Local people allege that they got wind of the incident and informed the Divisional Engineer of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), but received no response. There is no information about any casualty.GMC Mayor Mrigen Saraniya came to the spot to take stock of the situation. “While the plains are facing severe waterlogging due to the heavy rains that have lashed the city in recent times, people living in the hilly areas are being equally affected as they are facing landslides. We urge residents to remain vigilant, as such incidents are likely to recur, especially where hills have been eroded,” he said.According to the latest forecast released by the Indian Meteorological Department, the city recorded 20.3 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, indicating continuation of pre-monsoon activity over the region. Edoardo Mortara: Exclusive Interview: Edoardo Mortara shines for Mahindra Racing this season, says “it’s important to keep your feet on the ground” | Formula-E News

Exclusive Interview: Edoardo Mortara shines for Mahindra Racing this season, says
Edoardo Mortara is second in the Formula E drivers’ standings. (Image credit: Instagram)

Edoardo Mortara has been performing tremendously since his explosive start to the season. Mahindra Racing has delivered a top-notch performance so far and currently leads the championship from the front row, just eleven points behind Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein. After finishing in the top six in the last five races and achieving two podiums in them, one in Mexico City and the other in Jeddah, his consistency on the track makes the Swiss racer dominant this season. Needless to say, Mortara is proving that he is no easy mortal among his competitors as he keeps his eyes on the prize. In an exclusive interview with TimesofIndia.com, Mortara talks about his success so far and what lies behind such grit and determination. He also talked about his other interests in life and his thoughts on retirement, which is not on his mind right now. Part:With two back-to-back poles and two podiums in just five races, you’re already on a roll this season. You are also close to leading the championship. Describe the feeling.First of all, I’m very happy that we started the season strong. It’s always good to compete at the front and be able to score good points, not only for me but also for the team.Good results encourage everyone in the team. For me personally, this is very rewarding because it proves that the entire team, including myself, is going in the right direction with the development that we have been implementing for the last three years. You missed the title twice. What’s the outlook for this season? Are we already talking a Season 12 winner? We’ve only done five races, so it’s still a very long season. As I said, we have started quite strong, but most of the race is still ahead of us. In a championship like Formula E, it is very important to keep your feet on the ground and try to make the most of each race weekend. What matters is being among the top guys at the end of the season, not after five races.Have you made significant changes to your driving style or work behind the scenes, the results of which are now evident on the track? As drivers, we are always trying to maximize the performance of the package we are driving. It is very important to adapt your driving style based on what you have available to get the most out of it. So every year, every race, every corner, I’m trying to adapt to a specific driving style rather than stick to it. To be a good racing driver, you have to be able to adapt to whatever is given to you.How is Mahindra Racing treating you as a driver? How much credit goes to the team when a driver shines on the track? In motorsport, the package has a huge impact on the results you achieve. Mahindra Racing has been treating me well, especially this season because we have been able to perform very strongly. Without a strong car and a strong team, it is impossible for a driver to shine. And often the opposite is also true: When the package isn’t the best, it becomes difficult for the driver to shine as well. You are one year younger than 40. How long do you aim to continue competing, and what do you want to do after retirement? For me, it’s not really about age, it’s about performance. I still feel like I’m competing at a very high level and I think the results reflect that. What’s important for me is to keep training the way I am and make sure my motivation remains high. If I can do those things then I am confident that I will continue to perform well.I haven’t really thought about retirement yet because I am very involved in the Mahindra Racing project, and at the moment I would be most happy to be successful with the team. What do you like to do when you’re not running? When I’m not racing, I spend a lot of time training; It’s a big part of my life outside of racing. I am also involved in some other projects. Over the past few years, I’ve been doing a little work in real estate, and I also have a background in finance, so I stay pretty busy even when I’m off the track. Also read: Antonio Felix da Costa and Mitch Evans present the Formula E Oscars, awards for Funniest Driver, Toughest Overtake and more

