Sudarshan’s balls.

He was also an anchor in RCB’s innings. Kohli, who was dismissed early in the game by Washington Sundar, scored 81 runs in just 44 balls, helping the hosts successfully chase the target in less than 17 overs.

And that’s the difference between the two sides in this version of the game.

Despite that kind of cricket, Gujarat have won four of their eight matches. The teams they have defeated this season are Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.

The four teams that form the bottom half of the table. They would have lost against DC, but An epic brain fade by David Miller Saved him from being humiliated in that game.

If Gujarat has to stand a chance against RCB today, it will have to tighten its belt and play in a modern manner.

GT vs RCB: Team News

Gujarat are coming off a win against CSK, a win which was dictated by their incredible powerplay bowling. Kagiso Rabada performed brilliantly in Chennai and laid the foundation for a big win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. GT famously left Krishna out of that game, and chances are they won’t mess with it.

Captain Shubman Gill was a bit critical about the team’s failure to close out the game with the ball, and it will be interesting to see how they do in their home games.

For RCB, Phil Salt Jacob Bethel is expected to miss another game and get another shot at the starting spot. Bethel hit some lofty shots against DC in the last match, but his cameo was cut short by a sensational catch by T Natarajan in New Delhi.

GT vs RCB: Pitch conditions

This match is going to be played on the same pitch where RCB won the title last year. This is a prime wicket with red soil, the kind of pitch where fast bowlers have done really well this season.

With two in-form attacks, this match could turn into a powerplay shootout between the two teams. On one side, there is Rabada and Siraj, and on the other, there is Bhuvneshwar and Hazlewood, who should bring attractive edge to the game.

The T20 World Cup 2026 saw a fierce competition between bat and ball on the red clay pitches of Ahmedabad. A similar game should be expected on Thursday.

GT vs RCB: Predicted Playing XI

GT: Sai Sudarshan, Shubman Gill (captain), Jos Buttler (wicketkeeper), Shahrukh Khan, Washington Sundar, Jason Holder, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Manav Suthar.

Effect Sub: Arshad Khan

RCB: Virat Kohli, Jacob Bethel, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (c), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam Dar.

IPL 2026: Hardik Pandya takes a dig at Mumbai Indians fans for supporting opponents after SRH defeat

Hardik Pandya has now shifted his focus from teammates to the stands and called on Mumbai Indians fans to support the opposition teams during IPL 2026. The MI captain’s comments come after another disappointing defeat, this time against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede.

MI lost despite a huge score of 243 runs. With only two wins from eight matches, pushing them to ninth place in the table. Speaking after the game, Hardik reflected not only on the performance but also the support from the crowd.

MI vs SRH, IPL 2026: highlight | Achievement:

Hardik said, “Yes, I think we have not given them much opportunity to support us. But yes, they have been brilliant. They have been loyal. They have been brilliant. Yes, sometimes it hurts when the opposition team comes and they start chanting our name. We need to entertain them more to make sure that we get that love and faith from them.”

The comments came especially in a season where MI have already faced internal and external criticism over their performances.

Why did Hardik Pandya call MI fans?

There is disappointment in what Hardik said, but there is also some honesty.

MI has not played like the team in charge at the Wankhede this season. When the results do not come, the mood of the stand changes. It seemed that this is what Hardik was achieving. The noise from the opposing teams has become louder than usual and it has not gone unnoticed.

The match against Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier this season is a good example of this. The chants were clear, and for a team like MI, this is not something you expect at home.

How SRH beat MI at home

Mumbai Indians looked in control for most of the first innings.

Ryan Rickelton played a brilliant inningsRemained unbeaten on 123 runs. This was the kind of innings that should have sealed victory. Will Jacques supported him by scoring 42 runs and Hardik quickly added 30 runs.

But still, it felt as if MI had given up a few runs. On a ground like Wankhede and against a batting team like SRH, 243 is big but not always safe.

This proved to be true.

SRH did not hesitate. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma set the tempo early on, and once the chase started, MI never really pulled it back. Heinrich Klaasen ensured there was no slump in the middle overs.

What will worry Mumbai Indians most is how flat their bowling is looking. No real success was achieved, no pressure was exerted. Even Jasprit Bumrah did not get any wicket and gave away 54 runs, ending the night.

SRH chased 244 without panic, the highest successful chase recorded at the venue.

MI vs SRH: Ryan Rickelton troubles SRH bowlers, hits first IPL century

South Africa’s Ryan Rickelton did not know whether he would play against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, April 29. He was included in the team due to injury to his compatriot Quinton de Kock. After being included in the squad, Rickelton made the most of the opportunity and played his best innings in the Indian Premier League.

