Jai Shah and Shapoor Zadran

Former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran He died at the age of 38 after battling hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare immune system disorder. He was undergoing treatment in Delhi-NCR region for several months. His death was confirmed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board during his tenure as the President of the International Cricket Council (ICC). He also recalled his all-round performance against Scotland in the 2015 ODI World Cup that led Afghanistan to their first World Cup win. He wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of former Afghan cricketer Shapoor Zadran at the age of 38. He was one of those proud cricketers who stood at the center of Afghanistan’s early cricket journey and helped pave the way that brought Afghan cricket to the international stage.”” It added, “Throughout his career Shapoor served Afghanistan cricket with honour, courage and distinction. His contributions and achievements will always be an important part of the history of Afghanistan cricket and his efforts in service of the national team will never be forgotten.” Zadran represented Afghanistan in 80 international matches between 2009 and 2020.