With pride, excitement and nostalgia in his voice, he opened up to a question about what makes him talk about Yamaha with such enthusiasm. “I have been using Yamaha musical instruments since the age of 12. After my father’s death, my mother used to rent Yamaha musical instruments to run the household”. He especially liked playing the portable piano because he could not buy one for a long time as it was quite expensive then. Gradually, as Rahman’s life got better with his mother’s dedication to music and her hard work and extraordinary skills, he was able to not only buy several of them for his KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, but also keep a collection of them to create music at every possible stage of his life.“What started as a wish is now a reality.” However, his preference for Yamaha is due to the “high quality and reliability” of its equipment more than anything else.To a question on how Yamaha is strategizing its plans for music lovers in India in the future, Yamamoto Taketoshi, Managing Director, Yamaha Music India, replied, “Since music is at the core of Yamaha’s philosophy, India’s rich musical heritage deserves global recognition.” Through our ‘Made in India’ initiative and our collaboration with AR Rahman, we aim to inspire the next generation of musicians and expand structured music education across India. But what are your plans? To which Ryoji Maruyama, sales unit head, said, “Our mission goes beyond instruments. You will soon hear a lot of good news from us for India,” he said with a meaningful smile. It is interesting to know that Yamaha already runs 500 music schools in India and is going to expand more. It belongs to Yamaha’s “Music School Project”.On what kind of legacy Rehman wants to leave, he reiterated that Yamaha’s ‘Made in India’ focus is making quality equipment more accessible. “This initiative is already benefiting the young talents being developed at my own KM Music Conservatory and The Sunshine Orchestra. If we continue to mentor young artists and strengthen music education, Indian musicians can lead on the global stage.”Now he does not say that sound engineers or new musicians, those who play musical instruments will have to run for jobs. “Together, we are creating a solid background for them,” he said with a twinkle of pride in his voice.

Long seasonal infection periods like this year are bad for pets

Long seasonal infection periods like this year are bad for pets
As the weather continues to fluctuate between extremes, pet owners need to remain vigilant. Veterinarians recommend paying attention to distress signs such as reduced appetite, low energy, or skin irritation. To keep pets healthy, make sure they have access to fresh water, and avoid walking them during the hottest parts of the day.

This year, what we call seasonal change is taking longer than usual. Winter is definitely gone, but we don’t know whether summer has arrived or not. We feel heat and cold depending on the time of day or the place we are. Indoor office ACs have some of us reaching for shawls or light jackets, while being out on the street makes us sweat – leading to cold, body aches. But this strange weather affects pets more. Their body is much more adapted to nature than ours. This is also the time when you may notice your dog laying on the floor for a little longer than usual. Your cat is abandoning his favorite sunny window perch. The water bowls are emptying rapidly. But unlike us, pets don’t complain. They adapt. And sometimes, they endure. Kolkata-based veterinarian Dr. Krishnau Ghosh suggests ways to pay attention to the symptoms of diseases during seasonal infections and talks about preventive steps to be taken.

Signs to look out for…

  1. Loss of appetite or reduced water intake: If a pet suddenly eats less or stops eating, it may be a sign of fever, infection, gastric upset, kidney problems or heat stress.
  2. Vomiting, diarrhea or excessive salivation: Frequent vomiting, loose stools or drooling may indicate gastroenteritis, viral infection (parvo, distemper), food intolerance or heat exhaustion.
  3. Drowsiness, weakness or excessive sleepiness: Unusual lethargy, reluctance to walk/play, or weakness may indicate fever, dehydration, metabolic disorders, or systemic infection.
  4. Skin problems, itching, redness, hair fall: Persistent scratching, licking of paws, foul odor, redness, rashes or hair loss usually indicate fungal infection, bacterial dermatitis, tick/flea allergy, which is very common in hot humid weather.
  5. Excessive panting or difficulty breathing: Excessive panting even while resting, rapid breathing, or discomfort in hot weather may indicate heat stroke or heat stress, which requires immediate attention.
  6. Changes in urination or drinking behavior: Very frequent urination, difficulty urinating, very dark urine, or drinking unusually high or low amounts of water may be a sign of a urinary infection, kidney strain, dehydration, or metabolic imbalance.
  7. Fever, shivering or abnormal body temperature: Hot ears, shivering or sudden weakness may indicate infection or systemic disease.
  8. Eye or nose discharge, coughing or sneezing: May be a sign of respiratory infection, viral disease or allergies, which can flare up during weather changes.
summer pet care

Seasonal changes are affecting pets more than humans. Provide plenty of water and a cool environment (Image: iStock)

Now let’s come to prevention

You can prevent heat stroke and dehydration by always providing clean drinking water, keeping pets in a cool, well-ventilated area, and avoiding walks between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Never leave pets inside parked cars. Skin related problems also increase at the beginning of summer. Ticks, fleas, fungal and bacterial skin infections are very common in March-April. Regular care and timely anti-tick treatment is important. Viral and stomach infections increase during seasonal changes, and seasonal infections can lower immunity in our pets, leading to vomiting, diarrhea, parvo, distemper, etc. Keep vaccinations up to date and avoid any sudden changes in diet.Maintaining a proper diet with good moisture is essential: include wet food or a balanced home diet with adequate water content. Good hydration helps prevent kidney, urinary and digestive problems. And the most important part is to provide a comfortable environment for our pets, to ensure cool resting areas and avoid exposure to excessive heat. Maintain good hygiene (bath at regular intervals and groom according to your veterinarian’s suggestions) to reduce stress-related illness.