As Mumbai look to end their poor performance in the tournament, Rickelton scored a sensational century, his first. IPLIn just 44 balls, that helped him lay the foundation for a huge total on Wednesday. The Wankhede Stadium witnessed some ridiculous hitting from the left-handed batsman, also known as Junior Quinton de Kock.

IPL 2026, MI vs SRH Updates | Achievement:

The batsman hit 8 fours and 7 sixes during his century in 44 balls, which is the fastest among Mumbai Indians batsmen in the history of IPL. Rickelton broke the record of Sanath Jayasuriya, who reached his milestone in just 45 balls in the inaugural edition of the tournament.

Fastest century for MI

  • 44 – Ryan Rickelton vs SRH, Wankhede, 2026
  • 45 – Sanath Jayasuriya vs CSK, Wankhede, 2008
  • 45 – Tilak Verma vs GT, Ahmedabad, 2026
  • 47 – Cameron Green vs SRH, Wankhede, 2023
  • 49 – Suryakumar vs GT, Wankhede, 2023

Rickelton kept things quite simple at Wankhede. He used the crease very well and played shots all around the stadium, which caused problems to SRH. He dominated the leg side and pulled the ball with great efficiency.

He also hit two sixes down the ground against Harsh Dubey, who was unlucky enough to face the sword against the left-handed batsman. Whenever the SRH bowlers tried to correct their lines and deceive them with slower balls, Rickelton had the presence of mind to slap the ball through the off side.

The result was a devastating attack on the SRH bowlers, who had nothing for the batsman today. As a result, Mumbai crossed the 180-run mark in the 15th over itself and set themselves up for a huge score.

SRH’s bowlers had performed well in the last four IPL matches, but they had no answer to Rickelton’s attack on Wednesday. The closest they came to taking his wicket was in the first half of the innings, when Rickelton almost had Prafulla Hinge caught at short fine leg. However, Prafulla failed to anticipate the ball and did not come forward enough to complete the catch.

Thanks to Rickelton’s innings, Mumbai Indians scored 243 runs at the Wankhede Stadium. At the time of writing, this is the highest score by a Mumbai side in this season of the Indian Premier League.

‘Beating Australia’s best fast bowlers’: Pathan surprised by Suryavanshi’s bold approach. cricket news

'Beating Australia's best fast bowlers': Pathan surprised by Suryavanshi's bold approach
Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Photo Credit: IPL)

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has taken IPL 2026 by storm by playing fearless cricket against some of the best bowlers in the world and currently leads the race for the Orange Cap with 400 runs. Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan He believes Kishore’s courageous approach signals an exciting change in Indian cricket, where young players are no longer intimidated by big names or prestige.Australian pacers have long been known for their dominance based on pace, accuracy and consistently tough lengths. But Suryavanshi has approached them with remarkable confidence, overcoming the likes of Josh Hazlewood And pat cummins Right from the beginning. From hitting a six off the first ball of Jasprit Bumrah, to facing Trent Boult, and the same audacity against Cummins and then dismissing Hazlewood with sequences of 4, 4, 4, 6 in an over, Suryavanshi has shown no hesitation in taking on some of the best bowlers of the modern era.

Watch

James Hopes reacts after PBKS defeat, calls it a ‘reality check’

Pathan’s comments come amid a wave of emerging talents who are making immediate impacts at the highest level, reflecting a mindset where age and experience are no longer a barrier.“It’s an exciting time for Indian cricket. The way they play fearless cricket, and you know, they don’t worry about anything. They don’t worry about getting out. They don’t worry about, you know, who is bowling in front of them. A 15-year-old boy (Suryavanshi) goes and beats one of the best fast bowlers in Australia. So, you know, there is no better side in cricket at the moment, especially the Indian side. From,” Pathan told IANS. At the EUT20 Belgium jersey launch event. And Suryavanshi is not just attacking top bowlers – he is defying prestige. Compared to the roll call of elite names, there is no one watching, no respect for lineage, just immediate intent. Bhuvneshwar Kumar got a four on his very first ball, while Arshdeep Singh got 6, 4, 4 runs in his very first over. Even Sunil Narine’s art and Siraj’s pace didn’t stop them – both were outclassed almost instantly. And when Ferguson came into pace on the second night, Suryavanshi fell behind in his early bursts at 4, 4, 6.And overall, the readings look even more impressive than any other bowler he has faced in the IPL so far. Suryavanshi has been unable to break the shackles against only Mohsin Khan and Narine, while Rashid Khan and Prasidh Krishna have put in a more balanced performance against the Young Turks.
